In the current era of chatbots, this research delves into the advancements in AI chatbots, drawing on artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP) techniques to mimic human-like conversations. A particular focus is given to the potential of chatbots in facilitating multitasking dialogues, offering emotional support, and addressing complex subject matter, all the while respecting user privacy and trust. The implemented chatbot model is trained on a neural network, using Keras and TensorFlow libraries. This model's performance indicates a considerable dependence on the dataset's size, with larger datasets leading to better outcomes by providing more extensive language usage and context examples. Additionally, we also analyze the effect of varying architectures and hyperparameters on chatbot performance. The significance of localizing chatbots to adapt to different languages and cultures is also highlighted. While promising, the study identifies areas of improvement, suggesting future research directions in enhancing language capture techniques, expanding training datasets, and integrating emotional intelligence within chatbot systems. © 2023 IEEE.

The Internet of Things (IoT) has led to a surge in smart devices, generating vast volumes of data. Cloud computing offers scalability but does not suffice for many real-time and privacy-sensitive IoT applications. This limitation has prompted a blend of both edge and cloud resources, creating the need for seamless integration, known as the “compute continuum“. Testing applications and resource management techniques within this continuum is vital but can be very complex. Simulation and emulation are preferred methods, with emulation providing more accurate representations of real-world environments. In this paper, we introduce iContinuum, a novel emulation toolkit facilitating an intent-based platform for edge-to-cloud testing and experimentation. Leveraging software-Defined Networking (SDN) and containerization, iContinuum enables experimentation and performance evaluation while aligning application requirements with actual performance. We present our detailed architecture, implementation, and evaluation of iContinuum, showcasing how our proposed toolkit bridges the gap between simulation and real-world deployment within compute continuum environments, and further demonstrate the effectiveness of Intent-Based Scheduling through a specific use case.

The emergence of digital opera has enriched the stage performance of Chinese opera and expanded its dissemination means. However, the modern spread of traditional Chinese opera still faces hindrances. Digital opera performances require the generation of virtual scenes of the stages and characters. However, traditional virtual scene generation requires workers to build 3D models using modeling software and incorporate them into the performance scene. This article proposes a semantic-based generation method for Chinese opera performance scenes. First, we analyze the scene description scripts to understand the elements in Chinese opera virtual scenes. The prior probability is subsequently used to learn the model placement rules in the opera scene model. A digital scene suitable for Chinese opera performance is then generated. The final results show that the method can generate natural and receptive opera digital performance scenes. This article's research ideas and achievements are conducive to the promotion of development of Chinese digital opera technology. They possess substantial significance to the inheritance and development of traditional Chinese opera art. © 2022 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

A new parallel file system and multi-core processor-based dynamic multimedia encryption method is presented in this study. Multimedia encryption efficiency and security were the main goals, addressing massive data sets and high-speed processing. We created a dynamic encryption algorithm for multimedia content, supported by a strong parallel file system and tuned for multi-core processing. Multiple tests showed significant improvements in encryption and decryption times, retaining short durations for real-time applications. After encryption, the system maintained multimedia content quality and accuracy with data integrity rates nearing 100%. Balanced CPU utilization showed efficient resource use and processor load management. The system's excellent throughput efficiency showed its capacity to process enormous amounts of data. These results indicate that parallel file systems and multi-core CPUs may solve multimedia encryption problems. Adaptable and scalable, the system supports many multimedia formats and sizes. This paper proposes a multimedia encryption system that improves performance data security and integrity, paving the way for safe multimedia processing advances. © 2024 IEEE.

Information Accuracy of Migration and Imitation Influences the Evolution of Cooperation in Spatial Prisoner's Dilemma

