For each smart home, the need of energy consumption supervision is necessary, which plays an important role to ensure the highest power quality and to enhance the stability of the whole grid. The current document implements a smart home supply strategy based on endless resources to reduce the electricity bill and confirm the energy balance. In this context, a proposed supervision algorithm operates in eight cases to reach optimal energy flow between renewable generators, home battery and grid in a smart home concept is presented. The system is evaluated using the framework “Business Process Model and Notation” (BPMN) Camunda basing on information stored in Firebase Cloud and results are presented in order to manifest the efficiency of this control strategy.

Compressed Gradient Tracking Algorithms for Distributed Nonconvex Optimization

In this paper, we study the distributed nonconvex optimization problem, aiming to minimize the average value of the local nonconvex cost functions using local information exchange. To reduce the communication overhead, we introduce three general classes of compressors, i.e., compressors with bounded relative compression error, compressors with globally bounded absolute compression error, and compressors with locally bounded absolute compression error. By integrating them, respectively, with the distributed gradient tracking algorithm, we then propose three corresponding compressed distributed nonconvex optimization algorithms. Motivated by the state-of-the-art BEER algorithm proposed in [1], which is an efficient compressed algorithm integrating gradient tracking with biased and contractive compressors, our first proposed algorithm extends this algorithm to accommodate both biased and non-contractive compressors. For each algorithm, we design a novel Lyapunov function to demonstrate its sublinear convergence to a stationary point if the local cost functions are smooth. Furthermore, when the global cost function satisfies the Polyak–Lojasiewicz (P–L) condition, we show that our proposed algorithms linearly converge to a global optimal point. It is worth noting that, for compressors with bounded relative compression error and globally bounded absolute compression error, our proposed algorithms’ parameters do not require prior knowledge of the P–L constant. The theoretical results are illustrated by numerical examples, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms in significantly reducing the communication burden while maintaining the convergence performance. Moreover, simulation results show that the proposed algorithms outperform the state-of-the-art compressed distributed nonconvex optimization algorithms. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is considered as an important component for future communication networks. In this paper, an air-to-ground (A2G) channel sounder is designed and implemented for UAV communication channel measurement and characterization. The channel impulse response (CIR) extraction is implemented on a field programmable gate array (FPGA) to improve extraction efficiency. Based on the channel characteristics under measured (or baseline) scenarios, a transfer learning neural network (TNN) framework is also proposed to predict the channel characteristics of other unmeasured (or transferred) scenarios. In the proposed framework, the baseline matrices of neural network parameters are obtained from the measurement data of baseline scenarios. The ray tracing (RT) simulation data is only used to obtain the extrapolation matrices where we utilize imperfect digital map and do not require a highly accurate RT simulation. Then the neural network driven by the baseline and extrapolation matrices is used to predict the channel characteristics of transferred scenarios. To verify the proposed prediction method, the channel characteristics including path loss, K-factor, and root mean square delay spread of a near-urban scenario are firstly measured. Then, the corresponding channel characteristics of a transferred dense-urban scenario are predicted by the proposed TNN method and validated by the measurement data. It is shown that the predicted channel characteristics are well consistent with the measured ones.

Automatic Repeat Request Design in AoI-Aware Broadcast With Heterogeneous Direct and Relay-Assisted Users

This paper investigates the design of automatic repeat request (ARQ) protocols in age of information (AoI)-aware broadcast systems with heterogeneous users, including both direct and relay-assisted users. In this setup, a direct user receives status updates directly via a single-hop link, while a relay-assisted user can receive status updates through either a direct single-hop link or a two-hop relay-assisted link. While ARQ is commonly used to ensure reliable transmission in error-prone wireless networks, previous studies suggest that ARQ does not improve the average AoI in single-hop networks. However, its impact on AoI in systems with relays, particularly those involving heterogeneous users, remains unclear. We address this gap by analyzing the average AoI under different ARQ strategies, introducing a transmission limit k ≥ 0 at the relay. Here, k = 0, k = 1, and k > 1 correspond to non-relay, non-ARQ-at-relay, and truncated-ARQ-at-relay strategies, respectively. Utilizing a unified Markov chain framework that models the transmission processes for each user type, we derive the theoretical average AoI. Our results show that the direct user benefits most from non-relay and non-ARQ strategies, similar to single-hop systems. In contrast, the relay-assisted user achieves optimal performance with truncated-ARQ-at-relay, leveraging both direct and relay-assisted links. For the overall system, applying a non-ARQ-at-relay approach strikes a balance in AoI between the direct and relay-assisted users, leading to a more stable and lower system-wide average AoI. © 2014 IEEE.

In today's rapidly evolving technological landscape, ensuring the security of systems requires continuous authentication over sessions and comprehensive access management during user interaction with a device. With the increasing use of smartphones and Internet of Things (IoT) devices, Split Learning (SL) and Federated Learning (FL) have emerged as promising technologies that can tackle the authentication problem while protecting the user's private data. The SL distributed technology enables users with limited resources to complete neural network model training with server assistance, lessening the computational burden from the client side. In addition, FL aims to combine knowledge between different nodes collaboratively. The privacy and security of the user's data are ensured in both approaches, as only the models' weights are shared with a server. This study employs a cluster-based approach using split learning and federated learning techniques to improve the efficiency and robustness of training Machine Learning (ML) models. We compare the approaches' performance to baseline methods and demonstrate their advantages using the UMDAA-02-FD face detection and MNIST datasets. Our findings show that combining both technologies achieves high accuracy in continuous authentication scenarios while maintaining user privacy. These results highlight the importance of SL and FL in cybersecurity, enabling continuous authentication and demonstrating their potential to revolutionize how we address security.

