The majority of real-time object recognition systems operate on two-dimensional images, degrading the influence of the involved objects' third-dimensional (i.e., depth) information. The depth information of a captured scene provides a thorough understanding of an object in full-dimensional space. During the last decade, several region proposal techniques have been integrated into object detection. scenes’ objects are then localized and classified but only in a two-dimensional space. Such techniques exist under the umbrella of two-dimensional object detection models such as YOLO and SSD. However, these techniques have the issue of being uncertain that an object's boundaries are properly specified into the particular scene. This paper proposes a unique region proposal and object detection strategy based on retrieving depth information for localization and segmentation of the scenes’ objects in real-time manner. The obtained results on different datasets show superior accuracy in comparison to the commonly implemented techniques with regards to not only detection but also a pixel-by-pixel accurate localization of objects. © 2022, The Authors. An efficient and secure arbitrary N-party quantum key agreement protocol using Bell states

Two quantum key agreement protocols using Bell states and Bell measurement were recently proposed by Shukla et al. [Quantum Inf. Process. 13, 2391(2014)]. However, Zhu et al. pointed out that there are some security flaws and proposed an improved version[Quantum Inf. Process. 14, 4245(2015)]. In this study, we will show Zhu et al.’s improvement still exists some security problems, and its efficiency is not high enough. For solving these problems, we utilize four Pauli operations {I, Z, X, Y } to encode two bits instead of the original two operations {I, X} to encode one bit, and then propose an efficient and secure arbitrary N-party quantum key agreement protocol. In the protocol, the channel checking with decoy single photons is introduced to avoid the eavesdropper’s flip attack, and a post-measurement mechanism is used to prevent against the collusion attack. The security analysis shows the present protocol can guarantee the correctness, security, privacy and fairness of quantum key agreement. © 2023, CC BY.

Self-supervised learning enables networks to learn discriminative features from massive data itself. Most state-of-the-art methods maximize the similarity between two augmentations of one image based on contrastive learning. By utilizing the consistency of two augmentations, the burden of manual annotations can be freed. Contrastive learning exploits instance-level information to learn robust features. However, the learned information is probably confined to different views of the same instance. In this paper, we attempt to leverage the similarity between two distinct images to boost representation in self-supervised learning. In contrast to instance-level information, the similarity between two distinct images may provide more useful information. Besides, we analyze the relation between similarity loss and feature-level cross-entropy loss. These two losses are essential for most deep learning methods. However, the relation between these two losses is not clear. Similarity loss helps obtain instance-level representation, while feature-level cross-entropy loss helps mine the similarity between two distinct images. We provide theoretical analyses and experiments to show that a suitable combination of these two losses can get state-of-the-art results. Code is available at https://***/guijiejie/ICCL. In this article, we have designed a novel variable-stiffness soft gripper that combines the advantages of both flexible and rigid grippers. It is capable of performing two different tasks: pinching and enveloping. The soft gripper comprises spring steel sheets, memory alloy sheets, tendons, and servo motors, offering the advantages of low cost and simple structure. This variable-stiffness soft gripper can freely switch between the pinching and enveloping by heating the memory alloy sheets and controlling the tendons with servo motors. Finally, to validate the effectiveness of the soft gripper and the algorithm, we constructed experimental platforms for autonomous grasping in virtual and real environments. Experimental results demonstrate that our variable-stiffness soft gripper exhibits excellent grasping performance, stably pinching, and enveloping objects of various shapes and materials, and the achieved grasping success rate is 90%, surpassing the performance of using only precision pinching or enveloping.

Document retrieval plays an essential role in many real-world applications especially when the data storage is outsourced. Due to the great advantages offered by cloud computing, clients tend to outsource their personal data to remote servers maintained by external service providers. This raises serious privacy concerns about outsourced data because such providers are usually considered untrusted entities. The majority of previous schemes of document similarity search share the same limitation: they focus mainly on static collections. Dynamic searchable schemes (DSE) allow adding or removing documents at the expense of more leakage than static schemes. To thwart certain attacks, DSE schemes should support forward privacy property, which ensures that newly added documents cannot be related to previously issued search queries. We design and implement dynamic secure similarity search schemes with forward privacy for textual documents utilizing simhash method for hamming similarity. Our scheme provides an efficient search time and a sufficient level of privacy. To show the practicality of our proposed scheme, we performed excremental results with large document collections.

