An unmanned aerial system (UAS) mission of interest is to have multiple UASs coordinate the delivery of payloads. In this operation, one UAS flies over the area of interest and uses imagery to identify pinpoint areas where payload delivery should be made by other UASs. The mission operation uses imagery to pass along the location to the payload delivery UASs. Each payload UAS arrives to the area of interest using standard navigation techniques. The pinpoint navigation employs imagery *** this effort, the imagery navigation approach uses an image-correlation-based technique. The image correlator is invariant to a translation variation. The images must be mapped into a scale or rotational invariant representation. The image correlator will then provide a correlation peak based upon the representation of the navigation image. Once the target location is identified on the invariant image, the correlation peak can then be mapped back to the standard image coordinate system. To demonstrate the capabilities of the proposed image-navigation approach, the results of a two-drone experiment is presented. The technique tracks the delivery sites in the field of view while the drone maneuvers around. The resulting data shows the navigation tracking to identify that the system can control the navigation system. © 2022 IEEE.

The paper presents a feedback current control architecture for switched reluctance motors (SRMs) that employs a two degree-of-freedom (2DoF) approach. The control design incorporates direct state feedback to improve disturbance rejection capabilities and enhance robustness enabled by closed-loop frequency response shaping. The controller gain tuning method is presented through a detailed stability analysis of the closed-loop system. The effectiveness of the proposed control architecture is validated through non-linear simulations and experimental testing conducted on a 12-slot 8-pole, 12V, 250W SRM.

This paper presents a novel dynamic current regulator design for switched reluctance motor (SRM) drives, capable of tracking ramp and step commands with zero steady-state error. The proposed controller features a double integral structure, that is particularly suitable for tracking quasi-trapezoidal current references typically used for reluctance machines. Enhanced closed-loop command tracking especially with ramp commands along with improved disturbance rejection is achieved through this control scheme. A comprehensive linear analysis is provided, offering guidelines for shaping the closed-loop command tracking frequency response. The theoretical framework is corroborated by non-linear simulation results obtained from a 12-slot, 8-pole, 250W SRM, with machine parameters extracted from a finite element model. A comparative study against a proportional-integral (PI) controller demonstrates the superior performance of the proposed controller.

One of the most challenging area of diabetes research is to provide such automated insulin delivery systems - so called artificial pancreas systems - that have robust and adaptive capabilities in a highly sophysticated way. I.e. they are able to provide robust insulin delivery actions at the beginning of the therapy to satisfy the requirements of the patients without knowing the users daily lifestyle and preferences however adaptive on the short-term to learn these patient specifics to increase the quality of the therapy. One possible solution is the closed-loop systems that have self-learning features. In the present study, we have examined a glucose regulatory problem using direct reinforcement learning based controller. The approach represents the fully automatic insulin administration as the timepoint and the carbohydrate content of the meals were unknown and randomized. We constructed a virtual environment of the patient with type 1 diabetes by applying a mathematical model. Proximal policy optimization learning model with continuous action space was used. Furthermore, we evaluated the effect of different training lengths on the test scenario. © 2022 IEEE.

Wafer fabrication process data were analyzed in this paper using both linear and nonlinear bispectral analyses to examine the behavior of harmonics in the frequency domain. We used the spectral analyses to characterize and quantify the dynamic behavior of signal harmonics in the frequency domain. We focused on the measurements collected from three particular processing parameters during wafer processing. The data were divided into consecutive short segments to provide time-stamped behavior of the harmonic distributions. We also applied the nonlinear bispectral analysis to show that quadratic phase coupling interactions between the fundamental frequency and its harmonics exist, which contributes largely to the generation of multiple harmonics. Our results find that process measurements of the examined parameters exhibit a progressive change in time where the harmonic frequencies gradually reduced. © 2019 IEEE.

