Ferulic acid alleviates the reduction of beef myofibrillar protein digestibility mediated by protein oxidation: Insight from peptide release

This study investigated the protective effect of ferulic acid (FA) on the digestibility of oxidized beef myofibrillar protein (MP). MP were treated with varying concentrations of FA (20， 40， and 80 μmol/g protein) and then exposed to oxidation. The results showed that FA inhibited carbonyl in a dose-dependent manner (P < 0.05). Fluorescence spectroscopy and molecular docking studies revealed FA was bonded to MP via hydrophobic interactions and hydrogen bonds. SDS-PAGE and TEM analysis indicated that FA mitigated the aggregation of oxidized MP. Peptidomic analysis showed FA protected 34.24% peptides recover from oxidation loss， and theses recovered peptide were mainly distributed in hydrophobic regions and lysine sites. In vitro digestion showed FA remarkably improved digestibility of oxidized MP (P < 0.05)， with 80 μmol/g protein FA mitigating 67.85% loss in digestibility. Overall， FA effectively preserved the release of peptides by inhibiting hydrophobic aggregation and oxidation of lysine residues， thereby alleviating the decrease in digestibility of oxidized MP.

Cu_(2)Te-based materials are a type of superionic conductor belonging to the class of phonon-liquid elec-tron-crystal materials and have achieved high ZT values by doping and ***,it is easy to form copper vacancies in Cu_(2)Te which leads to an excessive carrier concentration and then results in a low Seebeck ***,controlling copper ion migration and optimizing carrier concen-tration is essential to improve the thermoelectric performance of Cu_(2)*** paper reports high-performance Cu_(2)TeeAg_(2)Te composite with high application value in the low-middle temperature re-gion,which is achieved by fine tuning the carrier concentration using Fe addition and non-stoichiometric Te,as well as controlling the thermal conductivity of composite.A high ZT of~1.2 is obtained in AgCu_(0.97)Fe_(0.03)Te_(0.96)at a low temperature of 573 ***,the phase transition mechanism of Cu_(2)TeeAg_(2)Te and its effect on the thermoelectric transport performance are revealed that go beyond nanostructuring and single-doping,which provides a strong theoretical basis for research and perfor-mance improvement of thermoelectric materials in this system.

CT-NeRF: Incremental Optimization of Neural Radiance Field and Camera Poses with Complex Trajectory

Neural radiance field (NeRF) has achieved impressive results in high-quality 3D scene reconstruction. However, NeRF heavily relies on precise camera poses. While recent works like BARF have introduced camera pose optimization within NeRF, their applicability is limited to simple trajectory scenes. Existing methods struggle while tackling complex trajectories involving large rotations. To address this limitation, we propose CT-NeRF, an incremental reconstruction and optimization pipeline using only RGB images without pose and depth input. In this pipeline, we first propose a local-global bundle adjustment under a pose graph connecting neighboring frames to enforce the consistency between poses to escape the local minima caused by only pose consistency with the scene structure. Further, we instantiate the consistency between poses as a reprojection error constraint resulting from pixel-level correspondences between input image pairs. Through the incremental reconstruction, CT-NeRF enables the recovery of both camera poses and scene structure and is capable of handling scenes with complex trajectories. We evaluate the performance of CT-NeRF on two real-world datasets, NeRF-Buster and Free-Dataset, which feature complex trajectories. Results show CT-NeRF outperforms existing methods in novel view synthesis and pose estimation accuracy. © 1991-2012 IEEE.

