Modeling for small cell networks in 5G communication environment

The small cell structure in which many cells are arranged per unit area by reducing the size of cells is a candidate technology for an increase in transmission capacity in the 5G environment. However, the decrease in the size of the cell led to additional problems such as increased inter cell interference and frequent cell changes owing to the movement of the terminal. Therefore, the aim of this study was to propose small cell dynamic channel allocation (SDCA) and hybrid and dynamic channel allocation (HDCA) using conventional reuse methods to improve the macro cell performance while efficiently utilizing scarce frequency resources. The proposed method facilitates an improved performance that is lacking for macro-cell users in the center area of the cell boundary for the network where conventional macro cells and small cells are superposed. Furthermore, to improve the performance, it can provide resources that are lacking in the small cells of the center. To evaluate the performance, the proposed method was compared to frequency reuse factor1 (FRF1), frequency reuse factor3 (FRF3), and fractional frequency reuse (FFR) methods in terms of the signal-to-interference/noise-ratio (SINR) of users of each macro cell and small cell, outage, capacity for each user, and total system capacity. As a result of comparing the SINR, it was confirmed that the performance of the macro cell users has improved by an average of 43.88% compared to FRF1, FRF3, and FFR, and the performance of small cell users has improved by an average of 4.31%. Comparison results show that the outage proportions of the macro and small cell users are 61.29% and 70.59% lower on average, respectively. A comparison of results show that the capacities of the macro and small cell users have also improved by 22.5% and 14.5% on average, respectively. Context: Contemporary software development is typically conducted in dynamic, resource-scarce environments that are prone to the accumulation of technical debt. While this general phenomenon is acknowledged, what remains unknown is how technical debt specifically manifests in and affects software processes, and how the software development techniques employed accommodate or mitigate the presence of this debt. Objectives: We sought to draw on practitioner insights and experiences in order to classify the effects of agile method use on technical debt management, given the popularity and perceived success of agile methods. We explore the breadth of practitioners' knowledge about technical debt;how technical debt is manifested across the software process;and the perceived effects of common agile software development practices and processes on technical debt. In doing so, we address a research gap in technical debt knowledge and provide novel and actionable managerial recommendations. Method: We designed, tested and executed a multi-national survey questionnaire to address our objectives, receiving 184 responses from practitioners in Brazil, Finland, and New Zealand. Results: Our findings indicate that: 1) Practitioners are aware of technical debt, although, there was under utilization of the concept, 2) Technical debt commonly resides in legacy systems, however, concrete instances of technical debt are hard to conceptualize which makes it problematic to manage, 3) Queried agile practices and processes help to reduce technical debt;in particular, techniques that verify and maintain the structure and clarity of implemented artifacts (e.g., Coding standards and Refactoring) positively affect technical debt management. Conclusions: The fact that technical debt instances tend to have characteristics in common means that a systematic approach to its management is feasible. This paper presents an adaptive prediction-based control scheme for developing an ecological cruise control (ECC) system when simultaneous running on the roads with the continuous curves and up-down slopes, which aims to guarantee the driving safety, riding comfort of a vehicle and enhance its fuel efficiency as well. This study is mainly divided into two parts: vehicle longitudinal speed control and vehicle lateral stability control. Firstly, based on GPS data, topographical information, and a fuel consumption model, the prediction based on approximate dynamic programming (ADP) using adaptive fuzzy neural networks (FNNs) is employed to calculate appropriate control signal required for ecological driving. Secondly, to maintain the vehicle stable on the curved road, the vehicle lateral stability control is presented utilizing sliding mode control approach. The effectiveness of the proposed ECC system, in view of stability, improved riding comfort and fuel efficiency, has been validated on the CarSim environment. © 2020 - IOS Press and the authors. This work reports the mid-IR spectroscopy and reaction kinetics of 2-methyl-1,3-dioxolane (2M13DO). We carried out spectroscopic measurements to deduce temperature-dependent absorption cross-sections of 2M13DO over a broad wavelength range of 8.4–10.5 μm (950–1190 cm⁻¹). For these measurements, we employed a rapidly tuning MIRcat-QT™ laser that can be operated either at a fixed wavelength or scanned mode over wide wavelength regions. By operating the laser at a fixed wavelength, we monitored the decay of 2M13DO behind reflected shock waves over T₅ = 1050–1400 K and P₅ = 0.7 and 2.6 bar. Our measured concentration time-histories of 2M13DO allowed us to directly extract the overall rate coefficients for the unimolecular decomposition of 2M13DO using the first-order rate law. We did not observe any pressure dependence in the measured rate coefficients, indicating that the reaction is close to the high-pressure limit. By employing the W1U composite method, we explored the important pyrolysis reaction pathways of 2M13DO in the reactive potential energy surface. Three important reaction channels, namely, 2M13DO → CH₂[dbnd]CHOCH₂CH₂OH (IM1), 2M13DO → 2CH₃CHO (P3), 2M13DO → CH₃ + 1,3-dioxolan-2-yl (P4) were identified. Below 700 K, IM1 forming channel is dominant, whereas CH₃CHO formation is dominant under our experimental conditions. Above 1500 K, the radical forming channel (CH₃+P4) takes over other channels. At higher temperatures, the contribution of the radical forming channel continually increases, accounting for ∼ 99% at 2000 K. We used the stochastic RRKM-ME model to predict the pressure and temperature dependence of the rate coefficients, k(T, P), and time-resolved species profiles. The precise diagnosis of urinary stones is crucial for devising effective treatment strategies. The diagnostic process, however, is often complicated by the low contrast between stones and surrounding tissues, as well as the variability in stone locations across different patients. To address this issue, we propose a novel location embedding based pairwise distance learning network (LEPD-Net) that leverages low-dose abdominal X-ray imaging combined with location information for the fine-grained diagnosis of urinary stones. LEPD-Net enhances the representation of stone-related features through context-aware region enhancement, incorporates critical location knowledge via stone location embedding, and achieves recognition of fine-grained objects with our innovative fine-grained pairwise distance learning. Additionally, we have established an in-house dataset on urinary tract stones to demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed approach. The software quality can be achieved by the process improvement; software engineers aim to analyze and monitor the whole process of the development. This paper presents `AppDOSI', a web application that allows software engineers to manage and keep track of their work performance. The design of the application was in line with the principle of the Personal software Process (PSP). The application has been used extensively in the software Developing Camp and gained a positive feedback from software engineering undergraduates as well as their course instructors.

