Automated modulation recognition is a challenging task in communication systems. Leveraging recent advancements in transfer learning, this paper proposes a novel method for automatic modulation recognition using transferred computer vision models. The method allows fine-tuning of the vision models to recognize modulation signals through spectrum and constellation diagrams. Experiments on the Radioml dataset demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms recent traditional methods by 8.97%, with an average accuracy of 0.5732. An ablation study confirms the effectiveness of using spectrum and constellation diagrams. This study verifies the feasibility of transferring vision models to AMC tasks. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Restoring the patient's occlusal function of broken teeth is a challenging task since tooth texture is very complex, a slight deviation may affect the patient's chewing function and temporomandibular joint function. Therefore, how to efficiently repair the complete shape and real surface of the crown is a critical problem. Traditional technologies are hard to restore complete shape of the dental crown or lack inlay surface details, due to dataset limitations and complexity of missing parts. In this paper, we propose a multi-view crown restoration framework MVDC based on contrastive learning. Specifically, MVDC contains: 1) a multi-view generator with a specially designed loss measurement by using contrastive learning;2) a multi-scale discriminator mechanism able to consider relation and consistency between teeth from different scales;3) an occlusal groove extraction network to extract the occlusal details. We conducted extensive experiments on existing public datasets. The results showcase the superior performance of MVDC. © 2025 IEEE.

Emergency response is any systematic response to unexpected events that pose potential risk and/or damage to human life or property. Outbreak of virus, leak of poisonous chemicals, and terrorist attack are just a few examples. The goal of emergency response is to minimize the adverse impact of an incident to society and the environment. To guarantee the implementation of its handling procedure, adequate resources must be available. The success of emergency response also relies on the timeliness of related rescue actions. This paper presents resource-oriented timed workflow nets for the modeling and analysis of the resource requirements in responding to an emergency incident, as well as the time required to complete prescribed response tasks. This new model provides a formal basis for process designers and practitioners to examine the readiness and efficiency of their emergency plans. The presented algorithm can be applied to workflows with sequential, concurrent, decision-making and repetitive structures. A case study on chemical spill response is presented to illustrate the application of the proposed model. © 2013 IEEE.

Automatic Positioning of Intelligent Mobile Robot Based on Improved Front-End Scanning Matching

Traditional autonomous navigation methods for mobile robots mainly rely on geometric feature-based LiDAR scan-matching algorithms, but in complex environments, this method is often affected due to the presence of moving objects, occlusions, and other interfering factors, resulting in a decrease in positioning accuracy. With the growing demand for robotics applications in logistics, security, exploration and other fields, the need for robust autonomous navigation and high-precision mapping in highly dynamic and complex environments is becoming more and more urgent. To solve this problem, an improved front-end scan matching algorithm based on Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) LiDAR is proposed in this paper. Firstly, by using the target Doppler velocity information provided by the FMCW LiDAR, we design a novel point cloud segmentation algorithm based on velocity clustering, which is able to effectively distinguish between stationary and moving objects, and avoid the dynamic interference affecting the position estimation. Secondly, we introduce the Gaussian Mixture Model Sampling Consistency (GMMSC) algorithm, which is more robust to reject the mis-matched pairs in the scanning matching process and improve the alignment accuracy. Finally, based on the residual high-quality matched pairs, we combine the classical ICP algorithm with the robust kernel function to further enhance the stability of the position estimation in the case of occlusion and local mismatch. The experimental results show that the proposed improved algorithm significantly improves the mapping capability of mobile robots in complex environments compared with the existing techniques. The average relative error of the improved front-end scanning matching algorithm is reduced by 40.6 % compared with the pre-improved one. © 2025, Taiwan Ubiquitous Information CO LTD. Scalable Motion Estimation and Temporal Context Reinforcement for Video Compression Using RGB Sensors

We propose a novel deep learned video compression technique, named scalable motion estimation (SME), which is designed for video data generated by sensor systems in smart devices. These devices face unique challenges due to limited bandwidth, constrained computational resources, and the complexity of real-world scenarios. Existing learned video compression methods primarily rely on optical flow for motion estimation;however, optical flow often suffers from inaccuracies and displacement errors, resulting in imprecise motion vectors, and the increasing complexity of models further limits their deployment in resource-constrained environments. To address these issues, the SME framework introduces a hierarchical motion vector enhancement strategy that progressively optimizes motion information in video captured by sensors. In addition, we propose the temporal context reinforcement (TCR) module, which partitions high-dimensional contextual information into three components. Compared to direct context encoding methods, the TCR module optimizes bit allocation, achieving a more balanced distribution of high- and low-frequency information. Extensive experiments on benchmark datasets demonstrate that the SME framework substantially enhances the efficiency and performance of video compression systems on RGB sensor-captured videos, making it particularly suitable for video applications. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

Hyperspectral Image Classification Method Based on Global Space-Spectral Attention Mechanism

In hyperspectral remote sensing imagery, pixel interactions within defined spatial extents result in the mixing of adjacent pixels. Additionally, the high similarity of adjacent spectra leads to information redundancy, which hinders the extraction of global spatial and spectral correlations. In order to solve the problems of mixed adjacent pixels and redundant adjacent spectra, this work offers a hyperspectral image classification approach that uses a global space-spectral attention mechanism. First, the proposed method’s global spatial attention module uses multi-scale dilated convolution to produce a bigger receptive field to be capable of capturing global spatial correlation and obtain unmixed pixel information. Then, the global spectral attention module designs a spectral domain partition algorithm, using the combination of regional density as well as information entropy as the threshold to divide spectrum into dispersed subsets and eliminate redundant information. The global context information for entire spectral band is fully exploited, and correlation of the global spectral information is extracted. Finally, the two modules combine to provide a global correlation of space and spectrum. Experiments demonstrate that the suggested method obtains overall accuracies of 97.28%, 94.73%, and 95.76% on the three WHU-Hi hyperspectral datasets, surpassing comparison methods. © Shanghai Jiao Tong University 2024.

