Heterogeneous signcryption scheme from CLC to IBC for IIoT

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) involves the real-time gathering of information from physical devices and technologies for improved perception and management. To ensure information transmission security, an efficient and secure cryptography scheme is needed, especially for devices under resource constraints. In this paper, a heterogeneous signcryption (HSC) scheme is designed to meet security requirements in the IIoT environment. This construction employs a heterogeneous system, with the sender using certificateless cryptography (CLC) to effectively solve the key escrow problem in identity-based cryptography (IBC) and the certificate management problem in public key infrastructure (PKI). The receiver, on the other hand, uses IBC to settle the certificate management issue in PKI. The scheme supports formal security proof in the random oracle model (ROM). Furthermore, the detailed performance analysis demonstrates that the scheme has advantages in terms of energy consumption and computation overhead, making it suitable for the IIoT environment. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Neural-symbolic systems (NSSs), which are typically cyber-physical systems integrated with artificial intelligence modules, have received much attention in both academic and industrial fields. However, thorough verification (such as model checking) of such systems in general leads to prohibitively high costs due to the scale of the state space, and this makes it barely accomplishable within desired time-span. Consequently, light-weight verification techniques are introduced to deal with such cases, e.g., runtime verification (RV, for short). In this paper, we investigate an RV framework for NSSs against signal temporal logic (STL) properties. To guarantee that the on-line monitoring could be accomplished in time, we utilize Euler-prediction to sample the system under scrutiny at discrete time-steps. Our framework supports both qualitative and quantitative on-line monitoring of STL specifications, and thus it terminates whenever a property is satisfied and/or violated by a finite prefix of the trajectory, and it can also provide the bounds of the quantitative satisfaction/violation w.r.t. the remaining execution. Notably, for the so-called piece-wise linear NSSs against affine STL formulas, our approach is exact. On top of it, a prototype tool is implemented, and is experimentally evaluated. Visual Language Models (VLMs) have rapidly progressed with the recent success of large language models. However, there have been few attempts to incorporate efficient linear Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) architectures into VLMs. In this study, we introduce VisualRWKV, the first application of a linear RNN model to multimodal learning tasks, leveraging the pre-trained RWKV language model. We propose a data-dependent recurrence and sandwich prompts to enhance our modeling capabilities, along with a 2D image scanning mechanism to enrich the processing of visual sequences. Extensive experiments demonstrate that VisualRWKV achieves competitive performance compared to Transformer-based models like LLaVA-1.5 on various benchmarks. Compared to LLaVA-1.5, VisualRWKV has a speed advantage of 3.98 times and can save 54% of GPU memory when reaching an inference length of 24K tokens. Increasing attention has been garnered by LiDAR points and multi-view images fusion based on Transformer for supplementing another modality in 3D object detection. However, challenges persist for cross-modal fusion methods due to the heterogeneity of these two modalities, leading to issues such as inaccurate detection results encountered by Transformer-based methods. In this work, a one-way mid-level fusion based framework for 3D object detection named Modal Fusion Transformer (MFT) using LiDAR points and multi-view images is introduced. It comprises a Depth-Guided Generation(DGG) module, Position Encoding Generation (PEG) module and Cross Modal Fusion(CMF) module. Specifically, depth information from point cloud is utilized for both gathering the image depth map and initializing object queries in DGG. PEG unifies the form of position encoding from LiDAR features and multi-view image features. Depth and position information of object from images is aggregated to point clouds by CMF, which fully explores dual-modal information. Furthermore, a Modal Fusion Network with deformable attention named fast-MFT is introduced to reduce the relatively large computational cost associated with global attention. Our MFT and fast-MFT achieve competitive performance while maintaining a faster inference speed than other models. © 2025 IEEE.

There are 466 M deaf across the world according to World Health Organisation. They are deprived of their basic human right which is communicating with others. Many solutions have been developed to help hard-of-hearing people overcome communication barriers. The existing sign language recognition research focuses on sign languages other than Tunisian Sign Language. Consequently, a Tunisian Sign Language dataset, TunSL-D, was developed for this research. The dataset contains static images that are more complex and can generalize the classification tasks. The images represent the most used words and alphabets in Tunisian Sign language. This paper proposes a novel model TunSLR-25 that recognizes and classifies static Tunisian sign language. The model is first trained on the words data, achieving an accuracy of 95.49%, then trained on both words and alphabets, achieving an accuracy of 88%, with a low parameter number of 1,098,901. The TunSL-D has been trained on SLRNet-8 CNN, a 4-layer CNN model, pre-trained models Resnet50, Resnet101, and InceptionV3. The paper compares the performance of these CNN models and the proposed CNN model TunSLR-25. The system will be integrated into a web application designed to be accessible and user-friendly for this community. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

