Though beneficial for encouraging the Visual Question Answering (VQA) models to discover the underlying knowledge by exploiting the input-output correlation beyond image and text contexts, the existing knowledge VQA datasets are mostly annotated in a crowdsource way, e.g., collecting questions and external reasons from different users via the internet. In addition to the challenge of knowledge reasoning, how to deal with the annotator bias also remains unsolved, which often leads to superficial over-fitted correlations between questions and answers. To address this issue, we propose a novel dataset named Knowledge-Routed Visual Question Reasoning for VQA model evaluation. Considering that a desirable VQA model should correctly perceive the image context, understand the question, and incorporate its learned knowledge, our proposed dataset aims to cutoff the shortcut learning exploited by the current deep embedding models and push the research boundary of the knowledge-based visual question reasoning. Specifically, we generate the question-answer pair based on both the Visual Genome scene graph and an external knowledge base with controlled programs to disentangle the knowledge from other biases. The programs can select one or two triplets from the scene graph or knowledge base to push multi-step reasoning, avoid answer ambiguity, and balanced the answer distribution. In contrast to the existing VQA datasets, we further imply the following two major constraints on the programs to incorporate knowledge reasoning: i) multiple knowledge triplets can be related to the question, but only one knowledge relates to the image object. This can enforce the VQA model to correctly perceive the image instead of guessing the knowledge based on the given question solely;ii) all questions are based on different knowledge, but the candidate answers are the same for both the training and test sets. The first known case of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was identified in December 2019. It has spread worldwide, leading to an ongoing pandemic, imposed restrictions and costs to many countries. Predicting the number of new cases and deaths during this period can be a useful step in predicting the costs and facilities required in the future. The purpose of this study is to predict new cases and deaths rate one, three and seven-day ahead during the next 100 days. The motivation for predicting every n days (instead of just every day) is the investigation of the possibility of computational cost reduction and still achieving reasonable performance. Such a scenario may be encountered real-time forecasting of time series. Six different deep learning methods are examined on the data adopted from the WHO website. Three methods are LSTM, Convolutional LSTM, and GRU. The bidirectional extension is then considered for each method to forecast the rate of new cases and new deaths in Australia and Iran countries. This study is novel as it carries out a comprehensive evaluation of the aforementioned three deep learning methods and their bidirectional extensions to perform prediction on COVID-19 new cases and new death rate time series. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that Bi-GRU and Bi-Conv-LSTM models are used for prediction on COVID-19 new cases and new deaths time series. The evaluation of the methods is presented in the form of graphs and Friedman statistical test. The results show that the bidirectional models have lower errors than other models. Several error evaluation metrics are presented to compare all models, and finally, the superiority of bidirectional methods is determined. Uplink-downlink duality between multiple-access and broadcast channels with compressing relays

—Uplink-downlink duality refers to the fact that under a sum-power constraint, the capacity regions of a Gaussian multiple-access channel and a Gaussian broadcast channel with Hermitian transposed channel matrices are identical. This paper generalizes this result to a cooperative cellular network, in which remote access-points are deployed as relays in serving the users under the coordination of a central processor (CP). In this model, the users and the relays are connected over noisy wireless links, while the relays and the CP are connected over noiseless but rate-limited fronthaul links. Based on a Lagrangian technique, this paper establishes a duality relationship between such a multiple-access relay channel and broadcast relay channel, under the assumption that the relays use compression-based strategies. Specifically, we show that under the same total transmit power constraint and individual fronthaul rate constraints, the achievable rate regions of the Gaussian multiple-access and broadcast relay channels are identical, when either independent compression or Wyner-Ziv and multivariate compression strategies are used. The key observations are that if the beamforming vectors at the relays are fixed, the sum-power minimization problems under the achievable rate and fronthaul constraints in both the uplink and the downlink can be transformed into either a linear programming or a semidefinite programming problem depending on the compression technique, and that the uplink and downlink problems are Lagrangian duals of each other. Moreover, the dual variables corresponding to the downlink rate constraints become the uplink powers;the dual variables corresponding to the downlink fronthaul constraints become the uplink quantization noises. Background: systems Medicine is a novel approach to medicine, that is, an interdisciplinary field that considers the human body as a system, composed of multiple parts and of complex relationships at multiple levels, and further integrated into an environment. Exploring systems Medicine implies understanding and combining concepts coming from diametral different fields, including medicine, biology, statistics, modeling and simulation, and data science. Such heterogeneity leads to semantic issues, which may slow down implementation and fruitful interaction between these highly diverse fields. Methods: In this review, we collect and explain more than100 terms related to systems Medicine. These include both modeling and data science terms and basic systems medicine terms, along with some synthetic definitions, examples of applications, and lists of relevant references. High-precision quantum-mechanical calculations have been developed to investigate positronium (Ps) scattering. Positronium scattering experiments are a powerful tool to study positronium-matter interactions, but the theoretical description of these experiments needs better accuracy. We have developed an ab initio confined variational approach that can reach higher collision energy, includes higher orbital momenta and uses small confining radii. Calculation of the Ps–He momentum-transfer cross section shows that the experimental Doppler broadening spectroscopy results are questionable. The energy dependence of the pickoff annihilation rate is also calculated, demonstrating an important role of the so far neglected P-wave contribution.

