This work investigates the problem of efficiently learning discriminative low-dimensional representations of multi-class large-scale image objects. We propose a generic deep learning approach by taking advantages of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), sparse dictionary learning, and orthogonal projections. CNN is not only powerful on feature extraction, but also robust to spatial variance and changes. Sparse dictionary learning is well known for disentangling nonlinear underlying discriminative factors in data. The orthogonal projection is a notable efficient tool to project multi-class data onto low dimensional discriminative subspace. The proposed procedure can be summarized as follows. At first, a CNN is employed to extract high-dimensional (HD) preliminary convolutional features. Secondly, to avoid the high computational cost of direct sparse coding on HD CNN features, we present to learn sparse representation (SR) in an orthogonal projected space over a task-driven sparsifying dictionary. We then exploit the discriminative projection on SR. The whole learning process is treated as a joint optimization problem of trace quotient maximization, which involves the CNN parameters, the orthogonal projection on CNN features, the dictionary and the discriminative projection on sparse codes. The related cost function is well defined on product manifold of the Stiefel manifold, the Oblique manifold, and the Grassmann manifold. It is optimized via a geometrical stochastic gradient descent algorithm. Finally, the quality of dictionary and projections learned by the proposed approach is further investigated in terms of image classification. The experimental results show that the approach can achieve a strongly competitive performance with state-of-the-art image classification methods. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Prior to the deep learning era, shape was commonly used to describe the objects. Nowadays, state-of-the-art (SOTA) algorithms in medical imaging are predominantly diverging from computer vision, where voxel grids, meshes, point clouds, and implicit surface models are used. This is seen from numerous shape-related publications in premier vision conferences as well as the growing popularity of ShapeNet (about 51,300 models) and Princeton ModelNet (127,915 models). For the medical domain, we present a large collection of anatomical shapes (e.g., bones, organs, vessels) and 3D models of surgical instrument, called MedShapeNet, created to facilitate the translation of data-driven vision algorithms to medical applications and to adapt SOTA vision algorithms to medical problems. As a unique feature, we directly model the majority of shapes on the imaging data of real patients. As of today, MedShapeNet includes 23 datasets with more than 100,000 shapes that are paired with annotations (ground truth). Our data is freely accessible via a web interface and a Python application programming interface (API) and can be used for discriminative, reconstructive, and variational benchmarks as well as various applications in virtual, augmented, or mixed reality, and 3D printing. Exemplary, we present use cases in the fields of classification of brain tumors, skull reconstructions, multi-class anatomy completion, education, and 3D printing. Inter-data-center asynchronous middleware replication between active-active databases has become essential for achieving continuous business availability. Near real-time replication latency is expected despite intermittent peaks in transaction volumes. Database tables are divided for replication across multiple parallel replication consistency groups;each having a maximum throughput capacity, but doing so can break transaction integrity. It is often not known which tables can be updated by a common transaction. Independent replication also requires balancing resource utilization and latency objectives. Our work provides a method to optimize replication latencies, while minimizing transaction splits among a minimum of parallel replication consistency groups. We present a two-staged approach: a log-based workload discovery and analysis and a history-based database partitioning. The experimental results from a real banking batch workload and a benchmark OLTP workload demonstrate the effectiveness of our solution even for partitioning 1000s of database tables for very large workloads. © 2014 Springer International Publishing Switzerland.

We proposed a virtual device system to maximize user experience without real portable consumer electronic device before purchasing the product. The virtual device system can execute the entire software stack which is exactly same one to be used for the real products. The virtual device system enables the user to learn quickly how to operate the product by providing a mechanism which executes automatically the major features of portable consumer electronic devices without user interaction. Finally, we verified the functionality of the proposed virtual device system with Linux-powered mobile device. © 2012 AICIT.

In this paper, we focus on the problem of community detection on TSina: the most popular microblogging network in China. By characterizing the structure and content of microgroup (community) on TSina in detail, we reveal that different from ordinary social networks, the degree assortativity coefficients are negative on most microgroups. In addition, we find that users from the same rnicrogroup likely exhibit some similar attributes (e.g., sharing many followers, tags and topics). Inspired by these new findings, we propose a united method for microgroup detection without losing the information of link structure and user attribute. First, the link direction is converted to the weight by giving higher value to the more surprising link, while attribute similarity between two users is measured by the Jaccard coefficient of common features like followers, tags, and topics. Then, above two factors are uniformly converted to the edge weight of a newly generated network. Finally, many frequently used community detection algorithms that support weighted network would be employed. Extensive experiments on real social networks show that the factors of link structure and user attribute play almost equally important roles in microgroup detection on TSina.. Our newly proposed method significantly outperforms the traditional methods with average accuracy being improved by 25%, and the number of unrecognized users decreasing by about 75%.

PageRank has been widely used in ranking retrieval results on the web, finding the top influential papers in citation networks or detecting valuable users in online social networks. However, in practice, it is usually hard to obtain a complete structure of any above networks to rank nodes. Thus, some researchers have begun to explore how to get estimated ranks efficiently without acquiring the whole network. They have proposed some approximating methods, however, it is difficult to determine which method is the best one or which is suitable to a certain application. In this case, we set experiments in small-world and scale-free generated networks to certify the feasibility and characteristics of four approximating methods. We also use eleven real networks to mention different optimal conditions for these methods. We find the DIGRank method performs better than other local estimation methods in almost every given subgraph. Besides, Mean field approach method tends to perform well in networks that have low average shortest path length, small amount of nodes with the same low indegree, or weak community structure. Finally, we apply the most versatile method DIGRank to Sina micro-blog website to precisely classify users in a group as elites, grassroots or mummy users. © 2011 IEEE.

Large-scale object-oriented（OO） software systems have recently been found to share global network characteristics such as small world and scale free,which go beyond the scope of traditional software measurement and assessment *** measure the complexity at various levels of granularity,namely graph,class（and object） and source code,we propose a hierarchical set of metrics in terms of coupling and cohesion-the most important characteristics of software,and analyze a sample of 12 open-source OO software systems to empirically validate the *** results of the correlations between cross-level metrics indicate that the graph measures of our set complement traditional software metrics well from the viewpoint of network thinking,and provide more effective information about fault-prone classes in practice.
