A challenge in using machine learning for tasks such as network intrusion detection and fault diagnosis is the difficulty in obtaining clean data for training in order to model the normal behavior of the *** anomaly detection techniques such as one class support vector machines (SVMs) have been introduced to overcome this *** class support vector machines model the normal or target data using non-linear surfaces in the input space while ignoring the anomalous *** approach to this problem is based on fitting a hyperellipsoid with a minimal effective radius,centered at the origin,around a majority of the data vectors in a higher dimensional *** formulate this as a linear optimisation problem,which is advantageous in terms of its computational *** demonstrate using real data from the Great Duck Island Project that our approach achieves better detection performance and flexibility in terms of parameter selection,compared to an earlier detection scheme using a quarter sphere SVM.

Wireless sensor networks are deployed for the purpose of sensing and monitoring an area of interest. Sensors in the sensor network can suffer from both random and systematic bias problems. Even when the sensors are properly calibrated at the time of their deployment, they develop drift in their readings leading to erroneous inferences being made by the network. The drift in this context is defined as a slow, unidirectional, long-term change in the sensor measurements. In this paper we present a novel algorithm for detecting and correcting sensors drifts by utilising the spatio-temporal correlation between neigbouring sensors. Based on the assumption that neighbouring sensors have correlated measurements and that the instantiation of drift in a sensor is uncorrelated with other sensors, each sensor runs a support vector regression algorithm on its neigbourspsila corrected readings to obtain a predicted value for its measurements. It then uses this predicted data to self-assess its measurement and detect and correct its drift using a Kalman filter. The algorithm is run recursively and is totally decentralized. We demonstrate using real data obtained from the Intel Berkeley laboratory that our algorithm successfully suppresses drifts developed in sensors and thereby prolongs the effective lifetime of the network.

In this paper, the influence of antenna diversity techniques adapted to the IEEE 802.15.4 radio technology are evaluated and the corresponding process gains are empirically examined. With the assumption of a WSSUS model and Rayleigh-distributed signal amplitudes, the minimum optimal antenna spacing relating to a 2D-propagation is calculated. A diversity module with three antennas, based on Freescale MC13193 transceivers, was developed by using the calculated antenna spacing. Different algorithms for signal combining were examined and evaluated with this module. The process gain of the particular algorithms was quantified by the corresponding error rate and by examination of the RSSI values. Additionally, the effects of the combining algorithms on the "digital" channel's memory were examined. For this purpose the parameters Complementary Error Distance Distribution Fac(a), Block Error Density Function P(m, n) and Error Correlation Function Ree(v) were used. © 2007 IEEE.

With the wide application of Web services, its performance has caused the extensive concern and becomes one of the key factors of determining whether it is widely applied further. Based on the idea of differentiating web services, the paper presents a SLA-based Web services performance guarantee model to improve Web services runtime environment, and expatiates on the key techniques of realizing the model: the request class utility function, the predicting model of response time, the genetic algorithm-based resource allocation and the dynamic weight-based weighted round-robin scheduling algorithm. Experiments prove the model can guarantee the response performance of Web services requests and improve the stability of the system.

Anomaly detection is an important challenge for tasks such as fault diagnosis and intrusion detection in energy constrained wireless sensor networks. A key problem is how to minimise the communication overhead in the network while performing in-network computation when detecting anomalies. Our approach to this problem is based on a formulation that uses distributed, one-class quarter-sphere support vector machines to identify anomalous measurements in the data. We demonstrate using sensor data from the Great Duck Island Project that our distributed approach is energy efficient in terms of communication overhead while achieving comparable accuracy to a centralised scheme.

The usage of advanced audio processing algorithms in products has always been limited by the available processing power. For powerful concepts like the wave field synthesis (WFS) the performance is limited by the execution speed. In the past it was possible to increase the performance of digital signal processors by increasing the clock rate. The next generation will be highly parallel heterogeneous multi-processor systems. This paper presents a now parallel processor architecture and the first stops towards an adequate optimization of WFS. A software development environment which assists in creating scalable programs for highly parallel hardware will be further explained. An enhanced WFS convolution structure is presented which use position dependent filtering and improve the interpolation necessary for moving sound sources.

This examination comprises a digital analysis of the real-time capability of Bluetooth to meet the requirements of the automation field, using ACL and SCO communication channels. The bit error ratio is taken as basic characterizing indicator for the evaluation of the reliability of the communication channels. The delay time, its variation and the corresponding jitter provide a basis to review the time behaviour. Cambridge Silicon Radios (CSR) Bluetooth chips of type BlueCore 2 and BlueCore 4 were used. Several configurations with and without activation of quality of service (QoS) have been investigated regarding delay and jitter. For the basic communication channel's description and classification in terms of burst error behaviour, the well known Gilbert-Elliott model was used. Their parameters were gained by estimations using the Baum-Welch algorithm. These practical relevant parameters of the model can be used for the development and evaluation of channel codes and safety protocols within realistic simulations.

A New Signature Scheme with Shared Verification

With expanding user demands, digital signature techniques are also being expanded greatly, from single signature and single verification techniques to techniques supporting multi-users. This paper presents a new digital signature scheme with shared verification based on the fiat-shamir signature scheme. This scheme is suitable not only for digital signatures of one public key, but also for situations where multiple public keys are required. In addition, the scheme can resist all kinds of collusion, making it more practicable and safer. Additionally it is more efficient than other schemes.
