A spatial proximity based spontaneous interaction approach for "shared nothing" peer-to-peer systems is proposed. Mobile peers that come spatially close to each other wirelessly exchange self describing profiles encoded in an XML dialect. Each peer individually conducts a similarity analysis of the semistructured data contained in the received profile, and, in case of the similarity exceeding a predifined threshold, notifies an application to start executing. Profiles are organized hierarchically, allowing for an efficient interaction check based on peer roles in the first step, and a more detailed analysis of peer preferences in the second step. A novel context-aware profile description language (PPDL) has been developed, expressing peer preferences with respect to the particular situation (like time, geoposition, owner, environmental conditions, etc.) in which the interaction among peers is attempted. The context of a peer is modelled symbolically within its profile, so that sensors can verify the actual context and use the context specific interpretation of the profile prior to similarity analysis. A fully functional software framework has been developed implementing context-aware profiles. Similarity metrics and profile matching strategies are presented and assesed. In a flexible manufactoring systems applications scenario we demonstrate its potentials in the context of wireless peer ensembles. © 2006 IEEE.

The present paper deals with automatic segmentation of mosaics, whose aim is obtaining a digital representation of the mosaic where the shape of each tile is recovered. This is an important step, for instance, for preserving ancient mosaics. By using a ground-truth consisting of a set of manually annotated mosaics, we objectively compare the performance of some existing recent segmentation methods, based on a simple error metric taking into account precision, recall and the error on the number of tiles. Moreover, we introduce some mosaic-specific hardness estimators (namely some indexes of how difficult is the task of segmenting a particular mosaic image). The results show that the only segmentation algorithm specifically designed for mosaics performs better than the general purpose algorithms. However, the problem of segmentation of mosaics appears still partially unresolved and further work is needed for exploiting the specificity of mosaics in designing new segmentation algorithms.

The seamless integration of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) components offers many benefits associated with reuse. Even with successful composite applications, unexpected interoperability conflicts can arise when COTS products are upgraded, new components are needed, and the application requirements change. Recent approaches to integration follow pattern-based design principles to construct integration architecture for the composite application. This integration architecture provides a design perspective for addressing the problematic interactions among components within the application environment. However, little attention has been paid to the evolvability of these architectures and their embedded functionality. In this paper, we discuss the need for design traceability based on the history of interoperability conflicts and resolution decisions that comprise the integration architecture. Additionally, we advocate that certain functional aspects of a pattern can be pinpointed to resolve a conflict. Combining these two aspects of integration architecture design, we illustrate that often evolution is possible with minimal changes to the integration solution. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2002.

