The reliability of data transmission is one of the most important factors in building network models. The need for timely delivery of packets to the user leads to the search for new methods to improve the configuration of network structures. A study of the possibility to improve the structural reliability of multipath routing networks in the presence of request sources with full and non-full connection to a set of network paths has been conducted. Improving the reliability and fault tolerance of multipath routing networks is based on a configuration that allows new routes to be formed as a result of using segments of existing paths that have remained connected after failures. The investigated possibility of increasing the reliability of a multipath network is achieved by optimizing the placement of route switch nodes. © 2022 IEEE.

Improving Interpretability via Regularization of Neural Activation Sensitivity

State-of-the-art deep neural networks (DNNs) are highly effective at tackling many real-world tasks. However, their wide adoption in mission-critical contexts is hampered by two major weaknesses - their susceptibility to adversarial attacks and their opaqueness. The former raises concerns about the security and generalization of DNNs in real-world conditions, whereas the latter impedes users’ trust in their output. In this research, we (1) examine the effect of adversarial robustness on interpretability and (2) present a novel approach for improving the interpretability of DNNs that is based on regularization of neural activation sensitivity. We evaluate the interpretability of models trained using our method to that of standard models and models trained using state-of-the-art adversarial robustness techniques. Our results show that adversarially robust models are superior to standard models and that models trained using our proposed method are even better than adversarially robust models in terms of interpretability. Beautiful secrets: using aesthetic images to authenticate users

We propose and evaluate an authentication scheme that improves usability and user experience issues in the authentication process due to its reliance on people's aesthetic tastes and preferences. The scheme uses aesthetic images to verify the identity of computer users. It relies on three major premises regarding visual aesthetics: (i) that an individual has different preferences for different aesthetic stimuli;(ii) that these preferences are relatively consistent;and (iii) that aesthetic tastes are subjective and, therefore, there are considerable individual differences in aesthetic preferences. Following a review of the scientific basis for these premises, we describe the concept of the aesthetic evaluation-based authentication (AEbA) method and illustrate an implementation of it. We address AEbA's advantages and disadvantages relative to other related methods and conclude that it is adequate for low-to-medium security domains. It cannot serve as a compulsory method because we suspect that a certain portion of the user population lacks the degree of aesthetic sensitivity required to use the system effectively. On the plus side, the method offers a positive experience. It alleviates the burden of memorizing passwords to a minimum, and relative to other usability-oriented schemes provides better security in terms of shoulder-surfing, phishing, and password space. Finally, we report on a pilot evaluation of the concept and its feasibility that supports the method's main tenets, provides insights about implementation challenges and suggestions for improvements. © 2022, CC BY.

Open Framework for Analyzing Public Parliaments Data

Open information about government organizations should interest all citizens who care about their governments' functionality. Large-scale open governmental data open new opportunities for citizens and researchers to monitor their government's activities and improve its transparency. Over the years, various projects and systems have processed and analyzed governmental data based on open government information. Here, we present the Collecting and Analyzing Parliament Data (CAPD) framework. This novel generic open framework enables collecting and analyzing large-scale public governmental data from multiple sources. We used the framework to collect over 64, 000 parliaments protocols from over 90 committees from three countries. Then, we parsed the collected data and calculated structured features from it. Next, using the calculated features, we utilized anomaly detection and time series analysis to uncover various insights into the committees' activities. We demonstrate that the CAPD framework can be utilized to identify anomalous meetings and detect dates of events that affect the parliaments' functionality and help to monitor their activities. Attacking Object Detector Using A Universal Targeted Label-Switch Patch

Adversarial attacks against deep learning-based object detectors (ODs) have been studied extensively in the past few years. These attacks cause the model to make incorrect predictions by placing a patch containing an adversarial pattern on the target object or anywhere within the frame. However, none of prior research proposed a misclassification attack on ODs, in which the patch is applied on the target object. In this study, we propose a novel, universal, targeted, label-switch attack against the state-of-the-art object detector, YOLO. In our attack, we use (i) a tailored projection function to enable the placement of the adversarial patch on multiple target objects in the image (e.g., cars), each of which may be located a different distance away from the camera or have a different view angle relative to the camera, and (ii) a unique loss function capable of changing the label of the attacked objects. The proposed universal patch, which is trained in the digital domain, is transferable to the physical domain. We performed an extensive evaluation using different types of object detectors, different video streams captured by different cameras, and various target classes, and evaluated different configurations of the adversarial patch in the physical domain. AnoMili: Spoofing Prevention and Explainable Anomaly Detection for the 1553 Military Avionic Bus

