Trust evaluation and trust establishment play crucial roles in the management of trust within a multi-agent system. When it comes to collaboration systems, trust becomes directly linked to the specific roles performed by agents. The Role-Based Collaboration (RBC) methodology serves as a framework for assigning roles that facilitate agent collaboration. Within this context, the behavior of an agent with respect to a role is referred to as a process role. This research paper introduces a role engine that incorporates a trust establishment algorithm aimed at identifying optimal and reliable process roles. In our study, we define trust as a continuous value ranging from 0 to 1. To optimize trustworthy process roles, we have developed a consensus-based Gaussian Process Factor Graph (GPFG) tool. Our simulations and experiments validate the feasibility and efficiency of our proposed approach with autonomous robots in unsignalized intersections and narrow hallways.

This paper investigates the (Formula presented.) control problem for discrete-time uncertain slow sampling Markov jump systems under the event-triggered scheme. Discrete-time Markov jumps are controlled using an event-triggered scheme. An event-based strategy is addressed to reduce the data communication and improve the control efficiency. By applying a switched Lyapunov functional and linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), we derive sufficient conditions for (Formula presented.) -dissipativity of the resulting system. An event-triggered scheme is introduced into LMIs approaches in order to solve the dissipative control problem. The control strategy is implemented by combining the disturbance output with state feedback control law in order to achieve asymptotically stable closed-loop systems. Convex combination approach is utilized to handle slow sampling input, while parameter uncertainty and external disturbances are both included, and the robustness (Formula presented.) performance is analyzed. The developed methods are illustrated with two examples that illustrate their flexibility and applicability. © 2025 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

This paper introduces a novel edge device architecture designed to optimize solar energy management systems. It integrates cutting-edge functionalities such as generation prediction, maintenance alerts, and anomaly detection into a unified framework. Through the utilization of edge computing, the system enables real-time analysis and decision-making at the network’s edge. Leveraging machine learning algorithms and predictive models, these edge devices provide highly accurate energy generation forecasts, facilitating efficient energy utilization and strategic planning. Additionally, the architecture incorporates anomaly detection techniques to proactively identify deviations from normal operation, minimizing downtime and enabling timely maintenance interventions. This paper presents a processed phytoplankton dataset from Lake Zerendi and other Kokshetau Upland lakes, Kazakhstan. The study aimed to develop an automated method for controlling the distribution of phytoplankton in fresh open water using a gradient descent approach with the search for a starting point for research. The paper also presents the reconstructed biomass indicators for changes in water temperature, with model calibration based on results from 5 years of surface sampling. A special feature of the proposed computer data processing is the cubic spline interpolation, which allows a higher calculation accuracy. This method reduces the sample size required, providing a comprehensive picture of the condition of the infrastructure and allowing for a more efficient response to emerging ecosystem issues. © 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

We study a class of prediction problems in which relatively few observations have associated responses, but all observations include both standard covariates as well as additional "helper" covariates. While the end goal is to make high-quality predictions using only the standard covariates, helper covariates can be exploited during training to improve prediction. Helper covariates arise in many applications, including forecasting in time series;incorporation of biased or mis-calibrated predictions from foundation models;and sharing information in transfer learning. We propose "prediction aided by surrogate training" (PAST), a class of methods that exploit labeled data to construct a response estimator based on both the standard and helper covariates;and then use the full dataset with pseudo-responses to train a predictor based only on standard covariates. We establish guarantees on the prediction error of this procedure, with the response estimator allowed to be constructed in an arbitrary way, and the final predictor fit by empirical risk minimization over an arbitrary function class. These upper bounds involve the risk associated with the oracle data set (all responses available), plus an overhead that measures the accuracy of the pseudo-responses. This theory characterizes both regimes in which PAST accuracy is comparable to the oracle accuracy, as well as more challenging regimes where it behaves poorly. We demonstrate its empirical performance across a range of applications, including forecasting of societal ills over time with future covariates as helpers;prediction of cardiovascular risk after heart attacks with prescription data as helpers;and diagnosing pneumonia from chest X-rays using machine-generated predictions as helpers. © 2024, CC BY.