Migration is ubiquitous in both biological worlds and human societies for seeking more suitable environments or greater benefits. It may provide an effective mechanism to promote cooperation in the context of spatial prisoner’s dilemma, where agents can either update strategies or adjust positions after participating in a game. On the one hand, agent' behavior depends on the tendency to update strategy or change position. On the other hand, agent' decision is also influenced by the information it receives about the surroundings. In this work, we propose a co-evolutionary model assuming agents have different tendencies for migration and imitation, and are with different accuracy on the information of imitation and of migration. The simulation results show that the higher accuracy of the information on imitation and migration contributes to a higher cooperation level. In particular, the imitation-oriented mode is more conducive to cooperation when the imitation information accuracy is high. Likewise, the migration-oriented mode is more conducive to cooperation with higher accuracy of the migration information. When imitation and migration information accuracies are both high, cooperation is effectively maintained in two different ways: the imitation-dominant pattern and the migration-dominant pattern, while the scenario in which the imitation tendency is close to the migration tendency has an inhibitory effect on cooperation. © 2023, The Authors. Adjacent Channel Interference (ACI) presents a significant concern for densely deployed Wi-Fi networks in the $\mathbf{6 G H z}$ spectrum. Coexisting Wi-Fi and 5G may be exposed to ACI due to the limitations in the devices’ receiver filtering capabilities or nearby user devices’ high transmit power. Since users of 5G and Wi-Fi networks operate in close proximity in frequency, space, and time, harmful ACI between 5 G and $\mathrm{Wi}-\mathrm{Fi}$ is unavoidable. This study investigates interference-limits aware approaches for enhancing throughput in distributed 5G NR-U-enabled femtocells and interference mitigation in Wi-Fi6E/7 network. Users act rationally and non-cooperatively to optimize their own utility. We have developed a non-cooperative Stackelberg game model to maximize throughput for 5G and mitigate ACI in $\mathrm{Wi-Fi}$ user devices. Our analysis explores the conditions necessary for the existence of a Stackelberg equilibrium within this context. The effectiveness of the proposed model is further demonstrated through simulation results.

Nowadays computing power and the bandwidth of communication channels of automated power supply control systems are widely used. Ireeational use of this leads to an overload of the processing center that included emergency information flows while simultaneously receiving them from several control units at once. To solve this problem, methods and algorithms for distributing information processing centers’s load can be used. In this paper a mathematical model of the query processing process has been developed by using a cache-aware algorithm for balancing the information processing centers’s load in distributed computing systems. The modified algorithm for consistent hashing are proposed, which provided better uniformity of the load of information processing centers, as well as prevent possible overloads.

Navigating Fairness: Practitioners’ Understanding, Challenges, and Strategies in AI/ML Development

The rise in the use of AI/ML applications across industries has sparked more discussions about the fairness of AI/ML in recent times. While prior research on the fairness of AI/ML exists, there is a lack of empirical studies focused on understanding the perspectives and experiences of AI practitioners in developing a fair AI/ML system. Understanding AI practitioners’ perspectives and experiences on the fairness of AI/ML systems is important because they are directly involved in its development and deployment and their insights can offer valuable real-world perspectives on the challenges associated with ensuring fairness in AI/ML systems. We conducted semi-structured interviews with 22 AI practitioners to investigate their understanding of what a ‘fair AI/ML’ is, the challenges they face in developing a fair AI/ML system, the consequences of developing an unfair AI/ML system, and the strategies they employ to ensure AI/ML system fairness. We developed a framework showcasing the relationship between AI practitioners’ understanding of ‘fair AI/ML’ system and (i) their challenges in its development, (ii) the consequences of developing an unfair AI/ML system, and (iii) strategies used to ensure AI/ML system fairness. By exploring AI practitioners’ perspectives and experiences, this study provides actionable insights to enhance AI/ML fairness, which may promote fairer systems, reduce bias, and foster public trust in AI technologies. Additionally, we also identify areas for further investigation and offer recommendations to aid AI practitioners and AI companies in navigating fairness. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

The need for mechanical model simulation platforms is growing as a result of the ongoing advancements in digital technology and the mechanical manufacturing sector. The application scope and efficacy of simulation platforms are severely limited by the issue of sluggish rendering performance, which frequently arises when obtaining high-quality rendering. When drawing high demand mechanical models, a lot of processing power is frequently needed, which makes real-time rendering speed unsatisfactory for practical purposes. In order to achieve real-time rendering and simulation of 3D robots, this experiment built and implemented a WebGL-based 3D simulation platform. Additionally, the simulation platform can be optimized by increasing frame rate and rendering speed without sacrificing rendering effect by building a mixed bounding box. © The Author(s) 2025.