MIL-STD-1553, a standard that defines a communication bus for interconnected devices, is widely used in military and aerospace avionic platforms. Due to its lack of security mechanisms, MIL-STD-1553 is exposed to cyber threats. The methods previously proposed to address these threats are very limited, resulting in the need for more advanced techniques. Inspired by the defense in depth principle, we propose AnoMili, a novel protection system for the MIL-STD-1553 bus, which consists of: (i) a physical intrusion detection mechanism that detects unauthorized devices connected to the 1553 bus, even if they are passive (sniffing), (ii) a device fingerprinting mechanism that protects against spoofing attacks (two approaches are proposed: prevention and detection), (iii) a context-based anomaly detection mechanism, and (iv) an anomaly explanation engine responsible for explaining the detected anomalies in real time. We evaluate AnoMili’s effectiveness and practicability in two real 1553 hardware-based testbeds. The effectiveness of the anomaly explanation engine is also demonstrated. All of the detection and prevention mechanisms employed had high detection rates (over 99.45%) with low false positive rates. The context-based anomaly detection mechanism obtained perfect results when evaluated on a dataset used in prior work. © 2022, CC BY.

Bayesian networks are powerful analytical models in machine learning, used to represent probabilistic relationships among variables and create learning structures. These networks are made up of parameters that show conditional probabilities and a structure that shows how random variables interact with each other. The structure is shown by a directed acyclic graph. Despite the NP-hard nature of learning Bayesian network structures, there has been significant progress in improving the accuracy of approximation solutions. The main focus is on score-based search strategies, which make use of functions to evaluate network models and identify structures with high scores. This study is significantly focused on structure learning Bayesian networks using the Bayesian Dirichlet equivalent uniform scoring function and metaheuristic search strategies. To this end, this paper presents the sparrow optimization algorithm (SOA), a new metaheuristic algorithm derived from the foraging behavior of sparrows. SOA performs a concurrent optimization in the solution space by simultaneously performing a local and global search that leads to the discovery of near-optimal structures. The results from our experiments on several benchmark datasets show that SOA yields overall better performance than SA and greedy search algorithms. In particular, it is claimed that by applying the proposed approach of SOA, the convergence speed is significantly higher compared with the existing ones;F1 score is 0.35 and 0.05 for the Hamming distance with better results. Given these results, signed operators prove to be very efficient in SOA’s Bayesian network structure learning as a concept, especially for real-world use. © (2024), (Society of Sytematic Innovation). Pneumothorax is a thoracic condition that occurs when a person’s lungs collapse,causing air to enter the pleural cavity,the area close to the lungs and chest *** most persistent disease,as well as one that necessitates particular patient care and the privacy of their health *** radiologists find it challenging to diagnose pneumothorax due to the variations in *** learning-based techniques are commonly employed to solve image categorization and segmentation ***,it is challenging to employ it in the medical field due to privacy issues and a lack of *** address this issue,a federated learning framework based on an Xception neural network model is proposed in this *** pneumothorax medical image dataset is obtained from the Kaggle *** preprocessing is performed on the used dataset to convert unstructured data into structured information to improve the model’s ***-max normalization technique is used to normalize the data,and the features are extracted from chest Xray *** dataset converts into two windows to make two clients for local model *** neural network model is trained on the dataset individually and aggregates model updates from two clients on the server *** decrease the over-fitting effect,every client analyses the results three *** 1 performed better in round 2 with a 79.0%accuracy,and client 2 performed better in round 2 with a 77.0%*** experimental result shows the effectiveness of the federated learning-based technique on a deep neural network,reaching a 79.28%accuracy while also providing privacy to the patient’s data.
