People are increasingly expressing their views and opinions about a company's goods or service on social media these days. For all types of businesses and organizations, sentiment analysis in text can be used to find prospective customers and obtain quick feedback on the services or goods they provided. As a result, the organization has a better chance and opportunity to meet the needs of the consumer. Using sentiment analysis, we may extract important information from the thoughts and emotions of an organization's supporters and clients. It examines natural language content produced about services and goods. Detailed opinion mining at the aspect/feature level to serve consumer and organizational needs. In this study, three different machine learning algorithms, these are Naïve Bayes (NB), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and K- Nearest Neighbor (KNN) are used to build the proposed aspect-based sentiment analysis model from the customer comments in Amharic text which is collected from Ethio-telecom official Facebook page. The collected data is annotated into sentiment polarity and aspect-based sentiment classes by the help of five annotators. After data annotation, different preprocessing tasks were implemented. Bag of words and TF-IDF word representation techniques were used to represent each unique word to their vector representation. The experiment was conducted on those three models and the result was validated. The labeled aspects were not balanced so that a SMOTE class imbalance handling technique was employed to the dataset. Finally, SVM model trained with TF-IDF word representation technique with SMOTE oversampled dataset has achieved the highest accuracy result of 98% as compared to NB and KNN. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper proposes an innovative decision support system based on sentiment analysis, specifically designed for the transportation sector. The system employs an aspect-based sentiment analysis approach, which accurately identifies and classifies customer opinions on key transportation service aspects such as comfort, driver behavior, punctuality, and vehicle condition. By integrating the BERT model, known for its advanced natural language processing capabilities, our system provides an in-depth and reliable analysis of customer sentiments. This analysis enables managers and decision-makers to better understand the strengths and weaknesses of the provided transportation services and to precisely target areas that require improvement. By offering actionable insights, our approach aims to enhance the user experience, improve service quality, and increase overall customer satisfaction.

The development of smart systems is fundamental to improve the competitiveness of tourist destinations, by exploiting technologies such as Recommender systems (RS) and Decision Support systems (DSS). In this article, we propose an approach based on Model-Driven engineering (MDE) for the creation of a software factory dedicated to the design of RS and DSS for tourism destination managers. This software factory is based on two main assets: a Domain-Specific Language (DSL) for recommendation systems and another DSL for decision support systems. The main aim of this approach is to reduce the complexity and development time of this type of application.

The advent of deep Q-learning has opened up new possibilities in training autonomous agents to perform intelligently in intricate settings. This research work examines the potential of deep Q-learning in the paradigmatic Snake game, which requires an agent to navigate a grid, ingest food items, and avoid collisions. We incorporated a partially observable game state, introducing a novel level of difficulty to the task. Our proposed approach utilizes a straightforward feed-forward neural network to estimate Q-values of potential actions, given the current state. The agent progressively learns to balance between exploration and exploitation, allowing it to navigate optimally in the game scenario. Most existing studies in deep Q-learning for the Snake game overlook the complexities posed by partial observability, focusing mainly on fully observable state representations. Furthermore, the majority of the investigations delve into the efficacy of complex neural network architectures, leaving a gap in the understanding of the performance of more simplistic feed-forward networks. Our study fills this gap by offering an in-depth exploration and analysis of deep Q-learning strategies, especially when applied to partially observable game states and simple neural networks. Simulations and results reveal that adopting simpler state representations can significantly boost the agent's performance in the Snake game. A more detailed and intricate reward function is also observed to enhance the agent's decision-making skills and overall proficiency in the game. These observations underscore the significance of optimizing state representations and reward functions for maximizing the performance of deep Q-learning agents in the Snake game. © 2023 IEEE.

This study investigates the application of the Mutual Information (MI) feature selection technique to improve the accuracy of Machine Learning (ML) models on NSL-KDD datasets, building upon prior research. Six ML models, namely Decision Tree (DT), Logistic Regression (LR), K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), Random Forest (RF), Naive Bayes (NB), and Support Vector Machine (SVM) with different kernels (1st, 2nd, and 3rd), are implemented for classification purposes. The proposed DT model in this study shows higher accuracy than the DT model proposed in the original paper by Ingre et al. for Intrusion Detection System (IDS). Additionally, a multi-class classification model for NSL-KDD datasets is developed, considering both normalized and non-normalized features. Interestingly, it is observed that the models trained without normalized features achieve higher accuracies compared to those trained with normalized features. Moreover, the study enhances the classification performance of the DT-based IDS using the Correlation based Feature Selection (CFS) technique for feature selection. The proposed IDS is evaluated both before and after feature selection for multi-class classification (normal and various attack types) and binary classification (normal and abnormal data). © 2023 IEEE.

PolyCystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder frequently found in women of reproductive age having a significant impact on the cause of infertility. It is an endocrine condition characterized by abnormalities in female hormone levels and aberrant synthesis of male hormones. This syndrome causes ovarian malfunction, increasing the risk of miscarriage and infertility. PCOS has a wide range of symptoms, making a diagnosis difficult. In this study, we proposed a feature selection method based on genetic algorithm with logistic regression to increase the accuracy of early diagnosis. A dataset containing the clinical and biochemical characteristics of 109 patients, including 36 with PCOS, is used. The genetic algorithm is used to extract the most important features from the dataset. Then, a logistic regression model is used for classification. The proposed model outperformed the baseline model that used all features, which had an accuracy of 86.2%, and produced a markedly improved accuracy of 95.4%. These results show that the proposed model effectively locates key characteristics for PCOS diagnosis. © 2023 IEEE.

To ensure the security of image information and facilitate efficient management in the cloud, the utilization of reversible data hiding in encrypted images (RDHEI) has emerged as pivotal. However, most existing RDHEI schemes suffer from lower security and limited embedding capacity. To tackle these challenges, we propose a reversible data hiding with secret encrypted image sharing and adaptive coding scheme. Specifically, in the encryption phase, we introduce an improved secret sharing (SS) encryption method based on the chinese remainder theorem for polynomials (CRTP). This method not only improves the security of encrypted images but also vacates a larger room for embedding. In the embedding phase, we introduce an adaptive coding embedding approach using XOR preservation (XORP) and huffman coding, which provides high embedding capacity. Experimental results and security analysis demonstrate that our proposed encryption method achieves optimal values in security indicators for encrypted images, such as information entropy, histograms, NPCR and UACI. The proposed embedding method is superior to some state-of-the-art schemes in terms of embedding capacity. Furthermore, in datasets BOSSBase and BOWS2, the average embedding rates of the proposed embedding approach can reach 2.1745 bpp and 2.0656 bpp, respectively. © 2025 IEEE.

As the semiconductor manufacturing technology node scales down in the deep submicron domain, hotspot detection becomes more challenging and geo-contextually dependent than ever before. The need to profile IC layout patterns based on geometrical commonalities becomes a significant demand either during IC layout design or manufacturing phases. Identified hotspots during the manufacturing phase are usually correlated to specific geometrical configurations sensitive to the lithography process or other manufacturing processes. Accordingly, identifying similar geometrical configurations is an important step toward locating potential hotspots. Once these hotspots are identified, their patterns can be provided to the router to avoid using these patterns and find other valid alternatives. Furthermore, in the IC design sign-off phase or Design Rules Check (DRC), layout profiling can identify patterns with high commonalities to these problematic patterns that potentially lead to a yield loss. In this paper, we introduce automated IC layout patterns topological profiling approach using Directional Geometrical Kernels (DGKs) to capture the context of patterns around a Point-Of-Interest (POI) in an IC layout, such as a hotspot. The DGKs pattern representation provides a direct one-to-one mapping with physical geometrical measurements centered by the POI and doesn't need further feature extraction models or maps used by other pixelized gridded image-based or density-based representations, which are both time and computational resources-consuming. The DGKs are decomposed into topological and dimensional components. This makes the mechanism of patterns topological profiling not in need of complex models and can be precisely fine controlled to produce adequate patterns profiling granularity that is not easily approached by other patterns profiling alternatives. © 2023 SPIE.

The public’s health is seriously at risk from the coronavirus pandemic. Millions of people have already died as a result of this devastating illness, which affects countless people daily worldwide. Unfortunately, no specific therapeutic drugs or vaccines are available to cure patients completely. Therefore, early identification of infected individuals and their isolation can help reduce community transmission of COVID-19. Despite being commonly used, the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test is costly, time-consuming, and requires suitable kits, which are not always readily available. An alternative solution for the traditional RT-PCR test is machine learning and deep learning-based COVID-19 detection that utilizes clinical features of chest X-rays and computed tomography (CT) images. In this study, we conducted a detailed review of more than 100 recently published works to detect COVID-19-infected patients. Thus, different data preprocessing, data augmentation, image enhancement, feature extraction, machine learning, deep learning, Explainable Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods, etc. were explored to understand how these techniques were used to process images for identifying COVID-19. the growth of IoT devices presents significant security challenges due to their diverse and dynamic environments. To address this, we developed HAMI, a novel intrusion detection system. Our method leverages the GIFS algorithm, which combines feature rankings from ensemble models with genetic algorithms to uncover subtle inter-feature correlations, enhancing detection accuracy. Additionally, we introduce GridSearchSMOTE, a technique that optimizes data balancing by evaluating various SMOTE variants through a meticulous grid search, ensuring optimal performance for each dataset. Empirical evaluations of HAMI show superior accuracy, achieving a 99% detection rate and reduced false positives, outperforming existing systems. These results underscore HAMI’s potential to significantly improve IoT network security by exploring its scalability and real-time detection capabilities.
