In 2015,the U.S National Institute of Standards and Technology(NIST)funded the Center of Excellence for Risk-Based Community Resilience Planning(CoE),a fourteen university-based consortium of almost 100 col-laborators,including faculty,students,post-doctoral scholars,and NIST *** paper highlights the scientific theory behind the state-of-the-art cloud platform being developed by the CoE-the Interdisciplinary Networked Community Resilience Modeling Environment(IN-CORE).IN-CORE enables communities,consul-tants,and researchers to set up complex interdependent models of an entire community consisting of people,businesses,social institutions,buildings,transportation networks,water networks,and electric power networks and to predict their performance and recovery to hazard scenario events,including uncertainty propagation through the chained *** modeling environment includes a detailed building inventory,hazard scenario models,building and infrastructure damage(fragility)and recovery functions,social science data-driven house-hold and business models,and computable general equilibrium(CGE)models of local *** important aspect of IN-CORE is the characterization of uncertainty and its propagation throughout the chained models of the *** illustrative examples of community testbeds are presented that look at hazard impacts and recovery on population,economics,physical services,and social *** overview of the IN-CORE technology and scientific implementation is described with a focus on four key community stability areas(CSA)that encompass an array of community resilience metrics(CRM)and support community resilience informed *** testbed within IN-CORE has been developed by a team of engineers,social scientists,urban planners,and *** models,begin with a community description,i.e.,people,businesses,buildings,infras-tructure,and progresses to the damage and loss of functions caused by a hazard scenario

Study on Ensemble based Clustering Algorithm for Gene Expression Data

Cluster analysis, one of the most powerful tools for analysing gene expression data, has been frequently used to obtain information and knowledge for supporting decision-making for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Recently, more scholars are dedicated to ensemble-based clustering algorithms for gene datasets. The consensus function is the key of ensemble clustering to integrate clustering results of the base clustering algorithms. In this paper, we propose a new consensus function that transforms multiple clustering results into a co-association matrix according to the weighted voting derived from the mutual information, where the values determining whether two samples belong to the same cluster. The computational experiments on multi-dataset of gene expression using the ensemble clustering algorithm based the new consensus function are conducted. Comparing to the base clustering algorithms including K-Means, DBSCAN and hierarchical clustering as benchmarks, our algorithm presents its superiority.

Industrie 4.0 (I4.0) aims at a manufacturer-independent, vertical- and horizontal-oriented communication and cooperation within smart factories. This is only manageable using international standards. The so-called reference architecture model for Industrie 4.0 (RAMI4.0) and the requirement specification of an I4.0 component are already available. RAMI4.0 could be the basis for the interoperability of the interactions. The working group “Semantic and interaction model for I4.0 components” (GMA 7.20) made progress in this direction. The language used for the interaction of I4.0 components needs model definitions for the interaction consisting of the structure of the components, syntax for the description of the messages and the means to assign the meaning to the language elements. This paper discusses the results for a broader audience.

With the continued success of the open RISC-V architecture, practical deployment of RISC-V processors necessitates an in-depth consideration of their testability, safety and security aspects. This survey provides an overview of recent developments in this quickly-evolving field. We start with discussing the application of state-of-the-art functional and system-level test solutions to RISC-V processors. Then, we discuss the use of RISC-V processors for safety-related applications; to this end, we outline the essential techniques necessary to obtain safety both in the functional and in the timing domain and review recent processor designs with safety features. Finally, we survey the different aspects of security with respect to RISC-V implementations and discuss the relationship between cryptographic protocols and primitives on the one hand and the RISC-V processor architecture and hardware implementation on the other. We also comment on the role of a RISC-V processor for system security and its resilience against side-channel attacks.

A NEW GENERATION OF HIGH-PERFORMANCE PLANING CRAFT

Germany and an M.S. in naval architecture and marine engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1976. He then joined Litton Ship Systems to work on the DD-963 and LHA programs. He was principal research scientist at Hydronautics and technical director with Designers and Planners before forming in 1976 together with S. Glatz and J. Drewry Advanced Marine where he is responsible for engineering and technical matters on behalf of the corporation. Joseph Koelbel: a senior naval architect at Advanced Marine Enterprises Inc. has for many years specialized in the design of high-speed rough-water boats including a record-setting race boat passenger boats and patrol boats such as the CPIC and the PBM. He received special recognition for his contributions to and editing of the Planing Concept Volume of the Advanced Naval Vehicles Concept Evaluation Study. He is a member of ASNE SNAME (past chairman planing boats panel of the Hydrodynamics Committee) and ABYC. He is the author of a number of published papers on small-craft design. Ray Sheldon:is the head of computer applications at Advanced Marine Enterprises Inc. where he directs activities in computer-aided ship design software development and ship performance prediction. Previously at the Hydronautics Ship Model Basin he was involved in nearly all aspects of ship hydrodynamics and the development and refinement of test methodologies and equipment. Mr. Sheldon is a 1973 graduate of Webb Institute of Naval Architecture (B.S. naval architecture and marine engineering) a member of ASNE and an associate member of SNAME. He is the author of several published papers concerning ship design and experimental methods.

