The comprehension of human mobility patterns can offer valuable insights into the factors influencing human movements and the relationships between individuals and the structural layout of urban areas. This can have positive impacts on diverse areas including urban transportation, urban planning, urban policy development, and public health. In this paper, we introduce a straightforward Laplacian evolution method to detect the source-sink pattern of human mobility within urban areas. Specifically, we calculate the divergence of the human flow field, which is equivalent to applying Laplacian operator to the human mobility density, to identify sources and sinks in urban areas and analyze human mobility patterns from it. This paper selects four typical areas as experimental subjects, including business district, school, industrial area and residential area. And a week’s worth of mobile signaling data obtained from Quanzhou, Fujian Province, China, was used to evaluate the human mobility patterns of the experimental subjects. The results of our analysis indicate that human mobility patterns, irrespective of the type of area, can typically be classified into two modes: one for working days and another for rest days. The characteristics of each mode are consistent with conventional knowledge, suggesting that our research participants have, to a certain degree, fulfilled the urban functionality expectations. This further confirms the efficacy of the methodology we have put forward. Our implementation is available at https://***/zpnightmare/flow.

Machine Learning (ML)-based Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) is an effective technology to automatically detect cyber attacks in the Internet of Things (IoT) dependent Industrial Control Systems (ICS). It is faster, more efficient, and can detect attacks without human intervention. However, ML-based IDSs have introduced another security threat called Adversarial Machine Learning (AML). An AML attack may cause severe industrial infrastructural and production damage resulting in substantial financial loss. This paper presents an exploratory analysis of initiating an AML attack using adversarial samples created using a Fast Gradient Sign Method (FGSM). The research presented in this paper has been conducted from a dataset generated from a full-fledged singular module of a power distribution industry controlled by IoT-enabled ICSs. We explored the AML attack on Gradient Boosting (GB) and Iterative Dichotomiser 3 (ID3) model and discovered the average classification accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-scores are 87%, 88%, 87.5%, and 87%, respectively. The AML attack reduces the average precision, recall, and F1-score by 20.5%, 20.5%, and 22.5%, respectively, when 50% perturbations are added to 10% samples.

A novel multi-objective optimization based particle swarm optimization algorithm is presented to solve the global optimization problem for based services selecting in Web services composition technology. This algorithm takes Web services selection as a multi-objective constrained optimization problem with constraints. It introduces multi-objective PSO intelligent theory to optimize multi parameters simultaneously, and produces a set of constraints to meet the Pareto optimal solution. The experiments show that the algorithm is a feasible and efficient method for Web services selection.

This paper presents a numerical simulation investigation of the hydrodynamic and acoustic characteristics of ventilated supercavities that operate at various ventilation rates. The large eddy simulation (LES) and Ffowcs Williams–Hawkings (FW-H) methods are used to solve the unsteady flow field and noise. The results show that the ventilation rate plays an important role in cavity closure patterns and can improve the hydrodynamic performance. There is a transition from re-entrant flow closure to a stable double-vortex tube closure form at the supercavity tail as the ventilation rate increases. Meanwhile, under the condition of high ventilation rate, the re-entrant flow region in the cavity gradually shrinks and hairpin vortices appear, the body length of cavity increases and the unsteadiness at the supercavity tail is weakened. However, the turbulence intensity and integral scale both increase with the ventilation rate. Moreover, it is found that the noise is closely related to supercavity closure form. Ventilated supercavities with closure forms of double-vortex tubes have better noise performance. Interestingly, as the ventilation rate increases, the total sound pressure levels are improved. The wavenumber-frequency spectra of supercavity turbulent pulsating pressures under studied ventilation rates are similar, but there are some differences in some local areas. © 2023, The Authors. Scouring Development and Self-Burial of a Subsea Pipeline Attached with Porous/Flexible Spoilers

Free spanning of subsea pipelines caused by local scour is a primary concern during its operation. This study aims to propose an effective method to protect the pipeline form spanning. The experiments were conducted in clear-water scour conditions. Impermeable spoiler, porous spoiler and flexible spoiler were considered for both fixed and self-burial test. The flow fields around the pipeline were obtained using the particle image velocimetry (PIV) technique. The scour of a fixed subsea pipeline indicates the spoiler can accelerates the erosion rate significantly. When the pipeline leaves the seabed, the scour profile is featured by two scour pits and two sand dunes. The scour process of flexible spoilers includes two stages: quasi-steady and flapping and the flapping downward motion is the main cause for sediment burst. The shelter effect of flexible spoiler protects the pipeline form vigorous scouring and achieves a 10% decrease of the maximum scour depth. The trapped vortex and disturbance propagation caused by the orifice jet flow inhibits the scour process to some extent for porous spoiler. However, the self-burial results indicate the porous spoiler can accelerates the self-burial process up to 5.5 times compared to smooth pipeline and shows a better performance than impermeable spoiler. © 2023, The Authors. One of the most notable features of collectible card games is deckbuilding, that is, defining a personalized deck before the real game. Deckbuilding is a challenge that involves a big and rugged search space, with different and unpredictable behaviour after simple card changes and even hidden information. In this paper, we explore the possibility of automated deckbuilding: a genetic algorithm is applied to the task, with the evaluation delegated to a game simulator that tests every potential deck against a varied and representative range of human-made decks. In these preliminary experiments, the approach has proven able to create quite effective decks, a promising result that proves that, even in this challenging environment, evolutionary algorithms can find good solutions.