In classical malware detection methodologies, digitalforensics and file carving, file type classification holds a pivotalrole. However, it is still a challenge to accurately categorize an ever-growing diversity of file formats and *** approaches to address the issue have been introducedin recent years. Most approches use hand-crafted features, andsome use a compact neural network architectureapproach with explicit feature extraction. Nonetheless, thesemethods encounter some challenges, including training time fornew file types, dealing with an insufficient number of trainingexamples, the complexity of training, and their accuracylevel. Our paper introduces three novel, content-basedretrieval and identification, file type classificationapproaches, proactively addressing these identified *** three approaches significantly enhance accuracy andprioritize an intuitive method for swift integration of new filetypes using pre-trained models, thereby enhancing speed andreliability in file type detection. The first approach is basedon the principles of Natural Language Processing (NLP) andtransformer architecture. The second approach amalgamates anensemble of statistical features, OOXML files identifier and a pre-trained model usingtransfer *** meticulously evaluated the classification task, achieving an accuracy of 72.4% and 69.2%, respectively, for our first two approaches, surpassing the performance of the state-of-the-art convolutional neural network (CNN) based models described in the literature in terms of accuracy. Finally, our third approach of one-shot learning enables the identification of files with minimal examples, facilitating efficient training in a short period, and demonstrating a remarkable 100% accuracy in several scenarios. © 2024, The Authors. The MURDOC project introduces an application to enhance trustworthiness and explainability in computer vision models, focusing on camouflage detection. It aims to address the need for transparent and interpretable AI systems in sensitive domains such as security and defense. MURDOC integrates advanced eXplainable AI techniques including off-ramps for collecting interpretable insights, attention mechanisms for high-lighting relevant features, and a user-centric image pre-processing tool within the visualization interface. This paper offers an assessment of MURDOC's potential impact on trustworthiness and explainability in camouflaged object detection tasks. It discusses and assesses the potential effectiveness of off-ramps in gathering XAI output at various model stages, such as feature maps, attention mechanisms, and activation maps. Additionally, the paper investigates how user-driven image pre-processing mechanisms may enhance the trustworthiness of the model's predictions and decisions, allowing users to modify the input and observe prediction changes. As a work in progress, the development of MURDOC shows promise in bridging the gap for transparency and interpretability in camouflage detection. The paper also discusses the challenges, future directions, and potential applications of MURDOC's capabilities in diverse domains requiring transparent and trustworthy AI systems. PIG: Prompt Images Guidance for Night-Time Scene Parsing

Night-time scene parsing aims to extract pixel-level semantic information in night images, aiding downstream tasks in understanding scene object distribution. Due to limited labeled night image datasets, unsupervised domain adaptation (UDA) has become the predominant method for studying night scenes. UDA typically relies on paired day-night image pairs to guide adaptation, but this approach hampers dataset construction and restricts generalization across night scenes in different datasets. Moreover, UDA, focusing on network architecture and training strategies, faces difficulties in handling classes with few domain similarities. In this paper, we leverage Prompt Images Guidance (PIG) to enhance UDA with supplementary night knowledge. We propose a Night-Focused Network (NFNet) to learn night-specific features from both target domain images and prompt images. To generate high-quality pseudo-labels, we propose Pseudo-label Fusion via Domain Similarity Guidance (FDSG). Classes with fewer domain similarities are predicted by NFNet, which excels in parsing night features, while classes with more domain similarities are predicted by UDA, which has rich labeled semantics. Additionally, we propose two data augmentation strategies: the Prompt Mixture Strategy (PMS) and the Alternate Mask Strategy (AMS), aimed at mitigating the overfitting of the NFNet to a few prompt images. We conduct extensive experiments on four night-time datasets: NightCity, NightCity+, Dark Zurich, and ACDC. The results indicate that utilizing PIG can enhance the parsing accuracy of UDA. In the remanufacturing process, the efficient disassembly of end-of-life (EOL) products assumes paramount significance for recycling endeavors. This work introduces a novel disassembly model aiming at enhancing disassembly efficiency within a hybrid disassembly line through the strengths of humanrobot collaboration. In order to optimize the generation of disassembly sequences, this work proposes an improved fireworks optimization algorithm (IFW) that combines uniform mutation and two-point crossover methods. Afterwards, the model’s validity and algorithmic accuracy are substantiated using the CPLEX solver (a commercial solver). Furthermore, a comparative analysis and evaluation against alternative algorithms, such as salp swarm algorithm (SSA) and whale optimization algorithm (WOA), demonstrate a better stability of the proposed algorithm in the human-robot collaborative hybrid disassembly line balancing problem.
