systems development needs to reconcile views from many roles, such as domain experts and engineers. A particular challenge is the multitude of models for requirements and quality, which can get time consuming and error prone to trace, change, and verify. In this paper we introduce an ontology-supported component-based systems engineering approach for the production automation domain that describes explicitly stakeholder quality requirements and traces design decisions to generate new system and software versions that implement these requirements. The ontology approach is expected to allow continuous modeling and extracting model views for all roles involved to a) improve the quality assurance of system requirements;b) support more explicit feedback on the quality of intermediate models during systems development;and c) provide better auditing capabilities of the systems development process. Based on an industry case study, we describe the ontology concept of the system, the development process, and how software quality can be measured and improved. Copyright 2008 ACM.

Ambiguity is a major problem of software errors because much of the requirements specification is written in a natural language format. Therefore, it is hard to identify consistencies because this format is too ambiguous for specification purposes. This paper aims to propose a method for handling requirement specification documents which have a similar content to each other through a hierarchical text classification. The method consists of two main processes of classification: heavy classification and light classification. The heavy classification is to classify the requirement specification documents having similar content together. Meanwhile, light classification is to elaborate specification requirement documents by using the Euclidean Distance. Finally, slimming down the number of requirements specification through hierarchical text classification classifying may yield a specification which is easier to understand. That means the proposed method is more effective for reducing and handling in the requirements specification. © 2008 IEEE.

Target tracking and localization are important applications in camera sensor networks. Although coverage is a very important research topic in wireless sensor networks, and the coverage problem for target detection has been intensively studied, few considers the coverage problem from the perspective of target localization. In this paper, we investigate the coverage problem from the perspective of target localization for camera sensor networks. We first propose a novel localization-oriented sensing model based on the perspective projection of camera. Then, we propose a new notion of Localization-oriented coverage (L-coverage for short). We assume that all camera sensors make the measurements independent of other in the field, and these camera sensors can cooperate to make an accurate estimation for the location of the target. In addition, the relationships among L-coverage, 2-coverage, and the density of camera sensors are also discussed in this paper. The obtained results show that our model can be effectively deployed in many practical scenarios. © 2008 IEEE.

While in the past years free-software has gained some acceptance in the domain of medical applications it has been mainly focused on quite typical IT-infrastructure cases -may that be billing systems,data warehousing,databases and content management systems a second area where free software has made prominent entrance has been in the area of imaging and high-volume data *** the area of medical devices,with rare exceptions,free-software is still quite underrepresented -in part due to acceptance but in part also due to plain technical ***/Linux,real-time and embedded variants and many free-software projected have made there way into medical applications -but is Free-software ready to cover the wide area of demands on medical platforms and there applications? The demands of medical platforms stretch more or less the entire range of computational capabilities: * battery powered -robust against power-failures * reliable in rough environment * compliant with safety regulations * robust and secure software platforms * standalone,networked all the way to clusters * extensibility for specialized hardware and software * from head-less to multithread graphical user-interfaces And all this for devices that sometimes only will be built in a few 10s or hundred devices? What advantages could free-software have here -what limitations are there -where do we still need to do *** software is not the answer to all problems in medical computing (or in any other area) -but it has a plethora of innovative and powerful solutions to *** will outline some of them along with some outstanding medical applications that have been built on free-software components.

The paper will present a new intensive-computing environment for *** environment is different from the conventional high-performance platforms which are very expensive and isn't fit for normal education, especially from the poor area. It adopts Cell system to build low level cluster, and the operating system for the cluster is gentoo linux OS,and the Cell SDK is used to build the development environment, and MPI adopted by the environment is Open-MPI, which is an open source MPI-2 implementation. Cell system is a new kind of heterogeneous multi-core system. There are nine cores in one processor. The node of the cluster is built by the ps3 which adopted the cell as the processor Gentoo lirrux, Cell SDK and Open-MPI are released under GPL, which can be gotten easily by users. The environment has many characters, such as low cost, high performance, easy building and maintenance, easy learning and development, and so on.

Under a Phase II SBIR contract with AMRDEC, Impact Technologies, LLC has developed an integrated solid propellant life predication analysis tool, mLIFE". This tool not only integrates the many diverse methods of energetic life prediction, such as thermal stress-induced creep and linear damage accumulation, but adds additional models using finite element analysis, nonlinear damage accumulation, chemical process effects, and probability theory. To manage this wide variety of methods and models, the software is designed in a tiered modular format that allows updated modules (lifing models, fusion algorithms, data management libraries, etc.) to be easily integrated and/or fused with existing predictions along with computational distribution. Other features include an intuitive graphical interface that combines tools for managing data (both inputs and outputs), visualization, and report generation. In addition, this technology is applicable to private sector single-shot devices, such as vehicle airbags, that must work even after long periods of time under varied environmental conditions. Other critical single-shot devices, such as ejection seats, emergency shutoff valves, and torpedo squibs, will also benefit from these improvements in the modeling and management of data and predictions. © 2008 by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Inc.

In order to make the operating system in education easier to understand and practice,we advise to introduce a kind of nanokernel to the beginner because the concept of nanokernel was to reduce the kernel to basic schedular,interrupt and timer,and let others reside in user space in forms of normal *** as a special nanokernel is a part of OCERA(Open Components for Embedded Real-time Application) project in Europe.A feature of XtratuM is that it can realize executing several operating system in the same *** a nanokernel with less than 5000 lines source codes,XtratuM has its prospects in resolving complex requirements in embedded developing *** is worth a try to introduce XtratuM as an instructional operating system.
