The saliency methods are widely used for generating heatmaps that emphasize the important portions of an input image for deep networks on a specific classification task. Interpretability is crucial for deploying deep neural networks in real-world applications. However, the heatmaps produced by current visual explainable methods may contain or visualize particulars differently. To analyze and compare the visualization of different methods, such as Gradient-based, Activation-based, Perturbation-based, and Region-based methods, we empirically evaluated them on the acute lymphoblastic leukemia (cancer cell) classification task using state-of-the-art convolutional neural networks. We also visualized the essential pathological features (salient parts) that are the reasons for the classification results on the classification of normal versus malignant cell (CNMC) dataset.

Evolutionary reinforcement learning algorithms (ERLs), which combine evolutionary algorithms (EAs) with reinforcement learning (RL), have demonstrated significant success in enhancing RL performance. However, most ERLs rely heavily on Gaussian mutation operators to generate new individuals. When the standard deviation is too large or small, this approach will result in the production of poor or highly similar offspring. Such outcomes can be detrimental to the learning process of the RL agent, as too many poor or similar experiences are generated by these individuals. In order to alleviate these issues, this paper proposes an Adaptive Evolutionary Reinforcement Learning (AERL) method that adaptively adjusts both the standard deviation and the evaluation process. By tracking the performance of new individuals, AERL maintains the mutation strength within a suitable range without the need for additional gradient computations. Moreover, the proposed AERL approach early terminates unnecessary evaluations and discards experiences arising from poor individuals, thereby resulting in enhanced learning efficiency. Empirical assessments conducted on a variety of continuous control problems demonstrate the effectiveness of the AERL method.

The significant growth of Wind Power (WP) has significant challenges due to the inconsistency and uncertainty of Wind Power Generation (WPG) to ensure the power system. Solar energy and WP calculation are great ways to overcome the problem. Mainly voltage and frequency fluctuations and harmonics have a high impact on the power generation and distribution system;in any high case, the power quality of grid systems is reduced. This can be primarily solved with proper design, advanced rapid response control facilities and optimization of power systems. A new type of Multi-term Wind Energy (WE) with an IEEE 30 bus forecasting system based on digital weather forecasting and error modification methods is presented. From the Evolutionary Energy- Preserve Rate Clustering (EEPRC) Technique-based technique for the evaluates the probability ratio in Solar and wind error energy prediction, the error assessment model is proposed, which has the advantage of estimating from real wind farms and statistical Weather Forecast (WF) data and has proven to be a nominal method for improving the predictive accuracy of Multi-term WPG. The primary step of the Energy-Preserve Rate Clustering (EPRC) method is to calculate the uncertainty of real-time data with the predicted value. The computed values are helpful for the increases in Solar WPG production. The proposed wind forecasting system is utilized in the Coastal area-based energy generation. Also, it has been demonstrated that wind speed and WPG with its probability ratio have been evaluated with the EEPRC-based forecasting method, especially for its powerful predictive capability for the complex properties of the controller function. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Personalized Federated Learning with Multiple Classifier Aggregation

Personalized federated learning (PFL) has garnered attention due to its capability to address statistical heterogeneity among clients. Typically, prevailing PFL methods aggregate a single global model for personalization, which may be inadequate for clients with diverse data distributions. Furthermore, in the local update, each private dataset is used to optimize the model independently, which increases the risk of overfitting the current data distribution and losing previously acquired knowledge, resulting in knowledge forgetting. In this study, personalized federated learning with multiple classifier aggregation is proposed. The method involves splitting the client model into its head and base, then optimizing them respectively using an alternating optimization strategy that first optimizes the head and then the base. Initially, to address the suboptimal model problem, the proposed approach aggregates multiple classifiers using data distribution and employs knowledge distillation to impart positive and negative classifier knowledge for learning the most suitable personalized model head. Additionally, to mitigate knowledge forgetting, a learnable personalization layer is introduced, and hidden loss is utilized to learn the knowledge of the global base and prevent overfitting of the model base. Empirical results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves competitive performance across various benchmarks, outperforming the majority of state-of-the-art PFL algorithms. Few-shot semantic segmentation (FSS) endeavors to segment unseen classes with only a few labeled samples. Current FSS methods are commonly built on the assumption that their training and application scenarios share similar domains, and their performances degrade significantly while applied to a distinct domain. To this end, we propose to leverage the cutting-edge foundation model, the segment Anything Model (SAM), for generalization enhancement. The SAM however performs unsatisfactorily on domains that are distinct from its training data, which primarily comprise natural scene images, and it does not support automatic segmentation of specific semantics due to its interactive prompting mechanism. In our work, we introduce APSeg, a novel auto-prompt network for cross-domain few-shot semantic segmentation (CD-FSS), which is designed to be auto-prompted for guiding cross-domain segmentation. Specifically, we propose a Dual Prototype Anchor Transformation (DPAT) module that fuses pseudo query prototypes extracted based on cycle-consistency with support prototypes, allowing features to be transformed into a more stable domain-agnostic space. Additionally, a Meta Prompt (MPG) module is introduced to automatically generate prompt embeddings, eliminating the need for manual visual prompts. We build an efficient model which can be applied directly to target domains without fine-tuning. Extensive experiments on four cross-domain datasets show that our model outperforms the state-of-the-art CD-FSS method by 5.24% and 3.10% in average accuracy on 1-shot and 5-shot settings, respectively.

