YGC-SLAM:A visual SLAM based on improved YOLOv5 and geometric constraints for dynamic indoor environments

Background As visual simultaneous localization and mapping(SLAM)is primarily based on the assumption of a static scene,the presence of dynamic objects in the frame causes problems such as a deterioration of system robustness and inaccurate position *** this study,we propose a YGC-SLAM for indoor dynamic environments based on the ORB-SLAM2 framework combined with semantic and geometric constraints to improve the positioning accuracy and robustness of the *** First,the recognition accuracy of YOLOv5 was improved by introducing the convolution block attention model and the improved EIOU loss function,whereby the prediction frame converges quickly for better *** improved YOLOv5 was then added to the tracking thread for dynamic target detection to eliminate dynamic ***,multi-view geometric constraints were used for re-judging to further eliminate dynamic points while enabling more useful feature points to be retained and preventing the semantic approach from over-eliminating feature points,causing a failure of map *** K-means clustering algorithm was used to accelerate this process and quickly calculate and determine the motion state of each cluster of pixel ***,a strategy for drawing keyframes with de-redundancy was implemented to construct a clear 3D dense static point-cloud *** Through testing on TUM dataset and a real environment,the experimental results show that our algorithm reduces the absolute trajectory error by 98.22%and the relative trajectory error by 97.98%compared with the original ORBSLAM2,which is more accurate and has better real-time performance than similar algorithms,such as DynaSLAM and *** The YGC-SLAM proposed in this study can effectively eliminate the adverse effects of dynamic objects,and the system can better complete positioning and map building tasks in complex environments.

Heart rate variability analysis in controls and epilepsy patients with or without receiving treatment: a clinical review and meta-analysis

The malfunctioning of cardiac autonomic control in epileptic patients develops ventricular tachyarrhythmia and causes sudden unexpected death in epilepsy patients (SUDEP). Various clinical studies investigated the effect of epilepsy on cardiac autonomic control by performing heart rate variability (HRV) analysis;however, results are unclear regarding whether sympathetic, parasympathetic, or both branches of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) are affected in epilepsy and also the impact of anticonvulsant treatment on the ANS. This study follows the systematic protocols to investigate epilepsy and its anticonvulsant treatment on cardiac autonomic control by using linear and nonlinear HRV analysis measures. The electronic databases of PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library were used for the collection of studies. Initially, 1475 articles were identified whereas after 2-staged exclusion criteria, 33 studies were selected for execution of the review process and meta-analysis. For meta-analysis, four comparisons were performed (epilepsy patients): (1) controls (healthy subject with no history of epilepsy) versus untreated patients;(2) treated (patients under treatment that have a seizure) versus untreated patients;(3) controls versus treated patients;and (4) refractory versus well-controlled (epilepsy patients that were seizure-free for last 1 year). For treated and untreated patients, there was no significant difference whereas well-controlled patients presented higher values as compared to refractory patients. Meta-analysis was performed for the time-domain, frequency-domain, and nonlinear parameters. Untreated patients in comparison with controls presented significantly lower HF (high-frequency) and LF (low-frequency) values. These LF (g = − 0.9;95% CI − 1.48 to − 0.37) and HF (g = − 0.69;95% confidence interval (CI) − 1.24 to − 0.16) values were affirming suppressed both, vagal and sympathetic activity, respectively. In the field of intelligent home care robots, privacy protection has become a focus of attention, especially in improving service quality while ensuring user privacy and security. The study explores the application of federated learning privacy protection technology in this field and analyzes the performance of different privacy technologies. The results indicate that as the privacy budget increases to 3, the overall accuracy performance of all technologies has improved. After 93 iterations, the accuracy of federated learning privacy protection technology is 96.08%;The accuracy of homomorphic encryption is 83.59%. The accuracy of secure multi-party computation and differential privacy is 73.31% and 66.74%, respectively. The increase in privacy budget has a positive correlation with the accuracy of privacy protection technology. This study provides data support and direction guidance for the optimization of privacy protection technology applications in similar fields in the future. © 2024 IEEE.

The menu interaction methods in VR, such as floating menus, are still considered unnatural. A solution is proposed in this paper where menus are tightly attached to the user's palm. Firstly, use UV mapping technology to attach the menu to the palm. Secondly, optimal layout parameters for the hand surface menu were determined through user experiments. Finally, a dataset was built to train the interaction error detection model, aiming to improve interaction success rates under various hand poses in VR. Experimental results demonstrate that compared to other VR menu methods, HSM reduces the average interaction error rate by 30.1% and shortens the average completion time by 12.4% under the optimal hand pose. © 2024 IEEE.

Sealed-bid auctions are a vital transaction tool in the e-commerce *** centralized auction schemes typically result in severe threats to data integrity,information transparency,and traceability owing to their excessive reliance on third parties,and blockchain-based auction schemes generally suffer from high storage costs and are deficient in functional and architectural *** solve these problems,this study presents a sealed-bid auction scheme that removes the third-party based on an Ethereum smart contract,ensuring data integrity,openness,and transparency in the execution *** commitment mechanism and distributed storage system help to significantly reduce the user’s storage cost and protect the privacy of user *** the functional design,this study introduces a fulltext-retrieval and dispute-processing module for commodities,which reduces the defects existing in the functional module design of existing auction ***,a prototype auction system on the Ethereum test chain is built to validate the proposed *** show that compared with traditional storage methods,indirect storage based on a distributed storage system of texts and images can reduce the storage cost by at least 50%while ensuring data ***,the gas cost at each stage of the auction scheme and the time required for the full-text retrieval of products are recorded to evaluate the scheme performance and analyze the test results.

Child safety and well-being in daycare settings are important, thus it is vital that the persons in charge be attentive to them. This research tries to solve the problem by introducing a smart and detailed monitoring system that utilizes new technology to enhance safety and support caretakers. The system has various innovative features, such as child missing detection, behavior and facial expression analysis, cry analysis and categorization, and fall detection. Using high-resolution cameras and on-device Edge AI capabilities, it ensures real-time surveillance of children's activities while protecting privacy. The approach integrates behavior and facial expression analysis to assess emotional states, cry recognition to discover childcare needs, as well as a useful fall detection system that can tell the difference between falls and other movements. All these parts synergize to hand over the necessary information to the caregivers on time and in a way that they can act upon. The quantitative experiments in real-time childcare centers show high accuracy through all the components, attesting to the system's reliability and durability. This research has important significance in improving the safety and the frequency response in daycare centers because it gives caregivers automated tools to quickly address the needs of children. While promising, the system has drawbacks, such as potential biases in data models and a reliance on ideal environmental circumstances. Future work intends to improve flexibility across varied daycare situations, improve accuracy through larger datasets, and investigate ethical frameworks for wider application. © 2024 IEEE.
