The challenges posed by nonlinearities in industrial systems necessitate innovative techniques that outperform the limitations of traditional methods such as principal component analysis (PCA). While Kernel Principal Component Analysis (KPCA) offers a robust solution to handle nonlinear data, its computational requirements are a significant issue, especially for large-sized datasets. In this work, we propose a novel technique, namely, reduced kernel principal component analysis-based spectral clustering (RKPCA SpC ), to monitor and detect faults in the benchmark Tennessee Eastman process. The suggested approach addresses the complexity associated with KPCA by reducing data size during the model training phase. This reduction involves retaining only the principal components, preserving informative features, and selecting pertinent samples without compromising the original data's content. The efficacy of the proposed method is evaluated through key performance metrics, including false alarm rate (FAR), missed detection rate (MDR), detection time delay (DTD), and computation time (CT). Additionally, gained execution time (GET), gained storage space (GSP), and loss function (LF) are considered, providing a comprehensive assessment of the developed paradigms' effectiveness. The results demonstrate the promising capabilities of our proposed scheme.

The goal of this cross-linguistic study is to analyze the speech of children in the age group of 8-12 years and automatic classification of children's emotions from various speech data in Russian and Tamil languages. A standardized approach for the collection of speech (spontaneous and acting speech - emotional words, phrases, and meaningless texts) was used. Two emotional child speech corpora include the emotional speech of 95 Russian children and 40 Indian children were created. Annotation of the emotional speech was carried out in four categories "joy - neutral - sadness – anger" by two speech specialists of the same nationality of the child. The set of 2505 labeled audio files of Russian children and 418 labeled audio files of Tamil children were used. The SVM classifier shows slightly better results in Russian language, and the MLP classifier in Tamil. Inter-Cultural approach (mixed dataset of Russian and Indian speech) revealed that the accuracy of recognition of all emotions remains higher. In Cross-Cultural approach, on samples of Tamil speech, anger state is recognized better, and in samples of Russian speech – sad state. In traditional audio captioning methods, a model is usually trained in a fully supervised manner using a human-annotated dataset containing audio-text pairs and then evaluated on the test set from the same dataset. Such methods have two limitations. First, these methods are often data-hungry and require time-consuming and expensive human annotations to obtain audio-text pairs. Second, these models often suffer from performance degradation in cross-domain scenarios, i.e., when the input audio comes from a different domain than the training set, and this issue has received little attention. To address these issues, we propose a new zero-shot method for audio captioning. Our method is built on the contrastive language-audio pre-training (CLAP) model. During training, the model reconstructs the ground-truth caption using the CLAP text encoder. In the inference stage, the model generates text descriptions from the CLAP audio embeddings of given audio inputs. To enhance the ability of the model in transitioning from text-to-text generation to audio-to-text generation, we propose to use the mixed-augmentations-based soft prompt to learn more robust latent representations, leveraging instance replacement and embedding augmentation. Additionally, we introduce the retrieval-based acoustic-aware hard prompt to improve the cross-domain performance of the model by employing the domain-agnostic label information of sound events. Extensive experiments on AudioCaps and Clotho benchmarks show the effectiveness of our proposed method, which outperforms other zero-shot audio captioning approaches for in-domain scenarios and outperforms the compared methods for cross-domain scenarios, underscoring the generalization ability of our method.

The modern energy landscape is undergoing a seismic change from traditional, finite energy sources and toward cleaner, renewable alternatives. The restrictions faced by traditional sources, which are not only finite but increasingly shrink in the face of burgeoning global energy demands driven by population increase and industrial expansion, are driving this change. Although promising, renewable energy poses complications, particularly the reliance on climatic conditions. An important aspect of addressing these difficulties is effective energy management within distribution systems, which includes forecasting and optimization phases. This research focuses on forecasting using an advanced machine learning (ML) approach. Accurately forecasting renewable energy generation over time is critical for improving energy management. This technique is evaluated using a variety of performance indicators, including Mean Error (ME), Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), and the Coefficient of Determination (R 2 ). Empirical studies support the method's usefulness, demonstrating noteworthy performance with low error rates.

With expanding requests for effectiveness and product quality and advancing integration of au-tomatic control systems in high-cost and safety-critical processes, Fault Detection and Diagnosis (FDD) in photo-voltaic (PV) have gained a very important role. However, PV systems can be subject to failures. These faults may include the distinctive system components such as PV modules, converters/inverters, connection lines, which can lead to a reduce in the operation performance. Thus, FDD is one of the key technologies to improve the efficiency of grid-connected PV performances. The most well-known data-driven based FDD methods are Deep Learning (DL)-basd approaches. The main advantages of DL algorithms, are that they can learn automatically high- level features from PV data in a high-order. This paper therefore presents the appli-cation of DL-based tools for fault diagnosis purposes and provides a comparative study using PV systems. These techniques include Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), Long-Short Term Memory (LSTM) and BIdirectional Long-Short Term Memory (BILSTM). The implemented FDD based frameworks are validated using an emulated Grid-Connected PV (GCPV) system. The results show that the DL-based diagnosis methods are able to detect and diagnose faults under different operating modes. © 2022 IEEE.

