Utility and privacy are two crucial measurements of the quality of synthetic tabular data. While significant advancements have been made in privacy measures, generating synthetic samples with high utility remains challenging. To enhance the utility of synthetic samples, we propose a novel architecture called the DownStream Feedback Generative Adversarial Network (DSF-GAN). This approach incorporates feedback from a downstream prediction model during training to augment the generator’s loss function with valuable information. Thus, DSF-GAN utilizes a downstream prediction task to enhance the utility of synthetic samples. To evaluate our method, we tested it using two popular datasets. Our experiments demonstrate improved model performance when training on synthetic samples generated by DSF-GAN, compared to those generated by the same GAN architecture without feedback. The evaluation was conducted on the same validation set comprising real samples. All code and datasets used in this research will be made openly available for ease of reproduction. © 2024, CC BY.

Federated learning has been used extensively in business inno-vation scenarios in various *** research adopts the federated learning approach for the first time to address the issue of bank-enterprise information asymmetry in the credit assessment ***,this research designs a credit risk assessment model based on federated learning and feature selection for micro and small enterprises(MSEs)using multi-dimensional enterprise data and multi-perspective enterprise *** proposed model includes four main processes:namely encrypted entity alignment,hybrid feature selection,secure multi-party computation,and global model ***,a two-step feature selection algorithm based on wrapper and filter is designed to construct the optimal feature set in multi-source heterogeneous data,which can provide excellent accuracy and *** addition,a local update screening strategy is proposed to select trustworthy model parameters for aggregation each time to ensure the quality of the global *** results of the study show that the model error rate is reduced by 6.22%and the recall rate is improved by 11.03%compared to the algorithms commonly used in credit risk research,significantly improving the ability to identify ***,the business operations of commercial banks are used to confirm the potential of the proposed model for real-world implementation.

The rapid development of Internet technology derived out a massive network text data. Therefore, how to classify the massive text data efficiently has important theoretical significance and application value. In order to acquire accurate classification results, the process has been divided into two parts. In terms of text representation, this paper proposes an online field feature selection algorithm (OFFS algorithm) based on streaming data, which solves the problems of low efficiency and memory consumption of traditional feature selection algorithms. With improvements in the vector space model, the new algorithm can select the real-time feature of the data and quickly generate text vector. In the aspect of classifier design, an OFFS-BP neural network text classifier based on BP neutral network and OFFS algorithm is designed. It adapts to the distributed parallel computing, reduces the training time and balances the computation efficiency and classification accuracy. Finally based on the Spark platform, the OFFS-BP neural network classifier is implemented. The experimental results show that the OFFS-BP neural network classifier is more suitable for big data environment with less computation time and higher classification efficiency. © Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2018.

Explicit relationships included in textual description of patterns are insufficient to establish pattern sequences. This article brings a new method of establishing pattern sequences using artificial neural networks. The method is based on extracting implicit relationships between organizational patterns using the softmax regression model by Zhang et al., which are learned by the artificial neural network and encoded in its weights. The implementation of the method is based on the mini-batch stochastic gradient descent method by Zhang et al. and the Keras application programming interface of the TensorFlow framework. To evaluate the method, we conducted four experiments on selected organizational patterns documented by Coplien and Harrison. Two pattern sequences were established in each experiment. For each pattern sequence, a pattern story was created in order to check its meaningfulness. © 2023 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