Diabetes poses a considerable global health challenge,with varying levels of diabetes knowledge among healthcare professionals,highlighting the importance of diabetes *** Language Models(LLMs)provide new insights into diabetes training,but their performance in diabetes-related queries remains uncertain,especially outside the English language like *** first evaluated the performance of ten LLMs:ChatGPT-3.5,ChatGPT-4.0,Google Bard,LlaMA-7B,LlaMA2-7B,Baidu ERNIE Bot,Ali Tongyi Qianwen,MedGPT,HuatuoGPT,and Chinese LlaMA2-7B on diabetes-related queries,based on the Chinese National Certificate Examination for Primary Diabetes Care in China(NCE-CPDC)and the English Specialty Certificate Examination in Endocrinology and Diabetes of Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of the United ***,we assessed the training of primary care physicians(PCPs)without and with the assistance of ChatGPT-4.0 in the NCE-CPDC examination to ascertain the reliability of LLMs as medical *** found that ChatGPT-4.0 outperformed other LLMs in the English examination,achieving a passing accuracy of 62.50%,which was significantly higher than that of Google Bard,LlaMA-7B,and *** the NCE-CPFC examination,ChatGPT-4.0,Ali Tongyi Qianwen,Baidu ERNIE Bot,Google Bard,MedGPT,and ChatGPT-3.5 successfully passed,whereas LlaMA2-7B,HuatuoGPT,Chinese LLaMA2-7B,and LlaMA-7B ***-4.0(84.82%)surpassed all PCPs and assisted most PCPs in the NCE-CPDC examination(improving by 1%–6.13%).In summary,LLMs demonstrated outstanding competence for diabetes-related questions in both the Chinese and English language,and hold great potential to assist future diabetes training for physicians globally.

Artificial Intelligence-Generated Content (AIGC) is an automated method for generating, manipulating, and modifying valuable and diverse data using AI algorithms creatively. This survey paper focuses on the deployment of AIGC applications, e.g., ChatGPT and Dall-E, at mobile edge networks, namely mobile AIGC networks, that provide personalized and customized AIGC services in real time while maintaining user privacy. We begin by introducing the background and fundamentals of generative models and the lifecycle of AIGC services at mobile AIGC networks, which includes data collection, training, fine-tuning, inference, and product management. We then discuss the collaborative cloud-edge-mobile infrastructure and technologies required to support AIGC services and enable users to access AIGC at mobile edge networks. Furthermore, we explore AIGC-driven creative applications and use cases for mobile AIGC networks. Additionally, we discuss the implementation, security, and privacy challenges of deploying mobile AIGC networks. Finally, we highlight some future research directions and open issues for the full realization of mobile AIGC networks. © 2023, CC BY.

During the outbreak of infectious diseases, individual always make some adaptive response to avoid infected the diseases. In this paper, we introduce SIRS model on scale-free networks that take into account behavioral memory and time delay to depict individuals’ adaptive feedback, which is better characterize the actual spread of epidemics. We address uniform persistence and find that the model has the sharp threshold property, that is, for the basic reproduction number less than one, the disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable, while for the basic reproduction number is above one, the endemic equilibrium is globally stable. We further analyze the effects of two control strategies (the vaccination of susceptible people and treatment of infected people) on epidemic dynamics by optimal control strategy. The existence and uniqueness of the optimal control strategy are obtained. Finally, we perform some stochastic network simulations that yield quantitative agreement with the deterministic mean-field approach. The final results show that the effect of time delay does not change the basic reproduction number, but it plays an important role in the process of disease transmission. The behavioral memory is able to affect the basic reproduction number, and it has important and positive implications for disease transmission and control. The work of this paper can provide a theoretical basis and reference for the prediction and prevention of infectious diseases. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Since the release of the first 3D watermarking algorithm in the last decade, 3D meshes applying such an algorithm have been growing up with a diversity of techniques during the embedding of information into meshes. The main objective is always to secure data shared by remote users. The originality of the present work is issued from the use of spherical harmonics to transform the mesh to the frequency domain to be watermarked, and the entropy concept to estimate the optimal order of the reconstruction. Our algorithm includes three parts. The first is the data pre-processing based on a combination of a signature generated by the well-known Secure Hash Algorithm, and a mesh description, subject to a convolutional error correcting code. The second step is the mesh treatment, consisting in extracting spherical harmonics coefficients to be watermarked. Finally, the third part consists in inserting data into coefficients using LSB and quantification method, and next to reconstruct the watermarked mesh. The experimentation of our approach has shown a high insertion rate, while maintaining the mesh quality. It is also robust against the most popular attacks. Since the 3D mesh security 3D mesh security has become intellectual property, 3D watermarking algorithms have continued to appear to secure 3D meshes shared by remote users. The originality of this approach is to insert copyright data in multiresolution domain using multi-wavelet transform which allowed us to significantly increase the size of the watermark. Our algorithm includes then two rounds of insertion where each one applies a different type of wavelet transform. The first one undergoes coefficients generated by Haar wavelet transform. As for the second iteration, it inserts data into coefficients resulting from Schauder wavelet transform. The watermark, which is a combination of the mesh description and source mesh signature (generated using SHA512) are encoded using a Turbo-code before being inserted into wavelet coefficients. Embedding data includes a transformation of these later to spherical coordinate system and a modulation steps. Finally watermarked mesh is reconstructed using inverse wavelet transform. The experimentation of our approach has shown a very high insertion rate due to the use of the hybrid insertion domain, while maintaining the mesh quality. Watermarked mesh and extracted data are obtained in real time. Our approach is also robust against the most popular attacks.