Deep neural networks are vulnerable to adversarial examples, which can fool classifiers by adding small perturbations. Various adversarial attack methods have been proposed in the past several years, and most of them add the perturbation in a "sparse" or "global" way. Since the number of pixels perturbed by the "sparse" method and the perturbation intensity of each pixel added by the "global" method are both small, the adversarial property can be destroyed easily. Finally, it makes the adversarial attack and the adversarial training based on these samples unreliable. To address this issue, we present an "pixel-wise" method which is somewhere in between the "sparse" or "global" way. First, the perception of human eyes to the error of different image regions is different. Second, image processing methods have different effects on the different areas of the image. Based on these two considerations, we propose an imperceptible and reliable adversarial attack method, which projects the perturbation to the different areas differently. Extensive experiments demonstrate our method can preserve the attack ability while maintaining good view quality. More importantly, the proposed projection can be combined with existing attack methods to generate a stronger generation algorithm which improves the robustness of adversarial examples. Based on the proposed method, the reliability of adversarial attacks can be greatly improved. © 2022, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Continuous-time quantum walks (CTQWs) on dynamic graphs, referred to as dynamic CTQWs, are a recently introduced universal model of computation that offers a new paradigm in which to envision quantum algorithms. In this work we develop a mapping from dynamic CTQWs to the gate model of computation in the form of an algorithm to convert arbitrary single edge walks and single self loop walks, which are the fundamental building blocks of dynamic CTQWs, to their circuit model counterparts. We use this mapping to introduce an arbitrary quantum state preparation framework based on dynamic CTQWs. Our approach utilizes global information about the target state, relates state preparation to finding the optimal path in a graph, and leads to optimizations in the reduction of controls that are not as obvious in other approaches. Interestingly, classical optimization problems such as the minimal hitting set, minimum spanning tree, and shortest Hamiltonian path problems arise in our framework. We test our methods against uniformly controlled rotations methods, used by Qiskit, and find ours requires fewer CX gates when the target state has a polynomial number of non-zero amplitudes.

Spatio-temporal load shifting for truly clean computing

Companies with datacenters are procuring significant amounts of renewable energy to reduce their carbon footprint. There is increasing interest in achieving 24/7 Carbon-Free Energy (CFE) matching in electricity usage, aiming to eliminate all carbon footprints associated with electricity consumption on an hourly basis. However, the variability of renewable energy resources poses significant challenges for achieving this goal. We explore the impact of shifting computing jobs and associated power loads both in time and between datacenter locations. We develop an optimization model to simulate a network of geographically distributed datacenters managed by a company leveraging spatio-temporal load flexibility to achieve 24/7 CFE matching. We isolate three signals relevant for informed use of load flexiblity: varying average quality of renewable energy resources, low correlation between wind power generation over long distances due to different weather conditions, and lags in solar radiation peak due to Earth's rotation. We illustrate that the location of datacenters and the time of year affect which signal drives an effective load-shaping strategy. The energy procurement and load-shifting decisions based on informed use of these signals facilitate the resource-efficiency and cost-effectiveness of clean computing-the costs of 24/7 CFE are reduced by 1.29±0.07 e/MWh for every additional percentage of flexible load. We provide practical guidelines on how companies with datacenters can leverage spatio-temporal load flexibility for truly clean computing. Due to the increasing importance of complex systems, the problems of modelling and simulation (M&S) of these systems, their approaches and solutions have been studied extensively these last years. In this paper, we present a novel approach to modelling and simulation of discrete event dynamic systems (DEDS), based on the combination of discrete event systems specification (DEVS) and agent group role (AGR). In this study, the DEVS atomic models are transformed into agents and the DEVS coupled models into groups of agents. Thus, we provide a set of procedures and functions that allow the systematic transformation from DEVS into AGR models in order to be implemented in multi-agent platforms.
