software Product Line (SPL) development is a new approach to software engineering that aims at the development of a whole range of products. One of the problems which hinders the adoption of that approach is related with the management of the products of the line. Additionally, the scope of a software product line is determined by the bounds of the capabilities provided by the collection of products in the product line. This introduces new challenges related to the scope problem. One of the main three different forms of scoping is the Product Portfolio Scoping (PPS). PPS aims at defining the products that should be developed as well as their key features. While this has an impact on the actual reuse opportunities, it is usually driven from marketing aspects. Defining a product portfolio by considering costumers satisfaction and cost aspects is a NP-hard problem. This work presents a hybrid approach, which combines fuzzy inference systems and the multi-objective metaheuristics NSGA-II to support product management by generating portfolios of products, based in segments of users and the development cost of the assets of the SPL. Fuzzy inference systems are used to generate development cost of an asset by using coupling, number of code lines and cyclomatic complexity and also to estimate the quality of the products generated by the optimization module of our approach. The NSGA-II metaheuristic is used to search for products minimizing the cost and maximizing the relevance of the candidate products. The results show that the proposed approach is effective in proposing the best products in terms of relevance and cost of the assets.

Non-convex sparsity-inducing penalties have recently received considerable attentions in sparse learning. Recent theoretical investigations have demonstrated their superiority over the convex counterparts in several sparse learning settings. However, solving the non-convex optimization problems associated with non-convex penalties remains a big challenge. A commonly used approach is the Multi-Stage (MS) convex relaxation (or DC programming), which relaxes the original non-convex problem to a sequence of convex problems. This approach is usually not very practical for large-scale problems because its computational cost is a multiple of solving a single convex problem. In this paper, we propose a General Iterative Shrinkage and Thresholding (GIST) algorithm to solve the nonconvex optimization problem for a large class of non-convex penalties. The GIST algorithm iteratively solves a proximal operator problem, which in turn has a closed-form solution for many commonly used penalties. At each outer iteration of the algorithm, we use a line search initialized by the Barzilai-Borwein (BB) rule that allows finding an appropriate step size quickly. The paper also presents a detailed convergence analysis of the GIST algorithm. The efficiency of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated by extensive experiments on large-scale data sets. At Crypto'07, Goyal introduced the notion of accountable authority identity-based encryption (A-IBE) in order to mitigate the inherent key escrow problem in identity-based encryption, and proposed two concrete constructions. In an A-IBE system, if the private key generator (PKG) distributes a decryption key or produces an unauthorized decryption box for a user maliciously, it runs the risk of being caught and sued in the court of law with the help of a tracing algorithm. Subsequent efforts focused on constructions of A-IBE schemes with enhanced security. In these A-IBE constructions, the tracing algorithm needs to take a user's decryption key as input. If the user lost his key or is deliberately uncooperative in court, then we cannot implicate the PKG or the user. An interesting open problem left by Goyal et al. at CCS'08 is to consider the possibility of tracing a decryption box using only a public tracing key, or with the assistance of a tracing authority. In this paper, we address this problem positively. We first extend the original model of A-IBE to accommodate public traceability, and then propose an A-IBE scheme in the new model. To the best of our knowledge, the proposed scheme is the first A-IBE with public traceability. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

We are interested in the coverage path planning problem with imperfect sensors, within the context of robotics for mine countermeasures. In the studied problem, an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) equipped with sonar surveys the bottom of the ocean searching for mines. We use a cellular decomposition to represent the ocean floor by a grid of uniform square cells. The robot scans a fixed number of cells sideways with a varying probability of detection as a function of distance and of seabed type. The goal is to plan a path that achieves the minimal required coverage in each cell while minimizing the total traveled distance and the total number of turns. We propose an off-line hybrid algorithm based on dynamic programming and on a traveling salesman problem reduction. We present experimental results and show that our algorithm's performance is superior to published results in terms of path quality and computational time, which makes it possible to implement the algorithm in an AUV.

SaaS (software-as-a-Service) often uses multi-tenancy architecture (MTA) where tenant developers compose their applications online using the components stored in the SaaS database. Tenant applications need to be tested, and combinatorial testing can be used. While numerous combinatorial testing techniques are available, most of them produce static sequences of test configurations and their goal is often to provide sufficient coverage such as 2-way interaction coverage. But the goal of SaaS testing is to identify those compositions that are faulty for tenant applications. This paper proposes an adaptive test configuration generation algorithm AR (Adaptive Reasoning) that can rapidly identify those faulty combinations so that those faulty combinations cannot be selected by tenant developers for composition. The AR algorithm has been evaluated by both simulation and real experimentation using a MTA SaaS sample running on GAE (Google App Engine). Both the simulation and experiment showed show that the AR algorithm can identify those faulty combinations rapidly. Whenever a new component is submitted to the SaaS database, the AR algorithm can be applied so that any faulty interactions with new components can be identified to continue to support future tenant applications.

Based on conventional Ito or Stratonovich interpretation, zero-mean multiplicative noise can induce shifts of attractors or even changes of topology to a deterministic dynamics. Such phenomena usually introduce additional complications in analysis of these systems. We employ in this paper a new stochastic interpretation leading to a straightforward consequence: The steady state distribution is Boltzmann-Gibbs type with a potential function severing as a Lyapunov function for the deterministic dynamics. It implies that an attractor corresponds to the local extremum of the distribution function and the probability is equally distributed right on an attractor. We consider a prototype of nonequilibrium processes, noisy limit cycle dynamics. Exact results are obtained for a class of limit cycles, including a van der Pol type oscillator. These results provide a new angle for understanding processes without detailed balance and can be verified by experiments.

This paper is devoted to the problem of state estimate of discrete-time stochastic systems with Markov jump parameters. A robust algorithm-diagonal interacting multiple model algorithm based on H_∞ filtering (DIMMH) is presented for maneuvering target tracking when measurement noise is of unknown statistics. Extensive Monte Carlo simulations show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed algorithm.

This paper proposes a new algebraic system, Test Algebra (TA), for identifying faults in combinatorial testing for SaaS (software-as-a-Service) applications. SaaS as a part of cloud computing is a new software delivery model, and mission-critical applications are composed, deployed, and executed in cloud platforms. Testing SaaS applications is a challenging task because new applications need to be tested when they are composed before they can be deployed for execution. Combinatorial testing algorithms can be used to identify faulty configurations and interactions from 2-way all the way to k-way where k is the number of components in the application. The TA defines rules to identify faulty configurations and interactions. Using the rules defined in the TA, a collection of configurations can be tested concurrently in different servers and in any order and the results obtained will be still same due to the algebraic constraints.
