In order to improve the anti-shock performance of underwater target, composite materials have been widely used. A numerical model of near-field underwater explosions associated with shaped charges was developed based on the Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) method. The damage modes of composite Q235 steel/SiC ceramic/UHMWPE sandwich plates were compared. According to material properties, a new composite sandwich plate was proposed-Q235 steel/UHMWPE/SiC ceramic/UHMWPE composite sandwich plate. The effect of different material mass ratios on the protective effect of composite sandwich plates was analyzed. The results show that new composite sandwich plate underwater explosion impact resistance, anti-projectile performance greatly improved. The composite sandwich plate with proper mass ratio has superior resistance to shaped charge underwater explosion. Composite sandwich plate with faceboard UHMWPE 48.06 mm, SiC ceramic 14.63 mm and backboard UHMWPE 48.06 mm is the most effective. This pressure hull has the greatest decrease in head velocity of metal jet. The deterioration of transmission lines has a profound effect on the reliability and safety of the power grid. Accurate estimation of their age is critical for effective maintenance and investment planning. This paper proposes a method that combines the percentage statistical health index (%SHI) with failure probability curve-fitting (FPCF) to estimate the ages of overhead transmission lines. %SHI assesses equipment condition through scoring and weighting, while FPCF correlates SHI with the probability of failure. Evaluation of 924 towers situated in various terrains across Thailand reveals discrepancies between estimated and actual ages, influenced by environmental factors. To enhance reliability, proactive maintenance strategies such as regular inspections and advanced monitoring are recommended. © 2024 The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers (KIEE).

Many dynamic routing architectural patterns are available, including distributed routing, e.g., using the sidecar pattern, or centralized routing, e.g., using event stores or service buses. Different Quality-of-Service (QoS) factors influence routing schemas and technology selection, such as performance, reliability, scalability, and control properties offered by the patterns. An analytical model can formalize the QoS factors and facilitate the architectural decision-making when changing the routing scheme, i.e., to more distributed or centralized routing. So far, the impact of these architectural patterns on performability, i.e., the overall performance of a system with impeded reliability, has not been extensively studied. This is important because deciding to increase performance, e.g., by parallel processing of requests, may lead to decreased reliability because of the added points of a crash. We propose an analytical performability model during component crashes. For the empirical validation of our proposed model, we ran an extensive experiment of 2412 hours of runtime on a private cloud infrastructure and Google Cloud Platform. The low prediction error of 1.75 % indicates the high accuracy of our performability model. These results provide important insights when making architectural decisions regarding service- and cloud-based dynamic routing.

In ocean engineering, curved structures are commonly used in various marine applications, including unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). However, the interaction between underwater explosions (UNDEX) and such elastic-plastic curved structures remains insufficiently understood, particularly regarding bubble dynamics and water jet loading near deformable boundaries. To address this gap, this study presents a combined experimental and numerical investigation of UNDEX near an elastic-plastic curved double-hull structure—a configuration that has received limited prior attention. Shockwave and bubble pulsation pressures were recorded using pressure sensors, and bubble motion and jet formation were captured via high-speed imaging. Numerical simulations using the coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) method were performed to complement the experiments, covering 63 representative cases. Compared to shockwave loading alone, the combined action of shockwave, bubble, and water jet increased the outer hull deflection by 184%, highlighting the critical role of multi-source interactions. Two key parameters—distance parameter ( γ ) and ring rib position ( β )—were systematically varied to assess their influence on bubble behavior, jet dynamics, and structural damage. This study contributes new insights into the emergence of mutually deviating water jets and proposes a classification of six typical bubble shapes, four fundamental jet units, and five distinct jet types near elastic-plastic boundaries. These findings enhance the understanding of fluid-structure interaction (FSI) under multi-source loading and reveal the structural vulnerability associated with bubble pulsation and jet impact. The results underscore the importance of considering these coupled effects in the design and protection of marine structures exposed to underwater explosions.

software architecture design is an important stage in the whole software development lifecycle. There are so many various concerns at architecture level which relate to all kinds of stakeholders and describe the all facets of problem domain. Unfortunately, they often tangle and scatter in the components and connectors, result in the final architecture solutions uneasy to evolve and reuse. So in this paper, we propose a generic model named "1+X" which can separate the concern at architecture level along multiple dimensions. Also, we provide specification for each dimension and concerns in a dimension. This makes it possible to effectively cope with the crosscutting concerns at architecture level, encapsulate those using aspects or design decisions in the later architecture design activities. © 2008 IEEE.

Safety verification of fault-tolerant control systems is essential for the success of autonomous robotic systems. A control architecture called Mission Data System, developed at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, takes a goal-based control approach. In this paper, the development of a method for converting a goal network control program into a hybrid system is given and a process for converting logic associated with the goal network into transition conditions for the hybrid automata is developed. The resulting hybrid system can then be verified for safety in the presence of failures using existing symbolic model checkers. An example task and goal network is designed, converted to hybrid automata, and verified using symbolic model checking software for hybrid systems.

System-Level Test (SLT) is essential for testing integrated circuits, focusing on functional and non-functional properties of the Device under Test (DUT). Traditionally, test engineers manually create tests with commercial software to simulate the DUT's end-user environment. This process is both time-consuming and offers limited control over non-functional properties. This paper proposes Large Language Models (LLMs) enhanced by Structural Chain of Thought (SCoT) prompting, a temperature schedule, and a pool of previously generated snippets to generate high-quality code snippets for SLT. We repeatedly query the LLM for a better snippet using previously generated snippets as examples, thus creating an iterative optimization loop. This approach can automatically generate snippets for SLT that target specific non-functional properties, reducing time and effort. Our findings show that this approach improves the quality of the generated snippets compared to unstructured prompts containing only a task description. © 2024 IEEE.

The goal of this paper is to model and detect composition conflicts related to introductions. Within this context, we identify several categories of composition conflicts. To analyze the causes of these conflicts precisely, we first model the structure of programs as graphs. Next, we model introductions as graph transformation rules. We define explicit rules to describe when composition conflicts related to introductions occur. We built a prototype tool that detects and visualizes the occurrence of such conflicts in AspectJ programs, making use of an existing graph analysis and rewriting tool. The graph-based models are generated automatically from the source code of Java programs and AspectJ introductions. However, our approach does not make strong assumptions about either the aspect or base language;it has been designed to be applicable to other AOP languages. Copyright 2007 ACM.

The integration of techniques for uncertainty and sensitivity analysis in building performance simulation (BPS) has a number of potential benefits related to design. It allows assessing the accuracy of performance predictions;it can be used to provide concept specific design guidance, and it enables a robustness assessment of the design proposal to different future climate scenarios. The later is considered here. The problems associated with using climate data sets as input to sampling based uncertainty and sensitivity analysis techniques are;these represent time series data with history, and when used as reference data sets, are purpose bound. To address the problems a typical office room is exposed to measured historic weather files, projected future weather data and a derived artificial reference weather data set representative for the period and location. Its response is compared using peak cooling load as criterion for the buildings robustness. It is found that the individual artificial reference data sets are not suited to predict the peak cooling load and its uncertainty band, as they were created for the prediction of a specific performance metrics and for specific building types. However scenario based multi-year future weather data sets show the potential to be successfully used with sampling based uncertainty and sensitivity analysis techniques.
