This paper describes a new tunnel ventilation control system called MPVC (Model-based Predictive Ventilation Control). The new system uses real-time traffic and ventilation simulators and it is possible to reduce at least 20 % or more of electricity consumption compared to previous tunnel ventilation control systems. This new control software has been already installed in 7 tunnels including the 1st and 2nd longest tunnels in Japan.

We proposed a virtual device system to maximize user experience without real portable consumer electronic device before purchasing the product. The virtual device system can execute the entire software stack which is exactly same one to be used for the real products. The virtual device system enables the user to learn quickly how to operate the product by providing a mechanism which executes automatically the major features of portable consumer electronic devices without user interaction. Finally, we verified the functionality of the proposed virtual device system with Linux-powered mobile device.

This paper presents our work for the Realtime Adhoc Task of TREC 2011 Microblog Track. Microblog texts like tweets are generally characterized by the inclusion of a large proportion of irregular expressions, such as ill- formed words, which can lead to significant mismatch between query terms and tweets. In addition. Twitter queries are distinguished from Web queries with many unique characteristics, one of which reflects the clearly distinct temporal aspects of Twitter search behavior. In this study, we deal with the first problem by normalizing tweet texts and the second by capturing the temporal characteristics of a topic. We divided topics into two categories: time-sensitive and time-insensitive. For the time-sensitive ones, we introduce a decay factor to adjust the relevance score of results according to the expected date of the topical event to happen, and then re-rank the search results. Experiments demonstrate that our methods are significantly better than baseline and outperform the medium of all runs.

As an emerging portable service platform, OSGi is now taking a more and more important role in Ubiquitous Computing environment. As a module management framework, OSGi provides the functions of dynamic loading and unloading software modules at runtime. But its use is limited because it is centralized and single programming language supported. In this paper we present LIR-OSGi, an extended framework of OSGi, which is designed to add the distribution and programming language independence to OSGi. Meanwhile it is easy to use for developers because of the transparence of service invocation and automation of distribution. Not like OSGi which can be applied only on the Java platform, LIR-OSGi makes programs which may be written in different programming languages be able to call each other transparently so that it can be applied in many different platforms such as DotNet Framework and so on. This brings much convenience to the program development in a distributed and heterogeneous environment. © 2011 IEEE.

Three-dimensional fuzzy logic controller (3-D FLC) is a new FLC which was developed recently for spatially-distributed systems. In this paper, we present a novel scaling factors online tuning method for 3-D FLC, which can improve the performance of the system without models. The simultaneous perturbation stochastic approximation (SPSA) optimization algorithm is used to adjust the scaling factors by using spatial performance criterion, which can offer a tradeoff between simplicity of implementation, speed of convergence and quality of the final solutions. A catalytic packed-bed reactor is presented as an example to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The simulation results show that the system has a better performance and higher disturbance rejection ability by using proposed method. © 2011 IEEE.

COQ is an interactive theorem proving tool. The paper abstractly describes the feature of COQ, the architecture and working modes of PLC program with the example of typical PLC. It also introduces the first-order logic syntax and semantics of Intuitionistic Logic. It briefly introduces the main Gallina language syntax elements, the corresponding use methods and main theorem proving tactic on COQ. The work has modeled kernel data type and basic statements and and the denotational semantics of PLC program with Gallina. It has given the correctness proof of PLC program based on theorem proving, i.e. based on semantics function the relationship of configuration between the before codes execution and the after is proved. The main purpose is to prove whether a PLC program satisfies certain nature within a scan period.

Collaborative filtering (CF) techniques have achieved widespread success in E-commerce nowadays. The tremendous growth of the number of customers and products in recent years poses some key challenges for recommender systems in which high quality recommendations are required and more recommendations per second for millions of customers and products need to be performed. Thus, the improvement of scalability and efficiency of collaborative filtering (CF) algorithms become increasingly important and difficult. In this paper, we developed and implemented a scaling-up item-based collaborative filtering algorithm on MapReduce, by splitting the three most costly computations in the proposed algorithm into four Map-Reduce phases, each of which can be independently executed on different nodes in parallel. We also proposed efficient partition strategies not only to enable the parallel computation in each Map-Reduce phase but also to maximize data locality to minimize the communication cost. Experimental results effectively showed the good performance in scalability and efficiency of the item-based CF algorithm on a Hadoop cluster.

software systems represent one of the most complex man-made systems. In this paper, we analyze the evolution of Object-Oriented (OO) software using complex network theory from a multi-granularity perspective. First, the software net works are constructed for a multi-version software system at different levels of granularity. Then, some parameters used in complex network theory are introduced to study the topological characteristics of these software networks. By investigating the parameters' values in consecutive software networks, we have a better understanding about software evolution. A case study on an open source OO project, Azureus, is conducted as an example to illustrate our approach. It uncovers some underlying dynamic characteristics of OO systems. These results provide a different dimension to our understanding of software system dynamics and also are very useful for the design and development of OO software systems.

Machine learning algorithms, which have been considered as robust methods in different computational fields, assume that the training and test data are drawn from the same distribution. This assumption may be violated in many real world applications like bank failure prediction because training and test data may come from different time periods or domains. An efficient novel algorithm known as Fuzzy Refinement (FR) is proposed in this paper to solve this problem and improve the performance. The algorithm utilizes the fuzzy system and similarity concept to modify the instances' labels in target domain which was initially predicted by shift-unaware Fuzzy Neural Network (FNN) proposed by [1]. The experiments are performed using bank failure financial data of United States to evaluate the algorithm performance. The results address a significant improvement in the predictive accuracy of FNN due to applying the proposed algorithm.
