Disaster management information system are essential for handling emergencies and saving lives through swift responses and coordination. This study aims to analyse and design an efficient backend technology for such apps. Research methods involve literature review, interviews, and observation with stakeholders. Load balancing is found effective for optimizing disaster management, efficiently distributing workloads and ensuring high system availability. The analysis identifies functional and non-functional requirements, examining technologies like API, WebSocket, Caching, and Relational Database. The design section creates a 3-tier architecture with caching for enhanced performance and scalability. Integration with Mobile Cognitive Radio Base Station (MCRBS) ensures emergency communication in affected areas. copy;2023 IEEE. © 2023 IEEE.

The ATT&CK MITRE framework serves as an expansive repository of adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures. Given the sheer volume of these intricate attack patterns, the conventional manual navigation method proves to be time-intensive and less efficient for security analysts. As a remedy, there arises a compelling necessity to present the rich content encapsulated within the ATT&CK MITRE repository through interactive visualizations. In this paper ATT&CKViz an interactive web-based cyber-Attack patterns visualization tool is presented that aims to empower security analysts with the ability to effortlessly explore the repository from diverse angles, which facilitates deep insights into cyber threats. The aim is to understand cyber threat efficiently with a timely response. The empirical evaluations depict that effectiveness and user-friendliness of ATT&CKViz. © 2024 IEEE.

Creating an Inclusive, Vibrant Learning Environment within a Large, software Engineering program - Experiential Learning Experiences Created for Students, Faculty, and Senior Design Coaches & Sponsors This presentation describes several initiatives currently underway within a large software engineering (SE) department at a private university within the northeast US to positively affect levels of inclusiveness within the department's learning environment. Information gathered from faculty, staff, student interviews and focus group discussions, as well as a department goal to improve female freshmen retention in the SE major motivated the SE department chair, departmental academic advisors and faculty, and the college's women in computing director to launch this set of aligned activities in collaboration with the NSF ADVANCE funded program (NSF #1209115) at the university level. The resulting activities ideally enhance diversity and inclusion for students from all underrepresented groups in the program with a focus on groups based on gender. Four experiential learning experiences have been created and concurrently implemented within the SE department to promote an inclusive academic environment. These include: (1) faculty targeted discussions and summer readings, (2) an interactive workshop designed for all first year SE students, (3) a workshop created for the coaches and sponsors, most of who are not regular RIT employees, who directly mentor student teams for the two‐semester senior project course, and (4) the development of a resource flowchart which supports students, faculty, and staff in maintaining an inclusive learning environment within the department. The approach used in creating each is adaptive and the four resulting products are multi‐faceted in regards to target audience, modality of learning experience, and composition of creation team. The concept of Digital Twin has been widely used by researchers to represent physical entities in computer-generated reality in the metaverse. In this research, a novel concept of 'Mobile Twin' is coined. Mobile Twin serves as a replica of a mobile device in the virtual environment enabling communication. The purpose of introducing Mobile Twin in the metaverse is to bring mobility and benefits similar to tangible mobile devices while eliminating the need for individual energy sources, storage limitations, resource usage, and efficiency. The true benefits of a mobile twin can be achieved with an architecture where computing nodes are decentralized, data processing is near the network's edge with faster response times and reduced latency. For this purpose, the mobile twin-based applications of metaverse are built over edge computing-based network architecture. This idea introduced the aspect of 'Revolutionary Ultra-low latency (RULL)' in the metaverse. © 2024 IEEE.

Deep Semantic and Attentive Network for Unsupervised Video Summarization

With the rapid growth of video data, video summarization is a promising approach to shorten a lengthy video into a compact version. Although supervised summarization approaches have achieved state-of-the-art performance, they require frame-level annotated labels. Such an annotation process is time-consuming and tedious. In this article, we propose a novel deep summarization framework named Deep Semantic and Attentive Network for Video Summarization (DSAVS) that can select the most semantically representative summary by minimizing the distance between video representation and text representation without any frame-level labels. Another challenge associated with video summarization tasks mainly originates from the difficulty of considering temporal information over a long time. Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) performs well for temporal dependencies modeling but does not work well with long video clips. Therefore, we introduce a self-attention mechanism into our summarization framework to capture the long-range temporal dependencies among the frames. Extensive experiments on two popular benchmark datasets, i.e., SumMe and TVSum, show that our proposed framework outperforms other state-of-the-art unsupervised approaches and even most supervised methods. © 2022 Association for Computing Machinery.

