This research-to-practice full paper discusses experiences and lessons learned from our EPICS@BUTLER (engineering Projects in Community Service at Butler) program. The program, housed within the department of computer science and software engineering, is part of a college of Liberal Arts and sciences and serves a diverse population of students with multi-disciplinary backgrounds. The EPICS curriculum is driven by a team-based service-learning pedagogical model. EPICS teams learn how to work together effectively while addressing the immediate IT needs of our non-profit partner clients, navigating their budgetary restrictions, and coping with any lack of existing IT infrastructure. During the 2020/2021 academic year, we launched an empirical study to review and assess EPICS@BUTLER. The study's main goal was to learn from the past 20 years of running the EPICS program by soliciting input from all parties involved. We aimed to improve and expand our service-learning model within an LAS context. More specifically, this study included surveying alumni and current undergraduate students in order to understand the successes and areas of potential improvement within our program. In addition, we conducted one-on-one interviews with our community non-profit partners as well as volunteer team mentors to assess the program's effectiveness and community impact. Based on the empirical data we gathered and analyzed, we discuss how the existing curriculum is effective at providing fulfilling experiences which help our alumni secure jobs after graduation. In addition, we found that the practice of allowing supervised teams to navigate their own EPICS projects helps them improve their professional maturity and interpersonal skills. In summary, this paper discusses an empirical study and aims to leverage the results gathered from our surveys and interviews in order to present a plan for continuous improvement and modernization of our on-going EPICS program. software piracy is a major problem faced in the software industry. Despite the several techniques proposed in previous studies, software piracy and intellectual property theft have continued to pose a threat in the software industry. The objective of this study is to design a code obfuscation framework for software and intellectual property protection. The methodology employed includes use of JavaScript and algorithms that described the key processes of the framework. The obfuscation framework presented in this study consists of five distinct transformation techniques belonging to the control-flow class of obfuscation classifications. A prototype application that executes the transformation techniques to produce obfuscated code based on specified techniques was provided. Results obtained from the evaluations shows that some transformation techniques are more effective than others in obscuring codes and that the proposed framework increases the computing overhead of the resultant obfuscated code by a relatively small margin. Results indicate that majority (76.2%) of the respondents believe that the developed obfuscator is inexpensive and that it does not adversely affect memory and execution time. The developed framework and prototype implementation would provide software vendors and developers the tool to obscure their intellectual property against attack and theft by making reverse engineering difficult and unattractive. © 2024 IEEE.

The advent of quantum computing has ignited unprecedented anticipation within the realm of IT. This has transcended the limitations of classical computation and revolutionized various facets of technological advancement. At the forefront of this quantum revolution stands the Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) era, characterized by a delicate interplay of immense potential and persistent imperfections. This paper delves into the intricacies of NISQ-era quantum computing, unraveling its fundamental principles, challenges, and transformative implications for the IT landscape. Beginning with quantum computing basics-qubits, superposition, entanglement, and gates-the NISQ era's essence addresses error-prone operations and decoherence. Quantum algorithms for NISQ devices, like Grover's search, Shor's factorization, and Variational Quantum Eigensolver (VQE), are scrutinized for their computational potential. Central to NISQ's viability, quantum error correction and mitigation strategies are surveyed, stabilizing quantum computations amidst noise. Examining quantum hardware architectures and performance metrics unveils NISQ devices' potential. applications of NISQ quantum computing in cryptography, optimization, machine learning, and more are explored, showcasing quantum advantage's real-world potential. This paper embarks on a multidimensional exploration of NISQ quantum computing, illuminating its intricate facets, applications, and ethical implications. As quantum computing evolves from a theoretical notion to a tangible paradigm, the insights gleaned herein contribute to a holistic understanding of its role in shaping the next wave of computing. © 2023 IEEE.

The extent of pollution in areas near industrial activities and Yamuna River has increased tremendously and to determine the overall water quality status in these locations is utmost important. This paper presents a comprehensive study on assessing the water quality and gain insights into the overall water quality status in the vicinity of industries and along the Yamuna River in Delhi. To achieve this, water samples were collected from Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) for the last eight years (2013-2021) and was converted into a machine-readable format to facilitate further analysis. These samples were analysed for several water quality parameters, including pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), nutrient levels, heavy metals, and other relevant pollutants. By understanding these factors, a deeper understanding of the pollution sources and their impact on water quality is gained. Time series methods are applied to forecast future trends and values of the water quality parameters. This allows for predicting potential changes in water quality over time. A remarkable accuracy of 93.6% is attained in predicting water quality values up to the present time. The analysis reveals that water quality in the NCR region falls below acceptable standards. However, there has been a marginal enhancement in the water quality at Khajori Paltoon (Location L3) post-COVID. To achieve a more significant improvement in water quality, it is imperative to implement new policies. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.

Team adaptation to new cooperative tasks is a hallmark of human intelligence, which has yet to be fully realized in learning agents. Previous studies on multi-agent transfer learning have accommodated teams of different sizes but heavily relied on the generalization ability of neural networks for adapting to unseen tasks. We posit that the relationship among tasks provides key information for policy *** utilize this relationship for efficient transfer by attempting to discover and exploit the knowledge among tasks from different teams, proposing to learn an effect-based task representation as a common latent space among tasks, and using it to build an alternatively fixed training scheme. Herein, we demonstrate that task representation can capture the relationship among teams and generalize to unseen tasks. Thus, the proposed method helps transfer the learned cooperation knowledge to new tasks after training on a few source ***, the learned transferred policies help solve tasks that are difficult to learn from scratch.

The idea behind layered design is the foundation of the Internet of Things. Each tier uses a variety of technologies for capacity, preparation, and information transmission. With regard to the risks and vulnerabilities related to IoT-enabled devices, as well as potential assurance mechanisms in light of equipment constraints and novel information transfer techniques, this study attempts to analyze the current architecture of the Internet of Things. After that, we talk about IoT architecture and applications. The following is a list of effective real-time IoT applications that are now in use: Self-driving cars, traffic management systems, smart grids, logistic management hierarchies, environment monitoring, building safety applications, and many more are examples of emerging technologies. Specifically, we highlight the latest improvements and challenges associated with IoT security.
