The modern digital age demands the skills to be able to assess information. In the current world, access to information and knowledge is abundant from different sources. Indeed, high-quality data are much needed in education and professional development, as the quality and accuracy of information directly influence the process of learning and decision-making. The study aims to investigate the perceptions of computer science students at the University of Dunaújváros related to the credibility of diverse information sources. Within a questionnaire, on a voluntary answer basis, 68 students took part, 59 males and nine females. This work is aimed at assessing the degree to which the surveyed students evaluate information sources based on a five-point Likert scale. The data shows that students find print books and textbooks as the most reliable sources; social media are the least reliable. The study also supports the importance of source credibility evaluation, for which lateral reading techniques and AI-based news source credibility identification systems can be helpful. These findings suggest the necessity of bettering the educational approaches to foster better source criticism skills in the students, especially for online content and social media. The study generally contributes to understanding the information society and helps prepare students to obtain and use reliable and accurate information in their future careers. Using AI-based tools and systems can then further support these educational efforts with robust mechanisms to evaluate information credibility in an ever more complex digital landscape.

The number of patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver is increasing. Liver fat quantification is the most reliable indicator for the diagnosis of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and it is of great value for the early diagnosis and condition monitoring of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Therefore, it is of great significance to quantitatively analyze liver fat. In this work, we utilize the superpixel segmentation method based on depth neural network to preprocess the MRI image, we can simplify the representation of the image and obtain good organ boundary information. In addition, we also understand the popular involution operator and improve it through combining the medical image segmentation model u-net to obtain a better region of interest. The segmentation accuracy of the proposed method is 1.82 percentage points higher than that of u-net model. On this basis, the proton density and fat fraction of liver are calculated by medical formula, achieving the sequencing measurement of liver fat. The experimental results show that the proposed method is efficient and feasible. © 2022 IEEE.

Deep learning has been proved to achieve excellent results in various fields, and appropriate network architecture and sufficient data play an important role. Due to the high cost of annotation for the task of object detection, domain adaptation methods have been introduced in this field. But these methods are based on the rigid network architecture and bound to the input dimension of the adaptive module, which is not only difficult to better balance accuracy and speed of detection model, but also can not use the multi-scale training method, resulting in the reduction of the application scenario of the model. Inspired by this problem, we propose a new object detection method based on multi-scale adversarial domain adaptation and network architecture search. An evolutionary algorithm is adopted to help search the network architecture to balance accuracy and speed. The ability of domain adaptation can also be effectively improved by the searched architecture. The experimental results have demonstrated the significant improvement that benefited from the framework in terms of its performance and computational efficiency in solving unlabeled object detection. © 2022 IEEE.

Most differential privacy mechanisms are applied (i.e., composed) numerous times on sensitive data. We study the design of optimal differential privacy mechanisms in the limit of a large number of compositions. As a consequence of the law of large numbers, in this regime the best privacy mechanism is the one that minimizes the Kullback-Leibler divergence between the conditional output distributions of the mechanism given two different inputs. We formulate an optimization problem to minimize this divergence subject to a cost constraint on the noise. We first prove that additive mechanisms are optimal. Since the optimization problem is infinite dimensional, it cannot be solved directly; nevertheless, we quantize the problem to derive nearoptimal additive mechanisms that we call "cactus mechanisms" due to their shape. We show that our quantization approach can be arbitrarily close to an optimal mechanism. Surprisingly, for quadratic cost, the Gaussian mechanism is strictly suboptimal compared to this cactus mechanism. Finally, we provide numerical results which indicate that cactus mechanisms outperform Gaussian and Laplace mechanisms for a finite number of *** full proofs can be found in the extended version at [1]. The pace at which customers discontinue engaging in commercial activity with a corporation is known as customer churn, and it frequently indicates discontent or competition. Machine learning analyzes customer data to identify patterns, predict churn, and personalize retention strategies. It enables businesses to target at-risk customers and enhance engagement through tailored interventions and offers. A public dataset gathered from Kaggle is used in this research work. Exploratory data analysis is carried over to understand the patterns and trends in the churn rate. The bivariate analysis is held to find the correlation of each feature against the churn rate. With these observations, the importance of marketing strategies is exhibited. Additionally, four distinct models—Logistic Regression, Random Forest, Decision Tree, and the XGB Classifier-are used to train and assess the dataset. From the evaluation of all four models with the help of the ROC score, the XGB is found to outperform and provide better results obtaining 98% accuracy and a 1.00 ROC score.

