5G communication systems provide an end-to-end wireless connection to billions of users and devices across the globe. The quality of signals received during radio communication is notably influenced by the behavior of the radio propagation channel. A major parameter used in characterizing this channel is the Path Loss Exponent (PLE). Several works that have estimated and analyzed the PLE mostly considered the effect of distance and carrier frequency. However, the effect of base station antenna height and channel bandwidth on the PLE for 5G networks have not been adequately considered. To address this, the impact of antenna height of base station and channel bandwidth on the PLE within the 5G Frequency Range 1 (FR1) frequencies was investigated in this study, specifically at 800, 3500, and 5900 MHz. The licensed EDX Signal Pro software® with Cirrus high resolution global terrain and clutter data base was utilized to model, simulate and analyze the PLE for Kano City, Nigeria. Results showed that for the tested frequencies, an increase in either base station height or channel bandwidth leads to a significant reduction in the PLE. This study can be utilized by network planning engineers and the wireless research community to further improve network implementation and optimization toward understanding the behavior of signal propagation in 5G networks and beyond.

In the field of image-based drug discovery, capturing the phenotypic response of cells to various drug treatments and perturbations is a crucial step. This process involves transforming high-throughput cellular images into quantitative representations for downstream analysis. However, existing methods require computationally extensive and complex multi-step procedures, which can introduce inefficiencies, limit generalizability, and increase potential errors. To address these challenges, we present PhenoProfiler, an innovative model designed to efficiently and effectively extract morphological representations, enabling the elucidation of phenotypic changes induced by treatments. PhenoProfiler is designed as an end-to-end tool that processes whole-slide multi-channel images directly into low-dimensional quantitative representations, eliminating the extensive computational steps required by existing methods. It also includes a multi-objective learning module to enhance robustness, accuracy, and generalization in morphological representation learning. PhenoProfiler is rigorously evaluated on large-scale publicly available datasets, including over 230,000 whole-slide multi-channel images in end-to-end scenarios and more than 8.42 million single-cell images in non-end-to-end settings. Across these benchmarks, PhenoProfiler consistently outperforms state-of-the-art methods by up to 20%, demonstrating substantial improvements in both accuracy and robustness. Furthermore, PhenoProfiler uses a tailored phenotype correction strategy to emphasize relative phenotypic changes under treatments, facilitating the detection of biologically meaningful signals. UMAP visualizations of treatment profiles demonstrate PhenoProfiler’s ability to effectively cluster treatments with similar biological annotations, thereby enhancing interpretability. These findings establish PhenoProfiler as a scalable, generalizable, and robust tool for phenotypic learning, offering transformative advancement

An analysis of optoelectronic image, received from space-based observation system has been carried out. It has been found out, that this image has a complex structure and a unimodal intensity histogram. Otsu method is chosen as to segment the image. This method is easy and relatively quick, when talking of its realization. Methods of global and adaptive thresholding have been researched to perform image segmentation. Results of experimental research of segmentation of optoelectronic image from space-based observation system with use of Otsu method are developed. Ways for future research in this area are defined.

The article deals with the problems of speed and timeliness of the development of control actions from digital management systems. Generalization of researches is given. The role of mathematical applications of game theory for the role in the implementation of fog and boundary computations in the paradigm of the development of digital signal processing systems as well as their optimization value are substantiated.A particular generalization is developed and is given from the processing of an encoded signal sequence that demonstrates the operation of a humidity sensor from the viewpoint of bringing it to the basis of an antagonistic game in order to determine the optimal strategy of the device's behaviour at a given time *** practical significance of the study is confirmed by a new approach to the implementation of economic methods for analysis of probabilistic outcomes within the framework of game theory in an algorithm for analysis of a digital signal for a linear comparator of recorded physical quantities in the form of digital levels. The value of such analysis metrics in network-centric distributed systems of the Internet of things in multiplexing environments is given. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. This paper examines innovative, including social entrepreneurship and modern opportunities for obtaining grant support for financing innovative projects, including social ones. The possibility of receiving grants from various funds is being considered. Detailed attention is paid to the stages of project development for drawing up an application for grant funding. Attention is drawn to certain nuances in the writing and processing of grant applications. We also conduct research on current conditions and factors that influence the development of innovative entrepreneurship, and compare Russian indicators with foreign ones. Data interoperability in the health sector is a current and important topic which has been the object of study in several research. Interoperability provides improved patient care quality, assists professionals in decision-making and enables healthcare organizations to remain competitive on the market. This work presents a cloud middleware based on the HL7 standard capable of encoding, storing, interoperating and integrating Electronic Health Record (EHR) data between different applications. Based on HL7 clinical document architecture, the software architecture of the proposed middleware is specified, a set of rules that maps relational data schemas to HL7 messages is described, and a tool that supports interoperability and integration of EHR data among health institutions is detailed. To validate the proposed solution, we used a real scenario of three health institutions located in the northern region of Brazil and results showed that all messages were encoded and interoperated among the health facilities. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2020.