On-chip caches are commonly used in computer systems to hide long off-chip memory access latencies. To manage on-chip caches, either software-managed or hardware-managed schemes can be employed. State-of-art accelerators, such as the NVIDIA Fermi or Kepler GPUs and Intel's forthcoming MIC “Knights Landing” (KNL), support both software-managed caches, aka. shared memory (GPUs) or near memory (KNL), and hardware-managed L1 data caches (D-caches). Furthermore, shared memory and the L1 D-cache on a GPU utilize the same physical storage and their capacity can be configured at runtime (same for KNL). In this paper, we present an in-depth study to reveal interesting and sometimes unexpected tradeoffs between shared memory and the hardware-managed L1 D- caches in GPU architecture. In our study, the kernels utilizing the L1 D-caches are generated from those leveraging shared memory to ensure that the same optimizations such as tiling are applied equally in both versions. Our detailed analyses reveal that rather than cache hit rates, the following tradeoffs often have more profound performance impacts. On one hand, the kernels utilizing the L1 caches may support higher degrees of thread-level parallelism, offer more opportunities for data to be allocated in registers, and sometimes result in lower dynamic instruction counts. On the other hand, the applications utilizing shared memory enable more coalesced accesses and tend to achieve higher degrees of memory-level parallelism. Overall, our results show that most benchmarks perform significantly better with shared memory than the L1 D-caches due to the high impact of memory-level parallelism and memory coalescing.

The service delivery has lately witnessed strides in the form of paradigm shifts from conventional logistics to drone-oriented supply chain to conserve ecosystem. The use of drones or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for package deliveries offer enhanced accessibility, flexibility, efficiency, speed, safety, and even few environmental gains. However, the drones can come across various security hazards while communicating with ground installations on open channels including physical capture attack, privacy infringement, and so on. Thus, earnest endeavors are needed to fix those security challenges in applications related to drone communications. To address these problems, an efficient authenticated key agreement technique, drone access control scheme for last mile delivery (DAC-MD) is suggested for user-drone interactions in IoD environment that help the participating entities in developing a mutually agreed session key for securing subsequent communication interactions. The proposed scheme is proved using automated ProVerif tool as well as analyzed by using formal analysis based on RoR random oracle model. The comparative analysis against recently presented known studies reveals that our scheme not only carries comparable properties in terms of security and privacy, but also low computational and communication costs. © 2024 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

System-Level Test (SLT) has been an integral part of integrated circuit test flows for over a decade and continues to be significant. Nevertheless, there is a lack of systematic approaches for generating test programs, specifically focusing on the non-functional aspects of the Device under Test (DUT). Currently, test engineers manually create test suites using commercially available software to simulate the end-user environment of the DUT. This process is challenging and laborious and does not assure adequate control over non-functional properties. This paper proposes to use Large Language Models (LLMs) for SLT program generation. We use a pre-trained LLM and fine-tune it to generate test programs that optimize non-functional properties of the DUT, e.g., instructions per cycle. Therefore, we use Gem5, a microarchitectural simulator, in conjunction with Reinforcement Learning-based training. Finally, we write a prompt to generate C code snippets that maximize the instructions per cycle of the given architecture. In addition, we apply hyperparameter optimization to achieve the best possible results in inference.

The article is devoted to the development of means for recognition of the emotions of the speaker, based on the neural network analysis of fixed fragments of the voice signal. The possibility of improving recognition tools through the use of a convolutional neural network of the GoogLeNet type is shown. The expediency of training the network on the examples of the TESS database is determined. A procedure for representing a voice signal in the form of a square grayscale image has been developed. Based on the use of the specified database, the modification of the GoogLeNet network was carried out. The architecture and software implementation of the recognition module have been developed. With the help of computer experiments, it has been established that after 150 epochs of training on a fairly limited training sample, the modified GoogLeNet makes it possible to achieve an accuracy of recognition of the speaker's emotions of approximately 0.97 on test examples. The obtained accuracy is comparable to the accuracy of the best modern systems of this purpose and confirms the promise of using neural network models like GoogLeNet for emotion recognition based on voice signal analysis. The need for further research aimed at reducing the resource intensity of the neural network model is shown. © 2022 IEEE.
