The development of lightweight and ultrathin materials is quite important for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding of myriads of electrical devices, especially in the telecommunication and the aerospace industry. In this work, a novel ultrathin Laser Induced Graphene (LIG) film with total thickness of only 0.05 mm is synthesized, fabricated and tested for the EMI shielding application. The proposed LIG film, based on the customized conductive material, is fabricated using a pulsed CO2 laser system. It is demonstrated that the fabricated LIG sample exhibits more than 10 dB total shielding effectiveness (SET) in the entire X band. The ratio of SET/ thickness(mm) for the fabricated LIG film is found to be greater than 200, which is phenomenally high as compared to the state of the art EMI shielding materials. Further, the electrical conductivity of the LIG film is measured and this data is utilized to perform simulation using the numerical EM simulator;the CST Microwave Studio for the SET performances. A close matching is observed between the measured and the simulated SE data. The proposed synthesis scheme appears to be quite promising for design and development of lightweight EMI shielding materials, which can have wide range of applications in industry. © 2023 IEEE.

Background: Cesarean section (CS) rates in Indonesia are rapidly increasing for both sociocultural and medical reasons. However, there is limited understanding of the role that social media plays in influencing preferences regarding mode of birth (vaginal or CS). Social media provides a platform for users to seek and exchange information, including information on the mode of birth, which may help unpack social influences on health behavior. Objective: This study aims to explore how CS is portrayed on Instagram in Indonesia. Methods: We downloaded public Instagram posts from Indonesia containing CS hashtags and extracted their attributes (image, caption, hashtags, and objects and texts within images). Posts were divided into 2 periods—before COVID-19 and during COVID-19—to examine changes in CS portrayal during the pandemic. We used a mixed methods approach to analysis using text mining, descriptive statistics, and qualitative content analysis. Results: A total of 9978 posts were analyzed quantitatively, and 720 (7.22%) posts were sampled and analyzed qualitatively. The use of text (527/5913, 8.91% vs 242/4065, 5.95%;P<.001) and advertisement materials (411/5913, 6.95% vs 83/4065, 2.04%;P<.001) increased during the COVID-19 pandemic compared to before the pandemic, indicating growth of information sharing on CS over time. Posts with CS hashtags primarily promoted herbal medicine for faster recovery and services for choosing auspicious childbirth dates, encouraging elective CS. Some private health facilities offered discounts on CS for special events such as Mother’s Day and promoted techniques such as enhanced recovery after CS for comfortable, painless birth, and faster recovery after CS. Background: To our knowledge, no previous study has examined the inter-relationship between frailty, dysglycaemia, and mortality in frail older adults with type 2 diabetes who are on insulin therapy. We used continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) to profile this patient population and determine the prognostic value of CGM metrics. We hypothesised that incremental frailty was associated with increased hypoglycaemia or time below range (TBR). Methods: HARE was a multicentre, prospective, observational cohort study with mortality hazard analysis carried out in four hospitals in Hong Kong. Eligible participants were community-living adults aged 70 years and older;had had type 2 diabetes for 5 years or more;were on insulin therapy;were frail;and were not hospitalised at the time of frailty assessment and CGM recording. Glucose control was characterised according to the Advanced Technologies and Treatments for Diabetes 2019 international consensus clinical targets. Frailty index was computed, and comprehensive frailty assessments and targeted serum metabolic profiling were performed. The Jonckheere-Terpstra test for trend was used to analyse frailty index tertiles and variables. Inter-relationships between CGM metrics and frailty, glycated haemoglobin A_1c (HbA_1c), and serum albumin were characterised using adjusted regression models. Survival analysis and Cox proportional hazard modelling were performed. Findings: Between July 25, 2018, and Sept 27, 2019, 225 participants were recruited, 222 of whom had CGMs fitted and 215 of whom had analysable CGM data (190 were frail, 25 were not frail). Incremental frailty was associated with older age, greater HbA_1c, worse renal function, and history of stroke. Eight of 11 CGM metrics were significantly associated with frailty. Decreased time in range (TIR;glucose concentration 3·9–10·0 mmol/L) and increased time above range (TAR) metrics were strongly correlated with increased frailty and hyperglycaemia,

With advancements in the science of detection and attribution studies, the influence of climate change over many events has now been quantified. Because of the rapidly increasing temperatures, vulnerable populations (adults older than 65 years, and children younger than one year of age) were exposed to 3·7 billion more heatwave days in 2021 than annually in 1986–2005 (indicator 1.1.2), and heat-related deaths increased by 68% between 2000–04 and 2017–21 (indicator 1.1.5), a death toll that was significantly exacerbated by the confluence of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the local cooling and overall health benefits of urban greenspaces, only 277 (27%) of 1038 global urban centres were at least moderately green in 2021 (indicator 2.2.3), and the number of households with air conditioning increased by 66% from 2000 to 2020, a maladaptive response that worsens the energy crisis and further increases urban heat, air pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions. BackgroundItem 9 of the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) queries about thoughts of death and self-harm, but not suicidality. Although it is sometimes used to assess suicide risk, most positive responses are not associated with suicidality. The PHQ-8, which omits Item 9, is thus increasingly used in research. We assessed equivalency of total score correlations and the diagnostic accuracy to detect major depression of the PHQ-8 and *** conducted an individual patient data meta-analysis. We fit bivariate random-effects models to assess diagnostic ***16 742 participants (2097 major depression cases) from 54 studies were included. The correlation between PHQ-8 and PHQ-9 scores was 0.996 (95% confidence interval 0.996 to 0.996). The standard cutoff score of 10 for the PHQ-9 maximized sensitivity + specificity for the PHQ-8 among studies that used a semi-structured diagnostic interview reference standard (N = 27). At cutoff 10, the PHQ-8 was less sensitive by 0.02 (−0.06 to 0.00) and more specific by 0.01 (0.00 to 0.01) among those studies (N = 27), with similar results for studies that used other types of interviews (N = 27). For all 54 primary studies combined, across all cutoffs, the PHQ-8 was less sensitive than the PHQ-9 by 0.00 to 0.05 (0.03 at cutoff 10), and specificity was within 0.01 for all cutoffs (0.00 to 0.01).ConclusionsPHQ-8 and PHQ-9 total scores were similar. Sensitivity may be minimally reduced with the PHQ-8, but specificity is similar.