Loss functions are at the heart of deep learning, shaping how models learn and perform across diverse tasks. They are used to quantify the difference between predicted outputs and ground truth labels, guiding the optimization process to minimize errors. Selecting the right loss function is critical, as it directly impacts model convergence, generalization, and overall performance across various applications, from computer vision to time series forecasting. This paper presents a comprehensive review of loss functions, covering fundamental metrics like Mean Squared Error and Cross-Entropy to advanced functions such as Adversarial and Diffusion losses. We explore their mathematical foundations, impact on model training, and strategic selection for various applications, including computer vision (Discriminative and generative), tabular data prediction, and time series forecasting. For each of these categories, we discuss the most used loss functions in the recent advancements of deep learning techniques. Also, this review explore the historical evolution, computational efficiency, and ongoing challenges in loss function design, underlining the need for more adaptive and robust solutions. Emphasis is placed on complex scenarios involving multi-modal data, class imbalances, and real-world constraints. Finally, we identify key future directions, advocating for loss functions that enhance interpretability, scalability, and generalization, leading to more effective and resilient deep learning models. © 2025, CC BY.

In industrial domains with time and cost intensive manual or semi-automated inspection the demand for automation is high. Utilizing state of the art deep learning models for localization in vision-based domains such as wood log analysis, the precision can be increased while reducing the demand for manual inspection. In this paper a YOLO network is trained on wood log images to allow for detection of single wood piles in images with hundreds and thousands instances. Due to the high variability in scale and large amount of wood logs within the images, common YOLO architectures are not applicable. Thus, tiling is necessitated to implicitly form a multi-resolution image pyramid. Due to lack in training data, besides common data augmentation modelling of different seasonal and weather conditions is applied. The wood log detection process can be run on a client/server architecture to allow for both, preview and refined results. Evaluation on real-world data sets shows an log detection accuracy of 82,9% utilizing a tiny YOLO model and 94,1% with a fully connected YOLO model, respectively. © 2021 The Authors.

Even though enterprise architecture management (EAM) offers a wide range of methods and tools for aligning business with IT, an architect’s work is challenged by reality. The evolution of enterprise architecture (EA) and given constraints (e.g. legacy systems and processes) lead to debts which may complicate and hinder opportunities;however, the management of such debts has not been considered in EAM research. This paper presents a framework for strategically managing EA-debt-related issues and propose open questions as well as future research directions in this field. The goal of paper is to develop a natural language processing system to extract relevant information from criminal reports or fake/propaganda. A detailed description of the developed system was made. The technical requirements were formed. System development is divided into three points: data preparation, word embedding, and classification. Structure of the product under development have been described. It used libraries and ways of implementing the used methods. The structure of the neural network, initial parameters of the network are described in detail based on knowledge rather than machine learning methods: this means that it is necessary to specify patterns, and not to have a purpose to learn and generalize them. The second aim of this project was to apply the text summarization to case reports; that is, the converting text from long, detailed reports into a coherent, natural-language summary. The article describes the implemented training of the model for identifying propaganda using keywords. That is, propaganda carries a potential fake, and since informative noise is generally dangerous and threatens the sober thinking of a person, we suggest analysing the news for propaganda. In general, there is a lot of propaganda in the world, but many more fakes do not even carry propaganda, which improves the accuracy of model training. In this way, it allows you to filter out both fakes and propaganda.