High-precision cylindrical parts are critical components across various industries including aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing. Since these parts play a pivotal role in the performance and safety of the systems they are integrated into, they are often subject to stringent quality control measures. Defects on the interior and exterior wall surfaces of these cylindrical parts can severely undermine their function, leading to degraded performance, increased wear, and even catastrophic failures in extreme cases. This article aims to comprehensively summarize the task definition, challenges, mainstream methods, public datasets, evaluation metrics, and other aspects of surface defect detection for high-precision cylindrical parts, in order to help researchers quickly grasp this field. Specifically, the background and characteristics of industrial defect detection are first introduced. Owing to the unique geometric features of cylindrical part surfaces, algorithms and equipment for image data acquisition used in surface defect detection are elaborated in detail. This article presents an extensive overview of state-of-the-art surface defect detection techniques designed for high-precision cylindrical components, all rooted in deep learning. The methods are systematically classified into three main categories: fully supervised, unsupervised, and alternative approaches, based on their data labeling strategies. Additionally, the paper conducts a comprehensive analysis within each category, shedding light on their unique strengths, limitations, and practical use cases. Concluding the discussion, the paper provides insights into future development trends and potential research directions in this field that will lead to manufacturing innovation. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

The aim of this study is to develop a fun and effective computer application game for children with amblyopia and to prevent eye strain in people whose work or lifestyle involves constantly looking at screens. The main motivation is to use children's enthusiasm for playing video games for the treatment of amblyopia. For this, hardware and software products were brought together, and a software was developed according to software engineering principles. The system was tested with a group of volunteers and necessary alterations were made. © 2023 IEEE.

This research explores the use of Fuzzy K-Nearest Neighbor(F-KNN)and Artificial Neural Networks(ANN)for predicting heart stroke incidents,focusing on the impact of feature selection methods,specifically Chi-Square and Best First Search(BFS).The study demonstrates that BFS significantly enhances the performance of both *** BFS preprocessing,the ANN model achieved an impressive accuracy of 97.5%,precision and recall of 97.5%,and an Receiver Operating Characteristics(ROC)area of 97.9%,outperforming the Chi-Square-based ANN,which recorded an accuracy of 91.4%.Similarly,the F-KNN model with BFS achieved an accuracy of 96.3%,precision and recall of 96.3%,and a Receiver Operating Characteristics(ROC)area of 96.2%,surpassing the performance of the Chi-Square F-KNN model,which showed an accuracy of 95%.These results highlight that BFS improves the ability to select the most relevant features,contributing to more reliable and accurate stroke *** findings underscore the importance of using advanced feature selection methods like BFS to enhance the performance of machine learning models in healthcare applications,leading to better stroke risk management and improved patient outcomes.

Adversarial attacks pose a significant challenge to the security and reliability of machine learning models. This paper focuses on detecting black-box adversarial attacks, where attackers operate without access to the model's internal parameters or architecture—a scenario more relevant to real-world threats than white-box settings, where such knowledge is assumed. Two novel detection methodologies are introduced: (1) a clustering-based approach that groups input data to identify anomalies and (2) a class-centric method that uses statistical properties of labeled data to compute class centers and boundaries for detecting deviations. These methods utilize thresholds derived from dynamic statistical metrics to ensure robust, efficient, and scalable *** experiments validate the effectiveness of these approaches using the Iris dataset. Results demonstrate that the clustering-based method excels in detecting adversarial samples, achieving high accuracy, while the class-based method offers a conservative alternative by minimizing false positives. Both methodologies provide practical solutions for enhancing model security, particularly in scenarios where model details are unavailable, thereby addressing the limitations of existing defense mechanisms. Future work will explore scalability and application to higher-dimensional datasets.