Enhanced methane production from waste activated sludge by potassium ferrate combined with thermal hydrolysis pretreatment

Anaerobic digestion of waste activated sludge (WAS) was one of the directions of sludge treatment, but how to effectively improve the production of methane as a resource product of anaerobic digestion of sludge still needs further research. The study examined how the combination of potassium ferrate (PF) and thermal hydrolysis (TH) pretreatment affected methane production from sludge. The results demonstrated a positive synergistic effect on methane production with PF-TH pretreatment. Specifically, by employing a 0.05 g/g TSS (total suspended solids) PF in conjunction with TH at 80 °C for 30 min, the methane yield increased from 170.66 ± 0.92 to 232.73 ± 2.21 mL/g VSS (volatile suspended solids). The co-pretreatment of PF and TH has been substantiated by mechanism studies to effectively enhance the disintegration and biodegradability of sludge. Additionally, the variation of microbial community revealed an enrichment of active microorganisms associated with anaerobic digestion after treated with PF + TH, resulting in a total abundance increase from 11.87 to 20.45% in the PF + TH group. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Aiming to address issues such as insensitivity to fault characteristics, inadequate feature extraction, and susceptibility to external environmental interference in traditional bearing fault diagnosis methods, an improved approach to rolling bearing fault diagnosis based on ConvNext V2 is proposed. Firstly, leveraging the advantages of wavelet time-frequency analysis, one-dimensional vibration signals collected from the experimental setup are transformed into two-dimensional images containing abundant time-frequency information using continuous wavelet transform. Secondly, the next-generation convolutional neural network ConvNext V2 is introduced as the underlying network for rolling bearing fault diagnosis, and the Efficient Channel Attention (ECA) network is incorporated to enhance the feature extraction capability of the Block module in the base network. Subsequently, the wavelet time-frequency images are used as feature map inputs to the improved ConvNext V2 network for training, enabling the diagnosis and recognition of rolling bearing faults. Finally, experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method exhibits good fault recognition accuracy and stability in laboratory data, with high generalization capability, thereby offering a new solution for rolling bearing fault diagnosis. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Adaptive Power Regulation control for Floating Wind Turbines with Guaranteed Transient Performance

Floating offshore wind turbines (FOWTs) hold significant potential for developing wind energy in deep-sea areas. However, they are prone to additional motions, heavy workloads, and undesirable fluctuations under combined wind-wave loads. To tackle these issues, this paper presents a novel adaptive blade pitch control strategy with guaranteed transient performance for FOWTs operating in above-rated wind speed regions. This strategy effectively suppresses platform pitch motion to enhance system stability while maintaining the power output at its rated value. Specifically, this method initiates by defining a filtered regulation error to solve the non-affine nature of its model. An adaptive blade pitch controller is subsequently proposed, integrating an online learning approximator to cope with the unknown dynamics caused by unmeasurable external environmental inputs and model uncertainties. To further mitigate approximation errors, a nonlinear robust control law with adaptive gains is employed, enhancing the robustness and adaptive capabilities of the controller. Superior to the traditional adaptive controllers, a significant advantage of this strategy is its ability to quantify and ensure regulatory performance within predefined constraints during both transient and steady-state stages, thereby achieving high-performance control in power regulation. Finally, simulation studies are conducted using the OpenFAST software to show the capability of the presented blade pitch controller, which guarantees stable power generation with guaranteed transient performance. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Comprehensive analyses on thermal runaway mechanisms are critically vital to achieve the safe lithium-sulfur(Li-S)*** reactions between dissolved higher-order polysulfides and Li metal were found to be the origins for the thermal runaway of 1.0 Ah cycled Li-S pouch cells.16-cycle pouch cell indicates high safety,heating from 30 to 300 ℃ without thermal runaway,while 16-cycle pouch cell with additional electrolyte undergoes severe thermal runaway at 147.9 ℃,demonstrating the key roles of the electrolyte on the thermal safety of *** the contrary,thermal runaway does not occur for 45-cycle pouch cell despite the addition of the *** is found that the higher-order polysulfides(Li_(2)S_(x) ≥ 6)are discovered in 16-cycle electrolyte while the sulfur species in 45-cycle electrolyte are Li_(2)S_(x) ≤ *** addition,strong exothermic reactions are discovered between cycled Li and dissolved higher-order polysulfide(Li_(2)S_(6) and Li_(2)S_(8))at 153.0 ℃,driving the thermal runaway of cycled Li-S pouch *** work uncovers the potential safety risks of Li-S batteries and negative roles of the polysulfide shuttle for Li-S batteries from the safety view.