In the evolving landscape of supply chain management, the integration of radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology has marked a significant milestone. This development has led to the emergence of a new system in RFID-based supply chain management, which is intricately linked with the advances in the Internet of Things (IoT). RFID technology employs electromagnetic fields to identify and track tags on objects and revolutionizes the management and tracking of items in the supply chain. However, the public communication among RFID tags, RFID readers, and supply chain infrastructure predominantly escalates security and privacy challenges. Several authentication protocols have been proposed to overcome these challenges. However, the vulnerability of most proposed protocols to numerous security attacks renders them inefficient. Therefore, to address these crucial challenges, we devised an RFID-based authentication protocol for supply chain management systems. The incorporation of a physically unclonable function (PUF) into the protocol fortifies the system against physical tampering attacks. To validate the security and effectiveness of the devised protocol, both informal and formal security analysis are conducted. The formal security analysis is conducted using the widely used random oracle model. The informal security analysis reveals that the devised protocol provides enhanced and efficient security features. Furthermore, we perform a comparative analysis with related protocols, focusing on critical performance metrics like communication cost, computation cost, and overall security features. The results of the comparative analysis are promising, indicating a substantial 30.92% reduction in computational cost and a 23.98% reduction in communication cost in comparison to related protocols, thus highlighting the protocol’s superior performance and resource efficiency. © 2014 IEEE.

The 4D auto-labeling system, with its potential to enhance data annotation efficiency for 3D object detection, has garnered significant attention. However, its adoption has been hampered by the high costs associated with temporally annotated long-sequential training data and limited generalization capabilities across diverse scenarios. In this paper, we hypothesize that a multi-dataset approach can address these challenges and, accordingly, first introduce a Unified training pipeline for multi-dataset 4D Auto-Labeling, namely Uni4DAL. We recognize that this is a challenging task, primarily due to data-level variations and feature-level inconsistencies among various datasets. Motivated by this understanding, we initially propose a series of Data-Level Alignment (DLA) operations to mitigate potential discrepancies between diverse datasets and ensure synchronized training progress across samples from multiple datasets. Furthermore, to address feature-level inconsistencies, we introduce the Mixed Expert Models Voxel Feature Encoding (MoE-VFE) module, which aims to extract both domain-specific and domain-generalizable features. Additionally, we employ a Domain-Adaptive Hard Example Mining (DA-HEM) technique to leverage both data-level and feature-level consistencies, ensuring that the model pays enhanced attention to the challenging samples during multi-dataset training. Finally, comprehensive experiments demonstrate that Uni4DAL significantly improves performance on the nuScenes, Argoverse2, and Waymo datasets, and exhibits greater robustness with insufficient training data. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Structure learning of Bayesian networks using sparrow optimization algorithm

Bayesian networks are powerful analytical models in machine learning, used to represent probabilistic relationships among variables and create learning structures. These networks are made up of parameters that show conditional probabilities and a structure that shows how random variables interact with each other. The structure is shown by a directed acyclic graph. Despite the NP-hard nature of learning Bayesian network structures, there has been significant progress in improving the accuracy of approximation solutions. The main focus is on score-based search strategies, which make use of functions to evaluate network models and identify structures with high scores. This study is significantly focused on structure learning Bayesian networks using the Bayesian Dirichlet equivalent uniform scoring function and metaheuristic search strategies. To this end, this paper presents the sparrow optimization algorithm (SOA), a new metaheuristic algorithm derived from the foraging behavior of sparrows. SOA performs a concurrent optimization in the solution space by simultaneously performing a local and global search that leads to the discovery of near-optimal structures. The results from our experiments on several benchmark datasets show that SOA yields overall better performance than SA and greedy search algorithms. In particular, it is claimed that by applying the proposed approach of SOA, the convergence speed is significantly higher compared with the existing ones;F1 score is 0.35 and 0.05 for the Hamming distance with better results. Given these results, signed operators prove to be very efficient in SOA’s Bayesian network structure learning as a concept, especially for real-world use. © (2024), (Society of Sytematic Innovation). This research study analyzes six key factors in the education and teaching of IoT embedded direction: training objectives (which direction to teach), curriculum system (what to teach), teaching organization (how to teach), faculty team (who teaches), and teaching evaluation (how well the teaching is) under the current status of embedded teaching on the Internet of Things (IoT) engineering discipline. Guided by the latest National Occupational Technical Skill Standards for IoT engineering professionals and in accordance with the educational philosophy of Chengdu Neusoft University, here we propose a design for teaching system for IoT embedded talent courses, clarified the key elements and formulated new ideas for the current development of talents in this direction to assist improvement and perfection of related curriculum systems, and to promote the establishment and operation of practical and technological activity platforms.
