Over the last decade,there is a surge of attention in establishing ambient assisted living(AAL)solutions to assist individuals live *** a social and economic perspective,the demographic shift toward an elderly population has brought new challenges to today’s *** can offer a variety of solutions for increasing people’s quality of life,allowing them to live healthier and more independently for *** this paper,we have proposed a novel AAL solution using a hybrid bidirectional long-term and short-term memory networks(BiLSTM)and convolutional neural network(CNN)*** first pre-processed the signal data,then used timefrequency features such as signal energy,signal variance,signal frequency,empirical mode,and empirical mode *** convolutional neural network-bidirectional long-term and short-term memory(CNN-biLSTM)classifier with dimensional reduction isomap algorithm was then used to select ideal *** assessed the performance of our proposed system on the publicly accessible human gait database(HuGaDB)benchmark dataset and achieved an accuracy rates of 93.95 percent,*** reveal that hybrid method gives more accuracy than single classifier in AAL *** suggested system can assists persons with impairments,assisting carers and medical personnel.

The cloud network is rapidly growing due to a massive increase in interconnected devices and the emergence of different technologies such as the Internet of things, fog computing, and artificial intelligence. In response, cloud computing needs reliable dealings among the service providers, brokers, and consumers. The existing cloud monitoring frameworks such as Amazon Cloud Watch, Paraleap Azure Watch, and Rack Space Cloud Kick work under the control of service providers. They work fine;however, this may create dissatisfaction among customers over Service Level Agreement (SLA) violations. Customers’ dissatisfaction may drastically reduce the businesses of service providers. To cope with the earlier mentioned issue and get in line with cloud philosophy, Monitoring as a Service (MaaS), completely independent in nature, is needed for observing and regulating the cloud businesses. However, the existing MaaS frameworks do not address the comprehensive SLA for customer satisfaction and penalties management. This article proposes a reliable framework for monitoring the provider’s services by adopting third-party monitoring services with clearcut SLA and penalties management. Since this framework monitors SLA as a cloud monitoring service, it is named as SLA-MaaS. On violations, it penalizes those who are found in breach of terms and condition enlisted in SLA. Simulation results confirmed that the proposed framework adequately satisfies the customers (as well as service providers). This helps in developing a trustworthy relationship among cloud partners and increases customer attention and retention. © Mary Ann Liebert, Inc.

Underwater Biological Target Detection Algorithm and Research Based on YOLOv7 Algorithm

Underwater target detection is an important method for detecting marine organisms. However, due to the image occlusion of underwater targets, blurred water quality, poor lighting conditions, small targets, and complex backgrounds, the detection of underwater biological targets has posed significant challenges. In the intricate underwater environment, the conventional feature extraction method has a few drawbacks, including imprecise feature extraction, sluggish detection speed, and inadequate robustness. Consequently, an underwater target detection method based on the enhanced You Only Look Once 7 (YOLOv7) is proposed in this study. The network architecture is reconstructed, and the Deformable Convolutional Network (DCN) modules replace some 3×3 convolutional blocks in the ELAN structure to offset sampling points and reduce background interference. Skip connections and 1× 1 convolutional architecture are added to the DCN module to improve the model’s perception of image details. In addition, Contextual Transformer 3 (COT3) is also incorporated to improve visual performance. Finally, to improve the detection efficiency of small objects, the CIoU loss function is finally replaced by the Normalized Wasserstein Distance (NWD) algorithm. The mAP of DCCN-YOLOv7 on the URPC dataset is 80.4%, according to the experimental results, 2.8% higher than the YOLOv7 network model that is used as a baseline. Furthermore, in contrast to the original YOLOv7 algorithm, the detection speed and accuracy are higher, making it more appropriate for target recognition underwater. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers). The K-nearest neighbor (KNN) algorithm and its variant Local Mean K-nearest neighbor (LMKNN) have been widely used in the field of data mining due to their simplicity and intuition. However, these methods have limitations when dealing with unbalanced datasets and edge samples, such as sensitivity to the choice of nearest neighbor size and degradation of classification performance for outlier points. To address these issues, this paper proposes a pre-selected locally weighted mean K-nearest neighbor (PLWMKNN) algorithm, which aims to improve the performance of LMKNN through an advanced pre-selection mechanism and a weighted average method. PLWMKNN firstly pre-selects favorable classes as the nearest neighbors based on the distance weights, and then computes the weighted center vectors of each class to classify them by the minimum distance principle. Through experimental validation on four real datasets, PLWMKNN shows significant performance improvement over traditional KNN and LMKNN for unbalanced datasets. Our results demonstrate the effectiveness of the PLWMKNN algorithm in improving classification accuracy and robustness, especially when dealing with extremely unbalanced datasets. © 2024 IEEE.