Key aspects of the design development of a capable yet affordable high performance craft are addressed. These aspects include the development of mission requirements, the rationale for major design decisions, performance capabilities, and system and subsystem selection. The superior performance of the design, as demonstrated by an extensive model test program, led to the decision to develop a family of advanced fast patrol boat concepts. Selected family members are also briefly introduced. The paper, furthermore, demonstrates the successful integration of many major computer-aided design (CAD) programs currently in use for U.S. Navy ship design.

ADVANCED AVIONICS architecture - THE NAVAIR STUDY

作者： KATZ, RS JAHNKE, L JEWETT, CE Cdr. Larry Jahnke USN:is presently Head of the Architecture Branch of the Avionics Engineering division AIR-546 of the Naval Air Systems Command. Among his current responsibilities is to lead implementation activities of the NAVAIR Advanced Avionics Architecture study described in this paper. Cdr. Jahnke graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. degree in aeronautical engineering and was commissioned in 1974. After flight training as a Naval flight officer he was assigned to Naval Air Station Barbers Point Hawaii where he served as Tactical Coordinator for P-3B aircraft. He was assigned to the Communications Directorate of the Joint Staff in 1990 where he participated in support of Desert Shield/Desert Storm and was part of the original cadre of officers responsible for the “C41 for the Warrior” concept. Cdr. Jahnke also has a Master of Science degree from the University of Southern California and is a 1990 graduate of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. Cdr. Charles E. Jewett USN:is currently the Common Avionics Requirements Officer for Naval Aircraft Programs. He has served the Navy as an Aeronautical Engineering Duty Officer since 1982 with previous defense acquisition assignments as the Avionics Architecture and Engineering Branch Head Fighter/Attack Avionics systems Engineering Branch Head and A-12 Avionics Officer and A-6F Deputy Program Manager and the A-6 Avionics Officer. Cdr. Jewett entered the Navy as an Aviation Officer Candidate in 1971 receiving his commission and earning his wings as a Naval Flight Officer the same year. After graduating from the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School in 1976 he was assigned to the Strike Aircraft Test Directorate of the Naval Air Test Center where he participated in various electronic warfare electro-optics and software update evaluations for A-6 EA-6B and OV-10 aircraft. To establish a planning basis for future avionics systems, the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) conducted an avionics architecture investigation during 1992-1993, culminating in a final report published in August 1993. In the course of the study, U.S. Industry provided significant information to a NAVAIR avionics database for both technologies and systems integration methods. From the study emerged an implementation strategy to allow NAVAIR to develop effective avionics systems in the future that use commercial products and standards where applicable but also allow the ready use of new and emerging technologies. Recommended strategies concentrate on the development process, especially the use of sound systems engineering techniques and the maximum practical use of commercial standards and products. This paper reviews the methodology employed during the NAVAIR investigation, and presents the key findings and resulting implementation strategies. The paper concludes with a brief summary of current implementation plans at NAVAIR.

Research on the Accurate Extraction Method of 3d Point Cloud Feature Data for Simulated Loading Test of Container Ships

This paper presents a complete process for simulated container loading test technology, from data preprocessing, feature data segmentation and extraction, to accuracy assessment. The use of these simulated container loading test methods based on point cloud data has become a breakthrough key technology for container shipbuilding with the application of three-dimensional laser scanning devices in ship manufacturing, allowing improvements in the long cycles, high costs, and low production efficiency of traditional methods of container loading. For point clouds of cargo holds, a statistical outlier removal algorithm is first used to remove noise and pseudo-image, and the RANSAC algorithm is used to remove cargo wall and cargo bottom point clouds. Based on the DBSCAN algorithm and region-growing algorithm, an algorithm for multiple segmentation and extraction of guide rail and bottom cone point clouds is proposed, and a four-plane segmentation of guide rails is realized. Finally, the 3D point cloud data flatness assessment method and the guide rail lateral and longitudinal spacing calculation method based on the Hausdorff distance are proposed, and technical and accuracy assessments are conducted on a cabin of a 16,000 TEU container ship. © 2024, The Authors. Chiral metamaterials are manmade structures with extraordinary mechanical properties derived from their special geometrical design instead of the chemical composition. To make the mechanical deformation programmable, the Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline (NURBS) curves are taken to replace the traditional ligament boundaries of the chiral structure. The Neural Networks are innovatively inserted into the calculation of mechanical properties of the chiral structure instead of finite element methods to improve computational efficiency. For the problem of finding structure configuration with specified mechanical properties, such as Young’s modulus, Poisson’s ratio or deformation, an inverse design method using the Neural Network-based proxy model is proposed to build the relationship between mechanical properties and geometric configuration. To satisfy some more complex deformation requirements, a non-homogeneous inverse design method is proposed and verified through simulation and experiments. Numerical and test results reveal the high computational efficiency and accuracy of the proposed method in the design of chiral metamaterials. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.
