The present study analyzed data collection, coding and transmission modes involved in building energy consumption monitoring platform. By analyzing and designing the functions, data collection and management of the system, data analysis and display, data monitoring and remote control, monitoring and prediction and analysis of pipe network, it proposed a design framework of the building energy consumption monitoring platform;and made a verification in the campus building energy consumption monitoring platform, which realized the real-time data collection of energy consumption monitoring and the dynamic monitoring of building energy consumption, and improved the decision level of intelligent building management. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Testing executable business processes, e.g., developed in BPMN 2.0 or WS-BPEL, is an important task within development projects. However, this task is labor-intensive due to the amount and scale of interactions of a test framework (e.g., BPELUnit) with the process under test. We want to help testers to debug test case failures by visualizing the test run information as a BPMN diagram. We developed a visual, BPMN-based notation for visualizing test runs, implemented a generation from BPELUnit test suites and execution logs to the newly defined format, and applied this in an industrial project. While no thorough validation has yet been performed, early results indicate better understandability of our notation compared to raw test logs. © 2024 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

By examining the experiences of these projects, conclusions about how to apply methods and tools can be made.

Research related to the problem of automatic parking of driverless passenger vehicles is of great importance, and this paper presents a series of studies on the path planning problem of automatic parking of driverless passenger vehicles. For Problem 1, three physical problems are solved: solving for the minimum turning radius, the shortest distance required, and the limiting relationship between the magnitude of curvature change on the path relative to the path length under the respective conditions. The structural Ackermann physical model involved in this driverless bus is analyzed in depth, and with the help of the differential equation system model and related physical concepts and formulas, a car motion model is established, and the minimum turning radius of 4.9947 m and the minimum distance of 5.23 m are successfully solved. The mathematical model of parking from the initial position to the specified parking space under the specified conditions is required. After analyzing the basic models of the Ackermann model, such as state equations, path smoothing and trajectory generation, the relevant mathematical models for solving the critical conditions were established and the RRT algorithm was used to build the model. Finally, the resultant model is obtained by MATLAB. © 2023 IEEE.

Problem of identifying building crack is studied to provide technical support for the construction quality. In the building, building crackis an important factor affecting the construction quality. This paper presents a building crack recognition method based on cloud computing. Cloud model is established to pretreat the acquired building image, so as to improve image quality, and perform construction cracks identificationaccording to the processed image. Experimental results show that the improved algorithm for cracks construction identification can improve the recognition accuracy. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

SAGA 2001, the ?rst Symposium on Stochastic Algorithms, Foundations and Applications, took place on December 13–14, 2001 in Berlin, Germany. The present volume comprises contributed papers and four invited talks that were included in the ?nal program of the symposium. Stochastic algorithms constitute a general approach to ?nding approximate solutions to a wide variety of problems. Although there is no formal proof that stochastic algorithms perform better than deterministic ones, there is evidence by empirical observations that stochastic algorithms produce for a broad range of applications near-optimal solutions in a reasonable run-time. The symposium aims to provide a forum for presentation of original research in the design and analysis, experimental evaluation, and real-world application of stochastic algorithms. It focuses, in particular, on new algorithmic ideas invo- ing stochastic decisions and exploiting probabilistic properties of the underlying problem domain. The program of the symposium re?ects the e?ort to promote cooperation among practitioners and theoreticians and among algorithmic and complexity researchers of the ?eld. In this context, we would like to express our special gratitude to DaimlerChrysler AG for supporting SAGA 2001. The contributed papers included in the proceedings present results in the following areas: Network and distributed algorithms; local search methods for combinatorial optimization with application to constraint satisfaction problems, manufacturing systems, motor control unit calibration, and packing ?exible - jects; and computational learning theory.

We have through participatory exploration scrutinized embodied media bias and representation with Herero elders in Namibia. A renovation wave calls for an integrated, participatory, and neighbourhood to neighbourhood approach tailored to the local environments. This can be hindered by the lack of geometric and performance input data about the existing building stock. Depending on the Level of Detail (LOD) of buildings in national registries the calculation results for heat loss and energy performance differ. This paper aims to analyse the impact of LOD on heating energy demand (HED) and energy performance value (EPV) using existing data from the building registry and digital twin model. As a rule, compared to the calculations based on project data or to the measured energy consumption, the calculations based on the LOD building geometry overestimate the HED and EPV. When comparing different LOD, using the same building sample, the difference between heating energy demand (HED) and energy performance value (EPV) ranges from 1% to 57% and 1% to 41% (complex geometry) or from 2% to 7% and 2% to 5% (unsophisticated geometry) accordingly. The results exhibit a good correlation of the discrepancy between the difference in the shape of LOD and the building in the reality and show that the more complex the shape of the buildings, the more important it is to use highest LOD possible. Pooling the building envelope heat loss calculation on a district level improves accuracy on average allowing better assessment of comparative renovation strategies. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Integrating virtual reality technology into architecture education: the case of architectural history courses

Purpose: Virtual reality (VR) technology invaded various domains including architecture practice and education. Despite its high applications in architecture design education, VR has a high potential to be used in architectural history courses as well. This paper aims to examine the effect of using VR technology on the students’ learning abilities of history of architecture. Design/methodology/approach: The experimental approach was used. Two experiments were designed by creating virtual environments for two selected architectural examples from the Modern architecture course. The participants who were students of Modern architecture class had to complete two questionnaires, one for each example. The first one was based on Bloom’s taxonomy, and the other was prepared to test the participants’ analytical and critical skills. Besides, participants had to fill out satisfaction and ease-of-use survey on a five-step Likert scale. Findings: Participants in the VR condition achieved better grades in knowledge gain compared to those in the traditional conditions. Their analytical and critical thinking skills were improved in the VR conditions. Gender has a significant impact on analytical and critical thinking skills. Participants recorded a high level of satisfaction;however, male students were more satisfied than female students who reported concerns about the weight of the used tools and nausea symptoms. Research limitations/implications: This study informs architecture education and provides insights into the potentials of using advanced technology in architectural history education. Teaching the various history of architecture courses will be improved, shifted toward a more student-centered curriculum, and may acquire more excitement and conscious curiosity.