Generation and application of constrained interaction test suites using base forbidden tuples with mixed neighborhood tabu search

To ensure the quality of current highly configurable software systems, intensive testing is needed to test all the configuration combinations and detect all the possible faults. This task becomes more challenging for most modern software systems when constraints are given for the configurations. Here, intensive testing is almost impossible, especially considering the additional computation required to resolve the constraints during the test generation process. In addition, this testing process is exhaustive and time-consuming. Combinatorial interaction strategies can systematically reduce the number of test cases to construct a minimal test suite without affecting the effectiveness of the tests. This paper presents a new efficient search-based strategy to generate constrained interaction test suites to cover all possible combinations. The paper also shows a new application of constrained interaction testing in software fault searches. The proposed strategy initially generates the set of all possible t − tuple combinations;then, it filters out the set by removing the forbidden t − tuples using the base forbidden tuple (BFT) approach. The strategy also utilizes a mixed neighborhood tabu search (TS) to construct optimal or near-optimal constrained test suites. The efficiency of the proposed method is evaluated through a comparison against two well-known state-of-the-art tools. The evaluation consists of three sets of experiments for 35 standard benchmarks. Additionally, the effectiveness and quality of the results are assessed using a real-world case study. Experimental results show that the proposed strategy outperforms one of the competitive strategies, ACTS, for approximately 83% of the benchmarks and achieves similar results to CASA for 65% of the benchmarks when the interaction strength is 2. For an interaction strength of 3, the proposed method outperforms other competitive strategies for approximately 60% and 42% of the benchmarks. The proposed strategy can also

Background: Diarrhoeal diseases claim more than 1 million lives annually and are a leading cause of death in children younger than 5 years. Comprehensive global estimates of the diarrhoeal disease burden for specific age groups of children younger than 5 years are scarce, and the burden in children older than 5 years and in adults is also understudied. We used results from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study 2021 to assess the burden of, and trends in, diarrhoeal diseases overall and attributable to 13 pathogens, as well as the contributions of associated risk factors, in children and adults in 204 countries and territories from 1990 to 2021. Methods: We used the Cause of Death Ensemble modelling strategy to analyse vital registration data, verbal autopsy data, mortality surveillance data, and minimally invasive tissue sampling data. We used DisMod-MR (version 2.1), a Bayesian meta-regression tool, to analyse incidence and prevalence data identified via systematic reviews, population-based surveys, and claims and inpatient data. We calculated diarrhoeal disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) as the sum of years of life lost (YLLs) and years lived with disability (YLDs) for each location, year, and age–sex group. For aetiology estimation, we used a counterfactual approach to quantify population-attributable fractions (PAFs). Additionally, we estimated the diarrhoeal disease burden attributable to the independent effects of risk factors using the comparative risk assessment framework. Findings: In 2021, diarrhoeal diseases caused an estimated 1·17 million (95% uncertainty interval 0·793–1·62) deaths globally, representing a 60·3% (50·6–69·0) decrease since 1990 (2·93 million [2·31–3·73] deaths). The most pronounced decline was in children younger than 5 years, with a 79·2% (72·4–84·6) decrease in diarrhoeal deaths. As the main contribution, this document provides a consistent discretization of a class of fixed-time stable systems, namely predefined-time stable systems. In the unperturbed case, the proposed approach allows obtaining not only a consistent but exact discretization of the considered class of predefined-time stable systems, whereas in the perturbed case, the consistent discretization preserves the predefined-time stability property. Getting access to labelled datasets in certain sensitive application domains can be challenging. Hence, one often resorts to transfer learning to transfer knowledge learned from a source domain with sufficient labelled data to a target domain with limited labelled data. However, most existing transfer learning techniques only focus on one-way transfer which brings no benefit to the source domain. In addition, there is the risk of a covert adversary corrupting a number of domains, which can consequently result in inaccurate prediction or privacy leakage. In this paper we construct a secure and Verifiable collaborative Transfer Learning scheme, VerifyTL, to support two-way transfer learning over potentially untrusted datasets by improving knowledge transfer from a target domain to a source domain. Further, we equip VerifyTL with a cross transfer unit and a weave transfer unit employing SPDZ computation to provide privacy guarantee and verification in the two-domain setting and the multi-domain setting, respectively. Thus, VerifyTL is secure against covert adversary that can compromise up to n − 1 out of n data domains. We analyze the security of VerifyTL and evaluate its performance over two real-world datasets.
