A neural control strategy for nonlinear processes with time-variant time-delay is proposed in this paper. In this strategy, a dynamic neural network based nonlinear Smith predictor is constructed to compensate for the effect of time-delay of a class of nonlinear processes. An on-line optimizing controller is illustrated based on the neural Smith predictor. It is known that the performance of the Smith predictor may be deteriorated if the time-delay of the process changes with time. In order to improve the performance of the Smith predictor, a time-delay adaptation mechanism is introduced into the control structure to track the variation of the time-delay. The simulation, comparing with the classical Smith predictive control, on a continuous-stirred-tank-reactor (CSTR), where the time-delay of the manipulating flow changes with time, is used for the test.

The estimation for the nonlinear dynamic system with time-varying input time-delay is an important issue for system identification. In order to estimate the dynamics of the process, a dynamic neural network with external recurrent structure is applied to the modelling procedure. In the case where time-delay is time varying, a useful way is to develop on-line time-delay estimation mechanisms to track the input time-delay variation. In this paper, two schemes respectively called direct as well as indirect time-delay estimators are proposed. Finally, two numerical examples are illustrated for the test of the proposed methods.

As to product design itself has quite complexity and many domain influence factors are integrated in concurrent design (CD), conflict phenomena exists in any process of carrying out CD. Conflict elimination is an important key to carrying out CD effectively. Conflict usually relates to many members in multi-function group of CD. Negotiation that is a process of multiple iteration and repeated alternation is utilized in CD conflict elimination. Many objects and constraints are considered in the process of negotiation and it is very hard to have no problem in the process of calculation, reasoning, evaluation and decision-making. As to the updating error is a tracing process and a lot of work done before is needed to repeat, efficiency of conflict elimination is very low. In this paper, a method of conflict elimination of product CD based on blackboard model is put forward. Design conflict producing, system and mechanism of conflict elimination based on blackboard model are analyzed and described. It takes gear CD conflict elimination as an example to illustrate the concrete application of the method and system.

A novel control technique of brushless dc motors is proposed in this paper. The design of the fuzzy controller combined with a gray predictor is used to improve the response of a brushless dc motor. Using a gray predictor to predict the speed errors of the motor and then a compensated energy will be generated which can be used in adjustment of the control energy of the system. Simulation results show that the performance of the control energy and the motor speed is ameliorated.

In this paper, a new fuzzy reaching law for discrete-time variable structure control systems is developed. Based on this law, a discrete controller and its control algorithm that satisfies the Lyapunov stability can be easily derived and developed. Compare with the traditional reaching law, the new fuzzy reaching law we proposed has much better performance. The steady state error caused by delay of sampling of discrete system could be greatly reduced.

This paper presents an unsupervised range image segmentation based on Kohonen neural network. At first, the derivative and partial derivative of each point are calculated and the normal in each points is gotten. With the character vectors including normal and range value, self-organization map is introduced to cluster. The normal analysis is used to eliminate over-segmentation and the last result is gotten. This method avoid selecting original seeds and uses fewer samples, moreover computes rapidly. The experiment shows the better performance.

This paper proposes a factorization method that reconstructs camera motion and scene shape based on the matching of multiple images under the condition that the camera captures a perspective view. Starting from the affine projection camera model, the projection depth is iteratively estimated until the measurement matrix has rank 4. Then, the obtained measurement matrix is factorized to restore the three-dimensional information of the scene in the projection space. This approach eliminates noise sensitive processes, such as the calculation of the fundamental matrix, that are required in the factorization for the conventional perspective projection image, and a stable reconstruction is realized. Furthermore, the metric constraint in the conventional affine model is extended, and the metric constraint in the perspective projection condition is derived. It is shown that the reconstruction in Euclidean space is realized if the internal parameters of the camera are given.