Target detection is a fundamental task of hyperspectral imaging where constrained energy minimization (CEM) has been widely used for subpixel target detection techniques. Due to its effectiveness, CEM has been generalized to various versions, such as kernel CEM (KCEM), kernel target-constrained interference-minimized filter (KTCIMF), ensemble cascaded CEM (ECEM), and hierarchical CEM (HCEM). Unfortunately, these generalizations overlooked the key design rationale behind CEM. This article revisits CEM for hyperspectral target detection (HTD) and proves how and why it works mathematically. Specifically, several new CEM generalizations are derived and particularly noteworthy. By including spatial information in an iterative process, KCEM, ECEM, and HCEM can be generalized to iterative KCEM (IKCEM), iterative KTCIMF (IKTCIMF), iterative ECEM (IECEM), and iterative HCEM (IHCEM). Also, by utilizing an iterative random training sampling (IRTS) to generate the desired target signature to be detected, these algorithms are further generalized to IRTS KCEM (IRTS-KCEM), IRTS ECEM (IRTS-ECEM), and IRTS HCEM (IRTS-HCEM). A comprehensive analysis along with comparative study on these generalizations is conducted through extensive experiments to demonstrate the effectiveness of IKCEM, IHCEM, and IECEM. © 1980-2012 IEEE.

Camouflaged objects, exhibiting high similarity with their surroundings, pose a substantial challenge for both humans and machines to detect when concealed within the environment. Existing methods for camouflage object detection (COD) struggle in accurately segmenting the overall structure of camouflaged objects. To address this issue, we propose a novel boundary-guided fusion of multi-level features network (BGFM-Net) for COD. In contrast to existing boundary-guided methods, we pay more attention to addressing the significant imbalance in the pixel quantities between boundary and background features, allowing for a more comprehensive representation of boundary features. BGFM-Net primarily consists of a multi-scale aggregation module (MSAM), a boundary-guided feature module (BFM), and a cross-Level fusion module (CLFM). MSAM effectively integrates contextual semantics at different scales, achieving a powerful and efficient feature representation. BFM adeptly combines edge features while constraining interference from background features, guiding the learning of camouflaged object boundary representation. CLFM integrates multi-level features for predicting camouflaged objects while adaptively adjusting channel weights to emphasize important channels and diminish the impact of less relevant channels for the task. Extensive experiments on three benchmark camouflage datasets demonstrate that our BGFM-Net outperforms other state-of-the-art COD models.

Exploiting the shared information among tasks to significantly improve the sparse reconstruction performance lays the essence of multi-task compressive sensing. In this paper, a novel generative model of multi-task compressive sensing with Dirichlet process (DP) priors is proposed and the sharing mechanisms among tasks are revealed, yielding a principled means of inferring the clusters as well as performing compressive sensing inversion simultaneously. The spike-and-slab priors are first used to model the group sparsity among tasks within the identical cluster, and the DP priors are then introduced to automatically perform clustering for the tasks. The expectation propagation method is finally carried out to take the inference for posterior distribution approximation. The superiority of the proposed method over state-of-the-art algorithms is demonstrated by using experimental results on both numerical data and real data sets. © 2022 IEEE.

We present a factor graph formulation and particle-based sum-product algorithm for robust localization and tracking in multipath-prone environments. The proposed sequential algorithm jointly estimates the mobile agent’s position together with a time-varying number of multipath components (MPCs). The MPCs are represented by "delay biases" corresponding to the offset between line-of-sight (LOS) component delay and the respective delays of all detectable MPCs. The delay biases of the MPCs capture the geometric features of the propagation environment with respect to the mobile agent. Therefore, they can provide position-related information contained in the MPCs without explicitly building a map of the environment. We demonstrate that the position-related information enables the algorithm to provide high-accuracy position estimates even in fully obstructed line-of-sight (OLOS) situations. Using simulated and real measurements in different scenarios we demonstrate that the proposed algorithm significantly outperforms state-of-the-art multipath-aided tracking algorithms and show that the performance of our algorithm constantly attains the posterior Cramér-Rao lower bound (P-CRLB). Furthermore, we demonstrate the implicit capability of the proposed method to identify unreliable measurements and, thus, to mitigate lost tracks. © 2023, CC BY.

Code-Switching (CS) Text-To-speech (TTS) models have gained attention due to the increasing prevalence of multilingual communication. However, existing models struggle to meet the growing demand for personalized CS TTS, particularly in Zero-Shot (ZS) scenarios where the model should generate speech for an unseen speaker from reference speech. In this paper, we propose ZCS-CDiff, a zero-shot code-switching TTS system with the Conformer-based diffusion model. We disentangle speech features and use the diffusion model to precisely model these disentangled attributes, resulting in high-quality ZS CS speech. Additionally, we introduce a Conformer-based WaveNet as the denoising network within the diffusion model to further improve the accuracy of modeling different attributes. We also designed a speaker-assist module to help the model better handle speaker information extracted from the reference speech, resulting in CS speech with higher speaker similarity. Experimental results and ablation studies demonstrate that the ZS CS speech generated by ZCS-CDiff has good speech naturalness, intelligibility, and speaker similarity while confirming the effectiveness of our design choices.