For this second installment, we will show how these winning elements were applied in practice. To make it even more interesting, we will illustrate how this can be accomplished with arguably one of the most difficult cases to make: adoption of technical standards. The Undergraduate Student Instrumentation Project (USIP) was a NASA program created to engage undergraduate students in rigorous scientific research for the purposes of innovation and developing the next generation of professionals in space research. It is now run by the University of Houston using local resources. This student-led project, based on the 5E instructional model, is executed by the students from initial ideation of research objectives to the design, testing, and deployment of scientific payloads. The 5E Instructional model places the student at the center of knowledge building, while instructors facilitate interaction with content and guide the inquiry process. Since 2013, this project has been not only an effective vehicle for delivering STEM education but is also effective in increasing classroom engagement and interest in space. Space research is inherently interdisciplinary and crosscuts Geoscience, engineering, and technology. The project is designed to integrate engineering, technology, physics, material science, and earth and atmospheric sciences as an important opportunity for the students to gain access to cross-disciplinary experiential research. In addition to classroom engagement, the students build their own payloads and ground instruments. This project increases students’ command of essential skills such as teamwork, collaboration, problem solving, technology, communication, innovation, and leadership. For the faculty, the project was an extended exercise in professional development, learning how to implement project level inquiry-based education on this scale. For the students, this formative experience continues to encourage the development of a much broader range of technical skills than is typically offered within an undergraduate degree. Furthermore, the extensive time and energy that students commit to this project promotes a strong sense of personal and professional responsibility and emphasizes the necessity of coherent teamwork.

The development of Internet of Things (IoT) makes the application of smart homes grow rapidly. It is very popular to install smart appliances in the house. However, building a smart control system at home not only costs a lot but also has many limitations. For this reason, this study proposes a smart homes control system to easily integrate IoT, WSN, smart robot and single-board computer to implement smart home applications. We use wireless technology and automatic equipment to avoid excessive communication cable and to make the house more intelligent to keep in-house movement unimpeded and indoor space tidy and to let appliance adjust appropriate environment settings automatically. This system brings intelligence and convenience to home, making living environment more comfortable. © 2018 IEEE.