Since the advent of automobiles and driver assistance technologies, traffic sign recognition has been of the utmost importance for Industry 4.0. In the driving system, good data pre-processing is critical. For such objectives, sophisticated transformations or fundamentally computational image processing approaches are out of the question. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) have been used to perform more object identification challenges, thus, improving most computer vision applications, both existing and new, because of their excellent recognition rate and rapid execution. This study introduces a method for recognizing traffic signs by utilizing a CNN-based model and the transfer learning concept. The TensorFlow library is used for training the underlying neural network model. The offered approach makes use of the German Traffic Sign Recognition Benchmark (GTSRB) and images from the Traffic Sign Images from Turkey (TSIT) databases. These datasets are dependable and vibrant, and they have been used to train many algorithms. Furthermore, after training the model, the proposed scheme acquired a testing accuracy is 99.44%. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

In this paper, we introduce an important yet relatively unexplored NLP task called Semantic Overlap Summarization (SOS), which entails generating a single summary from multiple alternative narratives which can convey the common information provided by those narratives. As no benchmark dataset is readily available for this task, we created one by collecting 2, 925 alternative narrative pairs from the web and then, went through the tedious process of manually creating 411 different reference summaries by engaging human annotators. As a way to evaluate this novel task, we first conducted a systematic study by borrowing the popular ROUGE metric from text-summarization literature and discovered that ROUGE is not suitable for our task. Subsequently, we conducted further human annotations to create 200 document-level and 1, 518 sentence-level ground-truth overlap labels. Our experiments show that the sentence-wise annotation technique with three overlap labels, i.e., {Absent (A), Partially-Present (PP), and Present (P)}, yields a higher correlation with human judgment and higher inter-rater agreement compared to the ROUGE metric. © 2022 Proceedings - International Conference on Computational Linguistics, COLING. Semantic Overlap Summarization (SOS) is a novel and relatively under-explored seq-to-seq task which entails summarizing common information from multiple alternate narratives. One of the major challenges for solving this task is the lack of existing datasets for supervised training. To address this challenge, we propose a novel data augmentation technique, which allows us to create large amount of synthetic data for training a seq-to-seq model that can perform the SOS task. Through extensive experiments using narratives from the news domain, we show that the models fine-tuned using the synthetic dataset provide significant performance improvements over the pre-trained vanilla summarization techniques and are close to the models fine-tuned on the golden training data;which essentially demonstrates the effectiveness of out proposed data augmentation technique for training seq-to-seq models on the SOS task. © 2022 Association for Computational Linguistics.

The autonomous number plate detection system plays a crucial role in modern transportation, law enforcement, and security infrastructure. Technical approaches using artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computer vision are actively researched to achieve ease of maintenance through real-time vehicle detection. The recent development has drastically improved the accuracy of object detection and recognition systems in deep neural networks. Using these techniques, vehicle number plates can easily be detected autonomously for vehicle identification and tracking. Here, we have used a custom-trained TensorFlow-based number plate detection method to autonomously detect vehicles using images captured by a smartphone, or surveillance camera. It showed an impressive mAP @ 0.5 of 95%, and demonstrated limitations in long-distance detection, leading us to designate it as the optimal vehicle detection model for accuracy. We designed and developed an autonomous number plate detection system for vehicle identification and tracking, which includes web-based, android-based, and embedded-based applications. In addition, we evaluated the proposed autonomous number plate detection system with real-time images and videos. The proposed system achieved real-time vehicle detection and tracking, boasting a commendable 90% detection accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

Personalized Federated Learning (PFL) has gained significant attention for its ability to handle heterogeneous data effectively. Parameter decoupling is a typical approach to PFL. It decouples the model into a feature extractor and a classifier head, where the feature extractor is trained collaboratively to learn a common representation and the classifier head is personalized for local data. Since local training only learns personalized feature information and ignores global information, the generalization ability of the feature extractor is limited. To improve the performance of the local model, a feasible approach is to make the local feature extractor more generalized. However, prior work requires the transmission of additional feature data beyond the transmission of model parameters, which leads to privacy leakage and higher communication overhead. To address these shortcomings, we propose a PFL algorithm with feature alignment via knowledge distillation, named PFAKD. PFAKD enhances the training of local feature extractors by explicitly aligning each sample’s local features with global features, providing more detailed guidance. Meanwhile, it avoids additional communication overhead and the risk of privacy leakage. We conduct extensive experiments in heterogeneous data scenarios. PFAKD outperforms other state-of-the-art methods by up to 4.35% in terms of model accuracy.