Changes in blood sugar levels are significantly affected by dietary carbohydrate intake, which clearly affects insulin therapy. However, currently available insulin pumps do not perform continuous blood glucose monitoring, and the patient should do so. The quality of the treatment can be further improved if the phenomenon of eating can be recognized based on the characteristic movements, and then by sending an automatic signal of the event to the insulin pump, it can be taken into account that an increase in blood sugar levels is expected. In our work, we focused on this task and, using 4 different tools, collected data from more than 8 people on their hand movements during their meals, on which we performed various data manipulations. Finally, using the aggregation of the obtained data set, we tested different machine learning techniques, from which we will select the optimal algorithm that can recognize the motion characteristic of carbohydrate intake independently of the person with the smallest error. The article presents the tools used for the measurement, the operations performed on the data, as well as the tried and tested machine learning methods and their comparative analysis. Our goal is to improve the quality of life of people with diabetes by increasing the effectiveness of base bolus therapy.

Two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors have shown competitive potential for applications into beyond-silicon electronics. However, the controllable electrical characteristic of metal-semiconductor interfaces is still a challenge for high performance electronics due to Fermi level pinning. To explore Ti3C2T2/MoS2 (T= OH, F, O) for high performance electronics, the vertical electric field and interlayer distance are adopted here to regulate the electrical characteristic of interfaces based on the first-principles calculations. Though this, the electrical characteristic of Ti3C2O2/MoS2 and Ti3C2F2/MoS2 are more sensitive to electric field or interlayer distance than that of Ti3C2(OH)2/MoS2. Especially, the negative electric field with larger than -0.2 V/Å makes Ti3C2O2/MoS2 interface change from p-type Schottky to n-type Schottky contact. Furthermore, the Ti3C2O2/MoS2 interface can not only switch from p-type Schottky to n-type Schottky contact, but also from p-type Schottky to n-type Ohmic contact by varying interlayer distance. Moreover, the tunneling barriers of all interfaces are more sensitive to interlayer distance than to electric field. This work provides vital insights for high-performance electronics of Ti3C2T2/MoS2 (T=OH, F, O) in experiments. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The effort for checking and correcting the spatial movement accuracy of a processing machine with 5 axes is very high. Calibration and recalibration must be carried out directly on the machine by the machine supplier or a company specializing in this. This is associated with high personnel and long machine downtimes. These constraints can be improved by using modern methods. A consistent approach of an AR-supported measurement procedure for the preparation and execution of a required measurement run and the execution of the calibration itself as a digital service is presented. This enables rapid execution by the machine operator himself using a DoubleBallBar measurement system without the need of the presence of the machine manufacturer. The determination of the calibration parameters on the basis of the measurement data is then carried out by the machine manufacturer and provided as a service. The basis for such a secure and auditable service is a digital service platform. This serves as an intermediary between the user and the machine manufacturer and uses distributed ledger technology. The approach presented is the subject of current development work.

Situational Awareness is an indispensable barrier against execution human errors from cascading across system processes. Therefore, early detection and intervention is vital for preventing accidents in time-critical scenarios. Evidently, legacy human-machine interfaces especially those prevalent in nuclear power plant and aviation industry, are complex, elaborate and require continual supervision of operator situational aware-ness. In this paper, a novel approach towards achieving non-intrusive real-time monitoring of operator situational awareness is framed as a supervised learning task suitable for applying deep recurrent neural network (RNN) models. Results, include performance evaluation of few typical RNN Long-Short Term Memory (LSTM) based time-series forecast models for predicting expected operator n-step ahead response pattern given current human-machine interface state as inputs. © 2019 IEEE.

The paper dwells upon implementation of the algorithm for computing spline-Fourier transform into programmable logic devices. Discrete fast Fourier transform is commonly used in telecommunication facilities (area), both as the processes of mobile phones and devices for compressing audio signals and video images for transmission over telecommunication networks. Therefore, in this paper the results of the processor realization of the discrete fast Fourier transform are presented. The method for detecting radar signals has been developed, which allows an increase in the signal-to-noise ratio by 60% compared with the known methods.