With the advances in information and communication technologies, an immense amount of information has been shared on social media and microblogging platforms. Much of the online content contains elements of figurative language, such as, irony, sarcasm and satire. The automatic identification of figurative language can be viewed as a challenging task in natural language processing, where linguistic entities, such as, metaphor, analogy, ambiguity, irony, sarcasm, satire, and so on, have been utilized to express more complex meanings. The predictive performance of sentiment classification schemes may degrade if figurative language within the text has not been properly addressed. Satirical text is a way of figurative communication, where ideas/opinions regarding a people, event or issue is expressed in a humorous way to criticize that entity. Satirical news can be deceptive and harmful. In this paper, we present a machine learning based approach to satire detection in Turkish news articles. In the presented scheme, we utilized three kinds of features to model lexical information, namely, unigrams, bigrams and tri-grams. In addition, term-frequency, term-presence and TF-IDF based schemes have been taken into consideration. In the classification phase, Naïve Bayes, support vector machines, logistic regression and C4.5 algorithms have been examined. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In order to study the quality risk of large-scale clusters of engineering project and makes the characteristic analysis of large-scale clusters of engineering project and evaluates quality risk, the author uses analytic hierarchy process to quantify quality risk factor, and the following conclusions are obtained: (a) Construction management unit that makes the project decision-making mainly controls the QRM, comparatively speaking, it has little control over quality risk when the project is completed and ready to get acceptance (b) In the project decision-making stage, the Construction Technology has the greatest influence on the project quality management. This paper puts forward the suggestion that the influence of quality risk factors should be quantified by associated experts, so as to provide a reference for the construction quality management of large-scale cluster projects. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences. Sentiment analysis is the method of identifying and classifying the views of users from text documents into different sentiments, such as positive, negative or neutral. Sentiment analysis can be employed to extract structured and informative knowledge from unstructured text pieces. This knowledge can serve as an important source of information for decision support systems and individual decision makers. Sentiment analysis plays an important role in many fields like education, where student input is crucial for assessing the effectiveness of educational institutions. In this paper, we present a machine learning based approach to sentiment analysis on students’ evaluation of higher educational institutions. We analyze a corpus containing approximately 700 student reviews written in Turkish, with the use of conventional text representation schemes and machine learning classifiers. In the experimental analysis, three conventional text representation schemes (i.e., term-presence, term-frequency, TF-IDF scheme) and three N-gram models (1-gram, 2-gram and 3-gram) have been considered in conjunction with four classifiers (i.e., support vector machines, Naïve Bayes, logistic regression, and random forest algorithm). The predictive performance of four ensemble learners (i.e., AdaBoost, Bagging and Random Subspace and voting algorithm) have been also evaluated. Integrating COTS products into a composite application can reduce development effort and associated costs. A major drawback comes from interoperability problems that hinder the seamless integration of components. Two types of problems are prominent: architecture mismatch and security mismatch. Because of their distinct properties, each problem is currently analyzed separately. The results are integration solutions that are constructed in isolation. Combining these solutions can yield another set of problems if their functionality is conflicting, duplicated, or overly complex. It is imperative to address these issues in component based software development. In this paper, we depict the architectural differences among components, their security access control policies, and the integration solutions that result from independent analysis. This is the first step toward including architectural interoperability issues and security conflicts in the design of an encompassing solution for an integrated application. We show a composition of the two solutions, highlighting redundancy and complexity. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2002.

The dynamic stress in existing bridge transition section of often bigger than ordinary roadbed due to its stiffness irregularity, so using the ordinary subgrade bearing standard as bridge transition section standard is inappropriate. Based on the measured dynamic stress in Xin-feng river bridge transition section, related standard for raising speed and Boussinesq's answer for stress in subgrade, Evd value and bearing standard in transition section subgrade are derived. Research shows that, Evd value control standard is not than 55MPa(fine-grained soil)and not less than 40MPa (coarse-grained soil). The bearing capacity control standard is not less than 210kPa for surface layer of subgrade and 180kPa for bottom layer of subgrade, which are 30kPa bigger than ordinary subgrade. The research provides a standard basis for reinforcement in existing railway bridge transition section. © the authors.

This paper focuses on the impact of promotional activities on the order volume of e-commerce users and the influence of unexpected events such as the COVID-19 pandemic on logistics transportation volume. The VMD algorithm is utilized to preprocess the data, and a CNN_BILSTM_RF prediction model and simulated annealing optimization model are constructed. Various software tools such as Matlab and SPSS are comprehensively employed to address the issue of freight allocation for different routes in logistics transportation. Firstly, the VMD algorithm is used to denoise the grouped data, and the CNN_BILSTcM_RF prediction model is constructed using Matlab to forecast the freight volume between DC25 and DC62, yielding conclusions such as 1774.2, 2041.5, 2718.6, 2160.9, 2251.3, and so on. Secondly, the maximum freight volume and load factor for the remaining routes after shutting down the DC5 and DC9 routes are predicted and calculated. A simulated annealing model is then applied to optimize the solution, resulting in conclusions such as 11.7288, 11.332, and so on for the overall network load. Lastly, the routes are evaluated, and the optimal transportation routes are identified as DC14-DC8, DC14-DC9, and DC36-DC4, with the addition of a new route between stations 8 and 10 to alleviate their burden, among other conclusions. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper we present work towards a software framework for robots in the context of the building/construction of nextgeneration architectural designs. We call these architectural robots. Our software framework is aimed at supporting architectural robots following a chain of processing steps. These comprise iterations on processing and manufacturing steps (e.g., bending of rods, carving, shaping) together with evaluation steps (e.g., 3D scanning of an object). We describe requirements on software components and their interaction to implement these steps. Furthermore, we present some existing components and motivate the specific requirements on software-based robot frameworks for the building architecture and construction industry. © 2015 ACM.
