Identifying different vehicle types can help manage traffic more efficiently, reduce congestion, and improve public safety. This study aims to create a classification model that can recognize vehicle types based on the sound of passing vehicles. To achieve this, a database of raw audio files containing 1763 samples from two sources was assembled. The time-domain signals were converted to a time-frequency representation using the short-time Fourier transform to generate Mel Spectrograms. Mel-frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCCs) were also generated using the discrete cosine transform. In our experiments we compared these approaches. Since the data was imbalanced we applied online augmentation. Based on the literature review, we chose a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) classifier because it is particularly well suited for analyzing large datasets due to its automatic feature extraction, parameter sharing and sparsity. The results showed that Mel Spectrograms were more effective for audio data preprocessing in this particular use case, achieving the highest accuracy of 0.875 and the highest f1-score of 0.877 compared to MFCCs. © 2025 IEEE computer Society. Applying evidence-based medicine prevents medical errors highlighting the need for applying Clinical Guidelines (CGs) to improve patient care by nurses. However, nurses often face challenges in utilizing CGs due to patient-specific needs. Developing a Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS) can provide real-time context-sensitive CG-based recommendations. Therefore, there is a need to acquire and represent CGs in a machine-applicable manner. Also, there is a need to be able to provide recommendations episodically, only when requested, and not continuously, and to assess previous partial performance of evidence-based actions on a continuous scale. This study evaluated the feasibility of acquiring and representing major nursing CGs, in a machine-applicable manner for episodic use. Using data from an Israeli geriatric center, the results suggest that an episodic CDSS effectively supports the application of formalized nursing knowledge. © 2024 The Authors.

Light field imaging is an important achievement in visual information exploration in recent years, which can capture more abundant visual information from the real world. However, most existing light field image quality assessment (LF-IQA) indicators rely heavily on feature extraction based on high complexity statistics in quality evaluation tasks, which is not comprehensive in future modern applications or power-limited devices. To solve this problem, the research puts forward a light field image quality evaluation method based on stereo vision. By introducing a brand-new light field image coding method and training the neural network, the purpose of image quality evaluation is finally achieved. Some experiments show that our model achieves good results in open source data sets. © 2022 IEEE.

Distributed Denial of services (DDoS) attack is one of the most dangerous attacks that targeted servers. The main consequence of this attack is to prevent users from getting their legitimate services by bringing down targeted victim. CICFlowMeter tool generates bi-directional flows from packets. Each flow generates 83 of different features. The research focuses on 8 features which are active min (f1), active mean (f2), active max (f3), active std (f4), idle min (f5), idle mean (f6), idle max (f7), and idle std (f8). CICFlowMeter tool has several problems that affected on the detection accuracy of DDoS attacks. The idle and active based feature of Shannon entropy and sequential probability ratio test (SE-SPRT) approach was implemented in this research. The problems of original CICFlowMeter were presented, and the differences between original and revised version of CICFlowMeter tool were explored. The DARPA database and confusion matrix were used to evaluate the detection technique and present the comparison between two versions of CICFlowMeter. The detection method detected neptune and smurf attacks and had higher accuracy, f1-score, sensitivity, specificity, and precision when revised version of CICFlowMeter used to generate flows. However, the detection method failed to detect neptune attack and had higher miss-rate, lower accuracy, lower f1-score, and lower specificity, and lower precision when original version used in generating flows. © 2022 IEEE.

Pneumothorax is a thoracic condition that occurs when a person’s lungs collapse,causing air to enter the pleural cavity,the area close to the lungs and chest *** most persistent disease,as well as one that necessitates particular patient care and the privacy of their health *** radiologists find it challenging to diagnose pneumothorax due to the variations in *** learning-based techniques are commonly employed to solve image categorization and segmentation ***,it is challenging to employ it in the medical field due to privacy issues and a lack of *** address this issue,a federated learning framework based on an Xception neural network model is proposed in this *** pneumothorax medical image dataset is obtained from the Kaggle *** preprocessing is performed on the used dataset to convert unstructured data into structured information to improve the model’s ***-max normalization technique is used to normalize the data,and the features are extracted from chest Xray *** dataset converts into two windows to make two clients for local model *** neural network model is trained on the dataset individually and aggregates model updates from two clients on the server *** decrease the over-fitting effect,every client analyses the results three *** 1 performed better in round 2 with a 79.0%accuracy,and client 2 performed better in round 2 with a 77.0%*** experimental result shows the effectiveness of the federated learning-based technique on a deep neural network,reaching a 79.28%accuracy while also providing privacy to the patient’s data.

