Problem of identifying building crack is studied to provide technical support for the construction quality. In the building, building crackis an important factor affecting the construction quality. This paper presents a building crack recognition method based on cloud computing. Cloud model is established to pretreat the acquired building image, so as to improve image quality, and perform construction cracks identificationaccording to the processed image. Experimental results show that the improved algorithm for cracks construction identification can improve the recognition accuracy. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Intent Based Networking (IBN) is a new paradigm that promises to create autonomous networks that can comply to high-level intents of network users and exhibit self-adaptation and self-optimization properties. The major IBN component to achieve this is network assurance. The assurance has as a goal to autonomously trigger corrective actions, whenever the conditions of the network do not allow to fulfill the performance requirements of its users. Accordingly, network assurance is expected to be largely based on monitoring and telemetry processes running conjointly with state of the art Artificial Intelligence techniques that will set off remedy solutions to bring the network into a compliance state. Given the importance of IBN and network assurance into the designing of autonomous networks, this paper introduces the main architectural components and technologies needed to achieve this visionary evolution of next generation networks. Particular emphasis is placed on how the network can interact with the end users and network operators in an easy way as mandated by the IBN premises. Finally, light is shed on the open challenges and future directions of this novel but unexplored research topic. © 2023 IEEE.

Responsive, dynamic architectural surfaces: From conceptualization to implementation

In this paper, we present a case for the design and implementation of responsive, dynamic architectural surfaces as potential instruments to provide a structural function together with an aesthetic purpose and informative one. Responsive architectural surfaces are those than provide a dynamic structure-that is, it can morph or change in terms of its shape and content displayed on it according to different environment factors. These factors include how many people are around a structure and how they behave with and around it. In addition, environment information such air quality, temperature, noise level, sunlight quantity, and humility can all be captured, transformed, and returned in way the is perceivable by people, with the aim of highlighting different aspects of the information. An end goal, for example, may be to use these systems to raise awareness about a sensitive public issue (e.g., air and sound pollution level in an environment) in a subtle, implicit manner. In this paper, we describe 3 working systems, their purpose and technological features. In addition, we present a system we are currently developing. With these four example systems, we hope to provide a deeper understanding of what responsive, dynamic architectural surfaces can be useful for and their implementation challenges.

Efficient Algorithm for Energy-Aware Virtual Network Embedding

Network virtualization is a promising approach for resource management that allows customized Virtual Networks （VNs） to be multiplexed on a shared physical infrastructure. A key function that network virtualization can provide is Virtual Network Embedding （VNE）, which maps virtual networks requested by users to a shared substrate network maintained by an Internet service provider. Existing research has worked on this, but has primarily focused on maximizing the revenue of the Internet service provider. In this paper, we consider energy-aware virtual network embedding, which aims at minimizing the energy consumption for embedding virtual networks in a substrate network. In our optimization model, we consider energy consumption of both links and nodes. We propose an efficient heuristic to assign virtual nodes to appropriate substrate nodes based on priority, where existing activated nodes have higher priority for hosting newly arrived virtual nodes. In addition, our proposed algorithm can take advantage of activated links for embedding virtual links so as to minimize total energy consumption. The simulation results show that, for all the cases considered, our algorithm can improve upon previous work by an average of 12.6% on acceptance rate, while the consumed energy can be reduced by 12.34% on average.

In recent years multi-core processors have seen broad adoption in application domains ranging from embedded systems through general-purpose computing to large-scale data centres. Simulation technology for multi-core systems, however, lags behind and does not provide the simulation speed required to effectively support design space exploration and parallel software development. While state-of-the-art instruction set simulators (Iss) for single-core machines reach or exceed the performance levels of speed-optimised silicon implementations of embedded processors, the same does not hold for multi-core simulators where large performance penalties are to be paid. In this paper we develop a fast and scalable simulation methodology for multi-core platforms based on parallel and just-in-time (Jit) dynamic binary translation (Dbt). Our approach can model large-scale multi-core configurations, does not rely on prior profiling, instrumentation, or compilation, and works for all binaries targeting a state-of-the-art embedded multi-core platform implementing the ARCompact instruction set architecture (Isa). We have evaluated our parallel simulation methodology against the industry standard Splash-2 and Eembc MultiBench benchmarks and demonstrate simulation speeds up to 25,307 Mips on a 32-core 86 host machine for as many as 2048 target processors whilst exhibiting minimal and near constant overhead. © 2011 IEEE.