Recently, the application of transfer learning within dynamic multiobjective evolutionary algorithms (DMOEAs) has shown significant potential to solve dynamic multiobjective optimization problems (DMOPs). This approach utilizes the transfer learning technique which reuses information from previous environments to accelerate the search process in the new environment. However, the risk of negative transfer can lead to an erroneous search direction and inefficient use of computational resources. To address this issue, this paper proposes a novel multistage transfer learning DMOEA, named MSTL. The algorithm is designed to enhance the convergence and diversity of the population through the combination of the pre-transfer learning stage and the transfer learning and validation stage when environmental changes occur. In the pre-transfer learning stage, a suitable target domain, source domain, and validation classifier sample sets are generated guided by historical information. In the transfer learning and validation stage, the TrAdaboost technique to transfer knowledge from the target to the source domain, with the results verified by two validation classifiers to mitigate negative transfer. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed algorithm outperforms four competing algorithms in terms of diversity and convergence on a widely recognized benchmark suite.

CTR prediction plays an important role in increasing company revenue and user experience, and many efforts start with historical behavior to uncover user interest. There are two main problems with previous works: (1) When most previous works mined interests from users’ historical behaviors, they only focus on implicit or explicit interests. (2) When most previous works mined user interests through the relationship between target users and similar users, the representation of target users was not rich and accurate enough, resulting in less accurate item recommendations. Therefore the Deep User and Item Inter-Matching Network (DUIIN) is proposed in this paper to solve the above problems. First, we design Item-to-Item Network (IIN), using two different sub-networks Evolving Interest Network (EIN) and Feature Interaction Network (FIN) to mine the hidden interests and explicit interests shown by users’ historical behaviors, respectively. Then the User-to-User Network (UUN) is designed to mine user interests through the relationship between target users and similar users after representing the target users more accurately and richly. Network programming is the act of writing computer codes for communications between programs or processes in different computers across networks. It is crucial for applications and services using networks, including e-commerce, gaming, and social media. However, university courses of educating it are very limited. As a result, it has become important to develop and offer IT tools to support self-studies of network programming by novices. In this paper, we present a study of two types of introductory exercise problems, namely, Grammar-concept Understanding Problem (GUP) and Comment Insertion Problem (CIP), for self-studies of five basic network protocols of TCP/IP, ARP, SMTP, POP3, and SSH with Python. A GUP instance requests to answer the keyword such as a library function in the given source code that corresponds to the grammar concept described in the question. A CIP instance requests to insert the comment at each blank of the code. String matching is adopted to mark any answer at the browser-based answer interface. Through solving them, it is expected to understand the meaning of important words and the code structure for network programming. As preliminary evaluations, we generated six GUP and CIP instances respectively, and assigned them to 10 students in Okayama University, Japan. The results confirmed that the proposal is proper for novices to learn network programming with Python. © 2023 ACM.

The fast-paced growth of artificial intelligence applications provides unparalleled opportunities to improve the efficiency of various *** as the transportation sector faces many obstacles following the implementation and integration of different vehicular and environmental aspects *** congestion is among the major issues in this regard which demands serious attention due to the rapid growth in the number of vehicles on the *** address this overwhelming problem,in this article,a cloudbased intelligent road traffic congestion prediction model is proposed that is empowered with a hybrid Neuro-Fuzzy *** aim of the study is to reduce the delay in the queues,the vehicles experience at different road junctions across the *** proposed model also intended to help the automated traffic control systems by minimizing the congestion particularly in a smart city environment where observational data is obtained from various implanted Internet of Things(IoT)sensors across the *** due preprocessing over the cloud server,the proposed approach makes use of this data by incorporating the neuro-fuzzy ***,it possesses a high level of accuracy by means of intelligent decision making with minimum error *** results reveal the accuracy of the proposed model as 98.72%during the validation phase in contrast to the highest accuracies achieved by state-of-the-art techniques in the literature such as 90.6%,95.84%,97.56%and 98.03%,*** far as the training phase analysis is concerned,the proposed scheme exhibits 99.214% accuracy. The proposed prediction modelis a potential contribution towards smart cities environment.