A knowledge-driven framework for synthesizing designs from modular components

Creating a design from modular components necessitates three steps: Acquiring knowledge about available components, conceiving an abstract design concept, and implementing that concept in a concrete design. The third step entails many repetitive and menial tasks, such as inserting parts and creating joints between them. Especially when comparing and implementing design alternatives, this issue is compounded. We propose a use-case agnostic knowledge-driven framework to automate the implementation step. In particular, the framework catalogues the acquired knowledge and the design concept, as well as utilizes Combinatory Logic Synthesis to synthesize concrete design alternatives. This minimizes the effort required to create designs, allowing the design space to be thoroughly explored. We implemented the framework as a plugin for the CAD software Autodesk Fusion 360. We conducted a case study in which robotic arms were synthesized from a set of 28 modular components. Based on the case study, the applicability of the framework is analyzed and discussed.

Edge computing has emerged as a killer technology for a hyper-connected world due to its distributed architecture and customer-proximity property. Combined edge nodes with the cloud data center, a cloud-edge computing paradigm is formed, whose resource ecosystem calls for competitive pricing and optimal resource allocation. However, it is not feasible to realize global information-based optimization since some information is kept private to their owners. To solve this challenge, this paper develops the user-independent hierarchical reverse game and the user-assisted hierarchical reverse game to depict the relationship among the resource provider, the resource tenant, and the resource user. The aim is to seek the optimal strategies for players without revealing any private information. The common trait of both games is to force the players to report the optimal strategies based on their actual private information. This salient trait can produce privacy-preservation optimization since there is no requirement for the players to release their individual information directly, and the optimal strategies of other players can be deduced naturally. The difference between the user-independent hierarchical reverse game and the user-assisted one is that the game rules are stipulated entirely by the provider and the tenants (edge nodes) in the former, while some game rules can be customized according to the advice of users in the latter. This leads the user-independent hierarchical reverse game is more concise and easy to guarantee the incentive compatibility constraint, while the user-assisted hierarchical reverse game can attract more users since the game rules can adapt to their economic status, requirements, and preferences. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

Every English speaker wishes to expertise his/her public speaking skills sharply. However, it is extremely difficult and requires a significant amount of practice and experience on an individual basis. This paper introduces a novel online tool 'Speech Master' to practice and improve public English speech delivering skills in a professional manner. Using natural language processing, machine learning, and deep learning approaches, the proposed system analyzes the user's speech in terms of content, grammatical accuracy, grammatical richness, facial expressions, and flow. The accuracy was checked by comparing actual results taken from experts with the predicted results obtained from the tool. 'Speech Master' achieves an average accuracy of more than 80% and produces a better overall result. This novel tool benefits English speakers all over the world by meeting the demand for a simple and easy-to-use solution for improving or practicing English speech delivery skills;enhancing oratory skills, boosting confidence, and delivering well-articulated speeches. © 2021 IEEE.

Multi-class classification presents a significant challenge in supervised machine learning, and it is frequently applied across various real-world domains. Random Forest (RF) stands out as a popular ensemble technique for multi-class classification tasks that utilizes attribute bagging to construct random trees and employs a majority-voting scheme for classification. However, the existing Random Forest approach often faces limitations in accuracy and efficiency, particularly for more critical tasks. In this study, we have addressed this gap by introducing a novel methodology that integrates the K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) classifier and Decision Trees into the Random Forest framework to enhance performance. The proposed method has involved training a K-Nearest Neighbor and a Decision Tree (DT) classifier on the extracted features. The output probabilities from these classifiers have been used as meta-features, forming an enriched feature vector fed into a Random Forest as the meta-learner for final classification. Through extensive experimentation on 5 datasets, the proposed approach has demonstrated superior performance in accuracy and efficiency compared to the traditional method. By integrating Random Forest and K-Nearest Neighbor techniques, this research has offered a versatile solution applicable across diverse domains where precise multi-class classification is essential.
