This research-to-practice paper describes the development of an innovative practice aimed at addressing the global surge in student stress and related mental health challenges, particularly in engineering education. Student well-being is foundational to academic success, with studies indicating that dropout rates for students with stress are more than 50% and mental health problems can range as high as 83% in engineering education. Stress and elevated levels of inattention are associated with decreased academic interest, decision-making, self-efficacy, study skills, and GPA. Research has shown that stress levels can be reduced by meditation techniques and they induce attention. In this research, a three-stage guided meditation called ChakraMarmaKosha Meditation II (CM-II) was developed to improve the attention level of students. It involves past emotional cleansing, reviewing the day, visualizing the future components, and is accompanied by flute music that is composed based on a chosen Raga. In this study, a data analysis pipeline was developed for detailed spectral analysis to measure variations in attention due to meditation. In an in-person EEG experiment, a study group of 15 college students underwent this CM-II meditation process in a lab setting. The EEG spectral analysis underscored an enhancement in attentional focus post-meditation, as evidenced by key shifts in spectral ratios such as the notable decrease in Theta to Beta Ratio (TBR) and the surge in Theta to Gamma Ratio (TGR). The observed results were validated using attention scores from tests on the TestMyBrain tool. This study underscores the potential benefits of the CM-II meditation technique in fostering enhanced attention, reduced stress, and consequently improved academic performance in engineering education. Twitter has been observed to be one of the essential data resources for dependable event accreditation. In any case, Twitter-based event affirmation structures can't guarantee assessment concerning their attestation results. Talk statement has been locked in starting late to enable liberal event Recognition. This problem is not yet evident in light of the assumption that most people tend to think that they have a specific limit to the data on Twitter that have frames based on events based on Twitter. Current appraisals see new pieces by seeing and looking at the significant psychological aspects of hitting the details on Twitter. No matter, the scale of the visual cues can be well established, with the intention that it is essential to design an integrated Twitter experiment with another set of extensible data resources to rectify this problem. The problem is the processes by which you should wholeheartedly investigate all converted data because it has different data structures, transfer times, etc. This issue of address, the paper proposes a framework for evaluating the use of Twitter-based events and examines two types of data resources for the reliability of impact testing. Our framework uses the resultant of the request obtaining by various events and relevant to the articles on it. This paper has improved the cleaning test with the proposed process how the integrity estimation of twitter based event can be recognized with the help of group of analyzed data. The evaluation indicates that the proposed system provides visible high-level testing events and a variety of low-level testing events. © 2024 IEEE.

Assurance of Learning and Competency-Based Education are increasingly important in higher education, not only for accreditation or transfer of credit points. Learning Analytics is crucial for making educational goals measurable and actionable, which is beneficial for program managers, course instructors, and students. While universities typically have an established tool landscape where relevant data is managed, information is typically scattered across various systems with different responsibilities and often only limited capabilities for sharing data. This diversity, however, significantly hampers the ability to analyze data, both on the course and curriculum level. To address these shortcomings and to provide program managers, course instructions, and students with valuable insights, we devised an initial concept for a Multi-Level Shared Learning Analytics Framework to provide consistent definition and measurement of learning objectives, as well as tailored information, visualization, and analysis for different stakeholders. In this paper, we present the results of initial interviews with stakeholders, devising core features. In addition, we assess potential risks and concerns that may arise from the implementation of such a framework and data analytics system. As a result, we identified six essential features and six main risks to guide further requirements elicitation and development of our proposed framework. Pre-trained Language Models have been shown to be able to emulate deductive reasoning in natural language. However, PLMs are easily affected by irrelevant information (e.g., entity) in instance-level proofs when learning deductive reasoning. To address this limitation, we propose an Abstract-level Deductive Reasoner (ADR). ADR is trained to predict the abstract reasoning proof of each sample, which guides PLMs to learn general reasoning patterns rather than instance-level knowledge. Experimental results demonstrate that ADR significantly reduces the impact of PLMs learning instance-level knowledge (over 70%). © 2024 ELRA Language Resource Association: CC BY-NC 4.0.

