TH3D: A two-handed interaction framework for desktop virtual environment

This paper describes a two-handed interaction framework for desktop virtual environment, called TH3D. The design goal of this framework is to support the deviceindependent, task-centered, and fast development of twohanded applications on desktop computers. Existing research on two-handed interaction focuses mainly on specific interaction techniques and fails to achieve this goal. Our framework is characterized by its multi-layer design applied to two-handed interaction, including the normalization of raw input data, interaction primitive and task construction, and an efficient, built-in, two-handed interaction technique that integrates the benefits of both egocentric and exocentric interactions. With this framework, application developers can pay more attention to the analysis of interaction tasks and the design of an interaction technique without mainly considering a variety of devices and the mapping between interaction task and technique. The current implementation is tested with ordinary Spacemouse and 2D mouse, but the framework can easily be ported to other device combinations. © 2011 ACADEMY PUBLISHER.

To date, over 40 Automated Program Repair (APR) tools have been designed with varying bug-fixing strategies, which have been demonstrated to have complementary performance in terms of being effective for different bug classes. Intuitively, it should be feasible to improve the overall bug-fixing performance of APR via assembling existing tools. Unfortunately, simply invoking all available APR tools for a given bug can result in unacceptable costs on APR execution as well as on patch validation (via expensive testing). Therefore, while assembling existing tools is appealing, it requires an efficient strategy to reconcile the need to fix more bugs and the requirements for practicality. In light of this problem, we propose a Preference-based Ensemble Program Repair framework (P-EPR), which seeks to effectively rank APR tools for repairing different bugs. P-EPR is the first non-learning-based APR ensemble method that is novel in its exploitation of repair patterns as a major source of knowledge for ranking APR tools and its reliance on a dynamic update strategy that enables it to immediately exploit and benefit from newly derived repair results. Experimental results show that P-EPR outperforms existing strategies significantly both in flexibility and effectiveness. © 2024 IEEE Computer Society. All rights reserved.

Audio-visual feedback incorporated into pronunciation teaching tools plays a significant role for L2 perception and production skills improvement. Nonetheless, its effect on or correlation with cognitive styles of language learners has not yet been investigated. The present study reports an observable nonuniform distribution of progress achieved by learners with different learning styles. The maximum impact of this type of feedback was defined only for learners with strong joint visual and audial perception, while other types of learners did not show immediate positive changes during prosody training. The experiment was designed to improve understanding on the ways to more effectively tailor feedback and on the estimation of other, nonprosodic, aspects of language acquisition like new words or communicative units that can benefit from pronunciation exercises. © 2019 IEEE.

To research the real time performance of Danmaku comments in sentiment classification, three clustering algorithms were used to divide comments into periods based on their time of occurrence. Research on these periods found some features of Danmaku comments: The outbreak of comments is of a periodical property;In the same period the comments have the same sentimental polarity. Based on above studies, a modified Bayesian algorithm based on period division is proposed. The algorithm uses the consistency of polarity in the same period to correct the Bayes model when processing sentiment classification. Experiments show that the new algorithm is effective and especially suitable for the Danmaku in high consistency of polarity. © 2021 IEEE.

The paper investigates EFL prosody teaching and learning obstacles in monolingual societies alongside the main limitations for efficient deployment of specific prosody training tools based on audiovisual feedback. Prosody teaching and learning environment StudyIntonation containing the mobile application (MA) and the courseware development kit (CDK) is examined from teacher perspective. In StudyIntonation approach teachers are supposed to be co-authors of learning content and can contribute to new courses development. StudyIntonation approach puts together the advances of pitch visualization technology with Android mobile application development to offer a handy open-source prosody teaching, learning and research platform. It is shown, that new courses may be launched within a very short period provided native designed or spontaneous speech records are available. © 2018, International Speech Communications Association. Some programming languages, especially dynamic programming languages, offer suitable mechanisms for the construction of internal domain-specific languages (DSL). Internal DSLs inherit the facilities of their host language such as the availability of libraries, frameworks, tool support, and other DSLs. When developing an internal DSL, there are two challenges. First, to cope with the host language's syntactic and semantic restrictions. Careful and thoughtful extensions and modifications of the host language are crucial to overcome these restrictions without reverting to poor language design. Second, to support several design principles that are genuine for a DSL. Although there is an extensive body of knowledge about DSL design principles and desirable quality properties, it remains difficult to apply them, or to reason about whether a particular DSL exhibits specific desirable principles. Our objective is to put the two perspectives together. We research the most important design principles of a DSL and show how different patterns can be used to support these principles. This allows us to produce an extensive pattern catalog which is the foundation of principled approach for designing internal DSLs. The patterns can be used to assess the design quality of a DSL and structure its implementation. In particular, we show a complex DSL example illustrating each principle and the corresponding patterns. While we stick to Ruby for the explanation and application of the patterns, we also name known uses in Python, Scala, and Smalltalk. Patterns are explained with their context, problem, forces, solution, and consequences. We also explain the patterns with the classical structure of intent, motivation, forces, implementation and their consequences. Finally we reflect upon the pattern utilization by discussing their strengths and weaknesses.

Escape analysis is widely used to determine the scope of variables, and is an effective way to optimize memory usage. However, the escape analysis algorithm can hardly reach 100% accurate, mistakes of which can lead to a waste of heap memory. It is challenging to ensure the correctness of programs for memory *** this paper, we propose an escape analysis optimization approach for Go programming language (Golang), aiming to save heap memory usage of programs. First, we compile the source code to capture information of escaped variables. Then, we change the code so that some of these variables can bypass Golang's escape analysis mechanism, thereby saving heap memory usage and reducing the pressure of memory garbage collection. Next, we present a verification method to validate the correctness of programs, and evaluate the effect of memory optimization. We implement the approach to an automatic tool and make it open-source 1 . For evaluation, we apply our approach to 10 open-source projects. For the optimized Golang code, the heap allocation is reduced by 8.88% in average, and the heap usage is reduced by 8.78% in average. Time consumption is reduced by 9.48% in average, while the cumulative time of GC pause is reduced by 5.64% in average. We also apply our approach to 16 industrial projects in Bytedance Technology. Our approach successfully finds 452 optimized cases which are confirmed by developers.

This paper presents the T02 team’s system for the Singing Voice Conversion Challenge 2023 (SVCC2023). Our system entails a VITS-based SVC model, incorporating three modules: a feature extractor, a voice converter, and a postprocessor. Specifically, the feature extractor provides F0 contours and extracts speaker-independent linguistic content from the input singing voice by leveraging a HuBERT model. The voice converter is employed to recompose the speaker timbre, F0, and linguistic content to generate the waveform of the target speaker. Besides, to further improve the audio quality, a fine-tuned DSPGAN vocoder is introduced to resynthesise the waveform. Given the limited target speaker data, we utilize a two-stage training strategy to adapt the base model to the target speaker. During model adaptation, several tricks, such as data augmentation and joint training with auxiliary singer data, are involved. Official challenge results show that our system achieves superior performance, especially in the cross-domain task, ranking 1st and 2nd in naturalness and similarity, respectively. Further ablation justifies the effectiveness of our system design.