Automatic person identification (API) using human biometrics is essential and highly demanded compared to traditional API methods, where a person is automatically identified using his/her distinct characteristics including speech, fingerprint, iris, handwritten signatures, and others. The fusion of more than one human biometric produces bimodal and multimodal API systems that normally outperform single modality systems. This paper presents our work towards fusing speech and handwritten signatures for developing a bimodal API system, where fusion was conducted at the decision level due to the differences in the type and format of the features extracted. A data set is created that contains recordings of usernames and handwritten signatures of 100 persons (50 males and 50 females), where each person recorded his/her username 30 times and provided his/her handwritten signature 30 times. Consequently, a total of 3000 utterances and 3000 handwritten signatures were collected. The speech API used Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) technique for features extraction and Vector Quantization (VQ) for features training and classification. On the other hand, the handwritten signatures API used global features for reflecting the structure of the hand signature image such as image area, pure height, pure width and signature height and the Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) architecture of Artificial Neural Network for features training and classification. Once the best matches for both the speech and the handwritten signatures API are produced, the fusion process takes place at decision level. It computes the difference between the two best matches for each modality and selects the modality of the maximum difference. Based on our experimental results, the bimodal API obtained an average recognition rate of 96.40%, whereas the speech API and the handwritten signatures API obtained average recognition rates of 92.60% and 75.20%, respectively. Requirements Elicitation is the process of identifying system needs by talking with stakeholders who have a direct or indirect effect on the requirements. Requirements may be derived from several sources and are one of the most important phases of requirement engineering. We need to perform different elicitation techniques to find out the user's needs. Pre-requirements tracing is the process of determining the origins of a specific demand. Typically, certain needs arise that have no apparent source, but stakeholders will testify to their importance. Such criteria, however, are most likely dependent on tacit or tacit-like information entrenched in the issue domain. Tacit knowledge is one of the most common challenges for requirement analysts. This study contributes to constructing a systematic literature review for exploring multiple ways to model functional requirements using tacit knowledge. We have identified and analyzed 10 studies. In these research papers, different authors have discussed different methods to gather functional requirements from tacit knowledge. © 2023 IEEE.

Biometric technologies have been widely adopted in various commercial products, ranging from security systems to personal devices, due to their exceptional reliability and user-friendliness. Among these, palmprint biometrics has gained increasing attention for its advantages, such as ease of use, a larger surface area, and the ability to capture more features compared to other biometric methods. A typical palmprint biometric system involves five key stages: (a) Image Acquisition, (b) Hand Segmentation, (c) Pattern Generation, (d) Feature Extraction, and (e) Verification/Identification. The overall success of the system depends on the effectiveness of each stage, with hand segmentation being crucial for identifying the most relevant features for accurate verification. This study aims to achieve high-accuracy biometric recognition by segmenting hands from images captured in uncontrolled environments with complex backgrounds. Accuracy (ACC), Intersection over Union (IoU), F1-Score, and Dice Coefficient are the four critical metrics used to assess the performance of segmentation techniques. The findings demonstrate that the U-Net + ViT and MA-Net + ResNet34 techniques outperform traditional auto-encoder methods in both quantitative performance metrics and visual analysis, leading to significantly improved hand segmentation for biometric systems. © 2024 IEEE.

Discerning truth from deception requires innovative tools in an era besieged by misinformation. Fake news is a form of misleading information delivered as reliable news. It is mainly made up of intentionally manipulating public opinion, decision bias, and exploiting general credulity. Various supervised learning-based fake news detection and classifications only focus on the semantic values due to their subjectivity in the current context. Sentiment analysis is also a common interpretation mechanism of information mining. This research explores the role of sentiment analysis in the context of fake news detection. Sentiment analysis, a facet of natural language processing, delves into the nuanced sentiments within the text, unveiling hidden narratives and differentiating between authentic reporting and carefully crafted deception. The study employs various sentiment reasoning models, including VADER, TextBlob, and Roberta, focusing on comparative analysis. The VADER model, complemented by a Bag of Words approach, emerges as the most effective, outperforming, compared to TextBlob and RoBERTa. Especially BERT sentiment reasoner model underperformed with uneven distribution in this fake news domain. The best VADER sentiments are taken for the transitions of sequential neural network architectures such as Simple Neural Network (SNN), Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), and Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) featuring Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM). The LSTM model captures intricate patterns, dependencies, and contextual information. Evaluation metrics, encompassing accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score, provide a comprehensive understanding of models' performance. The RNN LSTM performed well compared to the other sequential models. It primely emphasised the multifaceted landscape of sentiment analysis, presenting a robust strategy for combating the proliferation of fake news in an information-abundant age. This paper proposes a novel method for estimating peripheral blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) using RGB signals extracted from fingertip videos captured by a smartphone camera. SpO2 is a critical indicator for assessing blood oxygen levels, which can significantly decrease in respiratory conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and COVID-19. Inspired by the photophysiological model, this method employs a convolutional neural network (CNN) with cascaded residual blocks to extract RGB signals from fingertip videos for SpO2 estimation. Compared to facial videos, which are susceptible to motion artifacts and ambient light variations, fingertip video signals are more stable. Experimental results on two public datasets demonstrate that the proposed method effectively estimates SpO2 and outperforms comparable methods. The feasibility and accuracy of SpO2 estimation based on RGB signals were also validated. © 2024 IEEE.
