The security of computer networks is increasingly difficult to maintain due to the rising complexity and frequency of cyber-attacks. Important tools for finding and neutralizing these dangers are intrusion detection systems. This study sets out to do a thorough examination and comparison of the efficacy of several machine learning algorithms for use in intrusion detection. This research study evaluates the efficacy of several machine learning algorithms in correctly categorizing instances of network traffic as normal or invasive via extensive experiments performed on representative datasets. Algorithms like random forests, decision trees, SVMs, DL models and NNs are all being tested and rated. Effectiveness is measured and compared using a variety of performance indicators including accuracy, recall, precision, false positive rate, and F1-score. The results of this study emphasize the potential of deep learning models and Random Forests for use in intrusion detection and add to the body of knowledge around machine learning methods for this task. Professionals in the field of network security might use the results to their advantage when building intrusion detection systems. Future research areas are also mentioned, which will hopefully lead to even greater improvements in the field and safer, more reliable intrusion detection systems. © 2023 IEEE.

In recent years, remote work has become a more popular option for companies across various industries. While remote work provides numerous benefits, such as flexibility and increased work-life balance, it also presents unique challenges that can hinder team collaboration, productivity, and overall success. In order to overcome these obstacles, it is essential to adopt effective organizational patterns that can help build high-performing remote teams. Building a high-performing remote team requires a set of strategies with some key focus points to be kept in mind such as communication, trust, goals, collaboration, and performance. For all of these, there have been an extensive research and publication of observed patterns to which we have also contributed with a new set of these four patterns: Use Common Language, Discuss Publicly, Lights, Camera, Action!, and Praise in Public, Correct in Private.

The most valuable resource on the planet is no longer oil,but *** transmission of this data securely over the internet is another challenge that comes with its ever-increasing *** order to transmit sensitive information securely,researchers are combining robust cryptography and steganographic *** objective of this research is to introduce a more secure method of video steganography by using Deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA)for embedding encrypted data and an intelligent frame selection algorithm to improve video *** the previous approach,DNA was used only for frame *** this DNA is compromised,then our frames with the hidden and unencrypted data will be *** the frame selected in this way were random frames,and no consideration was made to the contents of *** data in this way introduces visible artifacts in *** the proposed approach rather than using DNA for frame selection we have created a fakeDNA out of our data and then embedded it in a video file on intelligently selected frames called the complex *** chaotic maps and linear congruential generators,a unique pixel set is selected each time only from the identified complex frames,and encrypted data is embedded in these random *** results demonstrate that the proposed technique shows minimum degradation of the stenographic video hence reducing the very first chances of visual ***,the selection of complex frames for embedding and creation of a fake DNA as proposed in this research have higher peak signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR)and reduced mean squared error(MSE)values that indicate improved *** proposed methodology has been implemented in Matlab.

Mobile edge computing (MEC) has been proposed as a promising paradigm to provide mobile devices with both satisfactory computing capacity and task latency. One key issue in MEC is computation offloading (CompOff), which has attracted numerous research interests. Most existing CompOff approaches are developed based on iterative programming (IterProg), that calculates a CompOff action based on system dynamics each time mobile tasks arrive. Due to the heavy dependency of IterProg on reliable system dynamics, as well as the online computational burden, recent years have seen a popular trend to develop CompOff approaches based on deep reinforcement learning (DRL), which could generate real-time model-free CompOff actions. However, due to the intrinsic poor generalization of DRL, it is hard to directly apply DRL-based policies in new MEC environments, and long-time fine-tuning is often required. To address the challenge, this paper proposes a fast transferable CompOff framework (named TransOff), based on the idea of embedded reinforcement learning. Specifically, TransOff is composed of multiple primitive CompOff policies (pCOPs) and a multiplicative composition function (MCF). The pCOPs and MCF are pre-trained in a diverse variety of MEC environments. When encountering new MEC environments, pCOPs are kept fixed to prevent catastrophic forgetting of pre-trained CompOff skills, while only MCF is fine-tuned to produce new compositions of pCOPs to achieve fast transfer. We conduct extensive experiments via both numerical simulation and real testbed, indicating the fast transfer ability of TransOff compared to the state-of-the-art DRL-based and meta learning-based CompOff approaches.