This study investigates the evaluation of the representativeness of datasets in autonomous driving systems using statistical distance metrics. Eight different datasets, created in the Carla simulation environment, cover various driving conditions, including normal and impaired lighting scenarios, alternative routes, and challenging conditions such as power outages. The datasets were designed to represent similar routes under different conditions. Various distance metrics- Wasserstein, Kuiper, Anderson-Darling, Chernoff, DTS, and CVM-were applied to measure pairwise dataset distances. We anticipated that the dataset for a given route under ideal conditions would exhibit a large distance measure (of any of the listed distance measures) compared to the same route under impaired conditions (e.g., a power failure at the streetlights). However, we were particularly interested in whether a measurable jump at a (potential threshold) value could be recognized even with a smaller drop in dataset condition quality. The results of the study show that a normalization of these distance measures enables precise divergence comparisons and the determination of meaningful threshold values. This in turn means that normalized deviation measures can effectively identify deviations in real time, hence contributing to the development and monitoring of more reliable autonomous driving models. © 2024 IEEE.

The state of election in Nigeria is worrisome. Electoral malpractices have been a major challenge to the Nigerian government in recent times. Government has made frantic efforts to tackle these electoral challenges but the recent event in year 2023 presidential election is worrisome suggests that the solution is not near. Recently, the percentage of eligible voters who vote on election days is declining. Voters turnout went up from 52.3% in 1999 - the first general election since 1993 - to 69% in 2003. But, it has been on the decline nearly ever since - 57.5% in 2007, 53.7% in 2011, 43.7% in 2015 and 34.8% in 2019. In 2023, it is 28.63%. With the way things are going, if urgent action is not taken, this could signal the end of democracy in Nigeria. This research presents the design and implementation of a trusted and secured e-voting based on blockchain technology that will increase voters confidence and trust. The system utilizes *** for the frontend and Solidity on the Polygon blockchain for the backend, ensuring transparency, tamper-resistance, and heightened security. This innovative approach addresses trust and reliability concerns in traditional voting systems, offering a modernized and trustworthy electoral process. © 2024 IEEE.

Feature selection helps eradicate redundant features which is essential to mitigate the curse of dimensionality when a machine-learning model deals with high-dimensional datasets. Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO) is a swarm-based algorithm that simulates the wolves’ hunting behavior. Although very efficient, GWO faces some limitations which may cause premature convergence and/or local optima trapping. Moreover, GWO relies mainly on the three best wolves, limiting its potential for diverse exploration and exploitation. This work proposes an improved version of GWO namely, a modified grey wolf optimizer with multi-solution crossover integration (MGWO-MCI) algorithm. MGWO-MCI algorithm incorporates a multi-solution strategy that evolves new potential solutions in the optimization process. A crossover operation is performed between the new wolves and the existing hierarchy, reforming the position-updating process. MGWO-MCI utilizes this position-updating process using two different approaches. The first approach named MGWO-MCI-I expands the additional wolves’ role to both exploration and exploitation whereas the second approach named MGWO-MCI-II incorporates their role to exploration only. These approaches are evaluated and tested using 18 datasets and an Intrusion detection dataset NSL-KDD for feature selection. Statistically, the results are analyzed through the Wilcoxon test, which shows the superiority of MGWO-MCI-II. MGWO-MCI-II outperforms others with an accuracy of 98.6% on NSL-KDD and achieves 55.5% overall best outcomes on other datasets. Moreover, the MGWO-MCI was evaluated on two constrained optimization problems, the pressure vessel and welded beam design validating its effectiveness and adaptability in solving different optimization problems. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Correspondence pruning has recently drawn considerable attention as a crucial step in image matching. Existing methods typically achieve this by constructing neighborhoods for each feature point and imposing neighborhood consistency. However, the nearest-neighbor matching strategy often results in numerous many-to-one correspondences, thereby reducing the reliability of neighborhood information. Furthermore, the smoothness constraint fails in cases of large-scale rotations, leading to misjudgments. To address the above issues, this paper proposes a novel robust correspondence pruning method termed RoSe, which is based on rotation-invariant sequence-aware consensus. We formulate the correspondence pruning problem as a mathematical optimization problem and derive a closed-form solution. Specifically, we devise a rectified local neighborhood construction strategy that effectively enlarges the distribution between inliers and outliers. Meanwhile, to accommodate large-scale rotation, we propose a relative sequence-aware consistency as an alternative to existing smoothness constraints, which can better characterize the topological structure of inliers. Experimental results on image matching and registration tasks demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. Robustness analysis involving diverse feature descriptors and varying rotation degrees further showcases the efficacy of our method. © 2024 ACM.