Background: One of the state-of-the-art techniques for question answering frameworks is using linked data by converting the user input into SPARQL which is the query language for linked data. Objective: The main target is to emphasize the most fundamental issues while developing a question answering frameworks that accept input in natural language and converting it into SPARQL. Methods: The trend of applying linked data as a data source is gaining popularity among the re-searchers. In this study, question answering frameworks that combine both natural language processing techniques and linked data technologies are examined. Common principles of examined question answering frameworks recognize user intention, enriching natural language input and converting it to a SPARQL query. Results: 9 studies are selected for further examination to be compared by using selection criteria de-fined in the research methodology. Conclusion: Resulting outcomes are represented and compared in detail. In addition to the comparative review of systems, a general architecture of question answering frameworks on the linked data is drawn as an outcome of this study to provide a guideline for the researchers who are studying related research fields. © 2021 Bentham Science Publishers.

The Tamazight civilization stands as a significant cultural entity, marked by its linguistic diversity, historical legacy, and scriptural traditions, which collectively enrich the cultural tapestry of North Africa. Among these traditions, the Tamazight handwritten script assumes particular importance, embodying centuries of cultural identity and artistic expression. Recognizing the imperative of safeguarding this cultural heritage, our study focuses on Tamazight handwritten character recognition. Leveraging the strategic application of Transfer Learning, we explore its efficacy in this domain. Transfer Learning presents a robust framework wherein pre-existing models are adapted for specific tasks despite limited data availability. Our research employs three prominent Transfer Learning architectures: VGG, ResNet, and MobileNet. Through a rigorous comparative analysis, we discern the efficacy of these methodologies in the context of Tamazight handwritten character recognition. Our findings underscore the potential of Transfer Learning to significantly augment the accuracy and efficiency of script recognition systems, thereby advancing the overarching objective of preserving and propagating the Tamazight cultural heritage. © 2024 IOS Press. HistoDX: Revolutionizing Breast Cancer Diagnosis Through Advanced Imaging Techniques

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of mortality among women worldwide, highlighting the need for efficient histopathology-based screening methods for early diagnosis. This study introduces HistoDX, a deep learning framework to classify Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC) using 277,524 histopathology image patches (50x50 pixels) from Paul Mooney's IDC dataset on Kaggle, comprising No Cancer and IDC(+) classes. HistoDX employs a preprocessing pipeline with normalization, data augmentation, and class balancing via oversampling and weighted loss to address the class imbalance. A customized convolutional neural network, built on EfficientNetV2-B3 with additional layers, achieves 97% accuracy and a 0.91 ROC-AUC score on the test set. Validation on BreakHis (97% accuracy) and BACH (90% accuracy) datasets confirm generalizability, though detecting minority IDC(+) cases remains challenging. Low training and test losses underscore reliability. HistoDX empowers pathologists by enhancing diagnostic efficiency and minimizing subjectivity through effective class imbalance mitigation. Its robust performance across diverse datasets like BreakHis and BACH suggests readiness for clinical integration. Future research into advanced augmentation techniques, ensemble models, and whole-slide image analysis could further optimize accuracy, sensitivity, and scalability, paving the way for broader adoption in precision oncology. © 2013 IEEE.

Modern transportation systems face growing challenges in managing traffic flow, ensuring safety, and maintaining operational efficiency amid dynamic traffic patterns. Addressing these challenges requires intelligent solutions capable of real-time monitoring, predictive analytics, and adaptive control. This paper proposes an architecture for DigIT, a Digital Twin (DT) platform for Intelligent Transportation systems (ITS), designed to overcome the limitations of existing frameworks by offering a modular and scalable solution for traffic management. Built on a Domain Concept Model (DCM), the architecture systematically models key ITS components enabling seamless integration of predictive modeling and simulations. The architecture leverages machine learning models to forecast traffic patterns based on historical and real-time data. To adapt to evolving traffic patterns, the architecture incorporates adaptive Machine Learning Operations (MLOps), automating the deployment and lifecycle management of predictive models. Structure learning of Bayesian networks using sparrow optimization algorithm

Bayesian networks are powerful analytical models in machine learning, used to represent probabilistic relationships among variables and create learning structures. These networks are made up of parameters that show conditional probabilities and a structure that shows how random variables interact with each other. The structure is shown by a directed acyclic graph. Despite the NP-hard nature of learning Bayesian network structures, there has been significant progress in improving the accuracy of approximation solutions. The main focus is on score-based search strategies, which make use of functions to evaluate network models and identify structures with high scores. This study is significantly focused on structure learning Bayesian networks using the Bayesian Dirichlet equivalent uniform scoring function and metaheuristic search strategies. To this end, this paper presents the sparrow optimization algorithm (SOA), a new metaheuristic algorithm derived from the foraging behavior of sparrows. SOA performs a concurrent optimization in the solution space by simultaneously performing a local and global search that leads to the discovery of near-optimal structures. The results from our experiments on several benchmark datasets show that SOA yields overall better performance than SA and greedy search algorithms. In particular, it is claimed that by applying the proposed approach of SOA, the convergence speed is significantly higher compared with the existing ones;F1 score is 0.35 and 0.05 for the Hamming distance with better results. Given these results, signed operators prove to be very efficient in SOA’s Bayesian network structure learning as a concept, especially for real-world use. © (2024), (Society of Sytematic Innovation).