Schelling games use a game-theoretic approach to study the phenomenon of residential segregation. We consider four global measures of diversity, and prove asymptotically tight or almost tight bounds on the price of anarchy with respect to these measures on both general graphs and common specific graphs. In addition we did simulations of our swap games.

System logs contain valuable information and they have emerged as one of the most crucial data sources for system monitoring aimed at enhancing service quality. IT support teams and system administrators are in dire need of an intelligent log-based QA system to help them quickly identify, diagnose, and resolve issues. In this paper, we propose a novel method for constructing log-based question-answering (QA) data using large language models, addressing challenges associated with limited dataset size and diversity in existing log-based QA systems. Our pipeline consists of three steps: generating questions, answering log questions, and refining question-answer pairs. The purpose of the generating questions is to create a diverse set of log-related queries that cover a wide range of potential issues. The second step, answering log questions, aims to extract relevant information from the logs to address the generated questions. This step ensures accurate and context-aware responses. Refining question-answer pairs is intended to improve the overall quality and consistency of the generated log-based QA data. We present a case study using ChatGPT to generate a new dataset, LogQuAD, containing over 28,000 question-answer pairs derived from more than 31,000 raw logs, representing a significant increase compared to existing datasets like LogQA. In our experimental setting, we sample half of the data as the training set and use memory-effect fine-tuning to fine-tune the model, named Gloss. Experimental results show that our method can generate high-quality log-based QA data, leading to improved performance of log-based QA models. Notably, our fine-tuned 7B model outperforms the LLaMA-65B model. This approach can potentially save valuable time for IT support teams and system administrators, enabling proactive problem resolution and optimal system performance.

GaN HEMTs on circuit boards used for power electronics applications suffer from the generation of excessive heat that may eventually destroy them. Both immersion and conduction (using a cold plate) methods for cooling have been evaluated in the past. The objective of this work is to design and build a cold plate solution to this thermal problem by means of forced convection through optimised cooling channels integrated into a cold plate. Considering the complex and convoluted shapes these fluid-flow channels take within enclosures that rest on the heat dissipating surface of the GaN chip, additive manufacturing based on powder bed fusion processing of a thermally conductive metal is a part of the solution. Finite volume (FV) simulations based on ANSYS Fluent module are used for evaluating thermal fields within the heat exchanger block resting on the GaN HEMTs, taken as the plate heat source. Initial impressions from the FV results indicate the design alterations evaluated to be suitable for better thermal management of GaN HEMTs. Physical prototyping of the cooling block was also successful based on additive consolidation of metallic powders by selective laser melting.

PROTOTYPE CONTRASTIVE CONSISTENCY LEARNING FOR SEMI-SUPERVISED MEDICAL IMAGE SEGMENTATION

Medical image segmentation is a crucial task in medical image analysis, but it can be very challenging especially when there are less labeled data but with large unlabeled data. Contrastive learning has proven to be effective for medical image segmentation in semi-supervised learning by constructing contrastive samples from partial pixels. However, although previous contrastive learning methods can mine semantic information from partial pixels within images, they ignore the whole context information of unlabeled images, which is very important to precise segmentation. In order to solve this problem, we propose a novel prototype contrastive learning method called Prototype Contrastive Consistency Segmentation (PCCS) for semi-supervised medical image segmentation. The core idea is to enforce the prototypes of the same semantic class to be closer and push the prototypes in different semantic classes far away from each other. Specifically, we construct a signed distance map and an uncertainty map from unlabeled images. The signed distance map is used to construct prototypes for contrastive learning, and then we estimate the prototype uncertainty from the uncertainty map as tradeoff among prototypes. In order to obtain better prototypes, based on the student-teacher architecture, a new mechanism named prototype updating prototype is designed to assist in updating the prototypes for contrastive learning. In addition, we propose an uncertainty-consistency loss to mine more reliable information from unlabeled data. Extensive experiments on medical image segmentation demonstrate that PCCS achieves better segmentation performance than the state-of-the-art methods.