Zero-shot anomaly detection (ZSAD) identifies anomalies without needing training samples from the target dataset, essential for scenarios with privacy concerns or limited data. Vision-language models like CLIP show potential in ZSAD but have limitations: relying on manually crafted fixed textual descriptions or anomaly prompts is time-consuming and prone to semantic ambiguity, and CLIP struggles with pixel-level anomaly segmentation, focusing more on global semantics than local details. To address these limitations, We introduce KAnoCLIP, a novel ZSAD framework that leverages vision-language models. KAnoCLIP combines general knowledge from a Large Language Model (GPT-3.5) and fine-grained, image-specific knowledge from a Visual Question Answering system (Llama3) via Knowledge-Driven Prompt Learning (KnPL). KnPL uses a knowledge-driven (KD) loss function to create learnable anomaly prompts, removing the need for fixed text prompts and enhancing generalization. KAnoCLIP includes the CLIP visual encoder with V-V attention (CLIP-VV), Bi-Directional Cross-Attention for Multi-Level Cross-Modal Interaction (Bi-CMCI), and Conv-Adapter. These components preserve local visual semantics, improve local cross-modal fusion, and align global visual features with textual information, enhancing pixel-level anomaly detection. KAnoCLIP achieves state-of-the-art performance in ZSAD across 12 industrial and medical datasets, demonstrating superior generalization compared to existing methods. © 2025 IEEE.

Recent studies have achieved remarkable results for action recognition with human skeletal data by utilizing graph convolutional models. Traditional approaches typically aggregate local spatio-temporal information bottom-up to form a single spatio-temporal global understanding. However, this method may fail to achieve multi-location perception for fine-grained action capture and may struggle to model subactions due to their varying durations. To solve these challenges, we design a Distributed Spatio-temporal Perception (DSP) module that innovatively treats each joint as an independent perception unit, performing joint-wise distributed multi-location perception in both spatial and temporal dimensions. In addition, we introduce an Anchor Pose-driven Subaction Encoding (APSE) module, which enhances informative clues for subaction reasoning through identifying the correlations between anchor pose and subactions formed by integrating distributed spatio-temporal perception features. Based on the above work, we propose a Joint-wise Distributed Perception Graph Convolutional Network (JDP-GCN). The experiments on three widely used datasets: NTU RGB+D 60, NTU RGB+D 120, and NW-UCLA, demonstrate that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance. © 2025 IEEE.

A Social Distancing Framework Based on GPS and Bluetooth Empowered by Feature-based Machine Learning Algorithm

The current COVID-19 epidemic is responsible for causing a catastrophe on a global scale due to its risky spread. The community’s insecurity is growing as a result of a lack of appropriate remedial measures and immunization against the disease. In this case, social distancing is thought to be an effective barrier against the spread of the contagion virus as the risk of virus transmission can be reduced by avoiding direct contact with people. Thus, the goal of this research is to develop and improve an AI (Artificial Intelligence) system architecture for social distance monitoring. The framework could also use the GPS (Global Positioning System) to recognize human separation through cell phones. The transition learning framework is also applied to improve the consistency of the existing system. In this manner, the detection system uses a pre-trained technique that takes a Bluetooth dataset and location-sharing dataset to link to an additional level. In an attempt to approximate social distancing breaches among people, we used Bluetooth technology along with GPS distance estimation and set a threshold. To predict if the distance value exceeds the required social distance standard, a violation threshold is calculated and then it sends an alarm to every individual who is not maintaining social distancing. In response, the individual who breaks the social distance limit is also monitored using a detection approach. © 2025 Institute of Electronics Engineers of Korea. All rights reserved.

LLMaaS: Serving Large-Language Models on Trusted Serverless Computing Platforms

In recent years, the emergence of large-language models (LLMs) has profoundly transformed our production and lifestyle. These models have shown tremendous potential in fields, such as natural language processing, speech recognition, and recommendation systems, and are increasingly playing crucial roles in applications such as human-computer interaction and intelligent customer service. Efficient inference solutions for LLMs in data centers have been extensively researched, with a focus on meeting users' quality of service requirements. In this article, we focus on two additional requirements that responsible LLM inference should meet under QoS conditions: security throughout the model execution process and low maintenance requirements for the inference system. Therefore, we propose LLMaaS, a trusted model inference platform based on a serverless computing platform aimed at providing inference as a service for LLMs. First, we design a trusted serverless computing platform based on software guard extension (SGX), which includes distributed identity verification and SGX device plugins to ensure the security and trustworthiness of the inference process. Additionally, to reduce the maintenance requirements of the system, we enhance the SGX-based deep learning computing framework, including replacing PyTorch and using a greedy algorithm for graph partitioning. We conduct tests on four typical large models, and the experimental results demonstrate that, with minimal overhead and user code modifications, we can ensure the security of model execution. © 2020 IEEE.