This paper builds a Wordle Word Difficulty Assessment Model based on Machine Learning which achieves input 5-letter English words, can output the predicted the percentage of different tries times on the specified date, and the word difficulty level (difficult, average or easy). First, the Regressor Chain is applied to correlate a set of independent variables (percentage of different tries) and dependent variables (frequency of each letter, word frequency, lexical properties, number of common letter combinations, number of repeated letters, date) in a certain order. Then, based on the Decision Tree, build Wordle Word n-tries percentage Prediction Model. The final implementation: input 5-letter word, output n tries percentage. Second, Using the optimized KNN clustering algorithm with percentage of n tries as a variable, three difficulty levels -'difficult', 'medium' and 'average' were classified. Next, the KNN Regression Model was optimized using the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to build Wordle Word Difficulty Assessment Model. This model can classify the difficulty level of any 5-letter English word. By this model, it can also provide a solution to better enhance the user experience and increase the popularity of the game. In a way, this scientific analysis of Wordle historical data, which can better guide the future innovation and ideas of this popular game. © 2023 IEEE.

Keeping healthy diet and lifestyle is the most effective way to prevent disease. But usually people only know some basic physical information like height, weight, heartbeat, and so on. They have no idea whether their food habit or lifestyle will affect their health. This paper, based on the scene of health cloud, proposes a knowledge reasoning model which includes knowledge analysis module, ontology modeling module, decision engine, rule engine and semantic template. The model provides a method which can analyze the diet and lifestyle information of people. And the information can be achieved from the domain ontology which is pretreated by domains experts. With the results of semantic reasoning processes, people can get some better healthy diet and lifestyle advices. An example of health diet has been constructed to test the performance of knowledge reasoning model. The results indicate that the model can effectively work for knowledge reasoning in health cloud. © 2011 IEEE.

For the development of complex systems it is important to ensure that design specifications and requirements are consistent. Unfortunately, requirements are often written in natural language and are weakly structured which hinders automatic processing. Manual steps or formal specifications are necessary which are time consuming, error prone and often not suitable for complex systems. We present a graph-based, linguistic method to check the consistency of design specifications against requirements automatically. Our approach is able to propose recommendations to resolve inconsistencies. We evaluated our approach in an industrial setting which demonstrated the practical applicability and usefulness. © 2016 ACM.

Structural reliability is an important method to measure the safety performance of structures under the influence of uncertain *** structural reliability analysis methods often convert the limit state function to the polynomial form to measure whether the structure is *** uncertain parameters mainly exist in the form of *** method requires a lot of calculation and is often difficult to achieve *** order to solve this problem,this paper proposes an interval variable multivariate polynomial algorithm based on Bernstein polynomials and evidence theory to solve the structural reliability problem with cognitive *** on the non-probabilistic reliability index method,the extreme value of the limit state function is obtained using the properties of Bernstein polynomials,thus avoiding the need for a lot of sampling to solve the reliability analysis *** method is applied to numerical examples and engineering applications such as experiments,and the results show that the method has higher computational efficiency and accuracy than the traditional linear approximation method,especially for some reliability problems with higher ***,this method can effectively improve the reliability of results and reduce the cost of calculation in practical engineering problems.

Web Service technologies offer a successful way for interoperability among applications. However, although current approaches are beginning to address how to specify non-functional capabilities in Web Services at description level, they have so far failed to propose an acceptable method to decouple the named capabilities from Web Service implementations, resulting in a large amount of code scattered and tangled all over the application. Considering it is our desire to minimize middleware participation in nonfunctional properties management, it is the aim of this paper to describe how aspect-oriented techniques can be used in conjunction with WS-Policy in order to allow the mentioned properties to be completely decoupled at description and implementation level, thus improving their reusability and service maintenance and evolution. © 2006 IEEE.
