With the rapid development of Industry 4.0, resource-constrained industrial devices are often unable to meet different demands of compute-intensive and latency-sensitive tasks in modern factories. To cope with this challenge, offloading tasks from industrial devices to edge servers or a cloud computing center to obtain lower delay is a good solution. Most of the traditional task offloading approaches rely on centralized decision-making systems, which may not be able to efficiently cope with device heterogeneity and the specific needs of different tasks in industrial environments. To address this problem, this study proposes a more comprehensive edge computing network model for industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). By integrating an action masking technique, we establish a Markov decision model with a constrained action space. Additionally, we propose a task offloading framework based on the Multi-Agent Advantage Actor Critic (MAA2C) algorithm, adopting the Centralized Training Decentralized Execution (CTDE) architecture, aiming to achieve task offloading decision-making in modern factories and reduce the overall system delay. Validated through numerical simulation experiments, our proposed framework not only performs well in reducing system delay but also shows good adaptability in different industrial environments.

This paper proposes a new self-triggered model predictive control (MPC) strategy for switched systems under dwell time (DT) constraints. The strategy combines the advantages of self-triggering mechanism and switching control, thereby having a good performance in saving computing resources and adapting to complex engineering practices. To guarantee the feasibility of the switched MPC strategy under the self-triggering framework, the concept of feasible truncated admissible switching sequence (f-TAS) is proposed to solve the constraint violation problem caused by the switching behavior and guarantee the flexible index. Besides, the self-triggering mechanism is developed to overcome the divergence of the Lyapunov function by using the self-triggered relaxation, thus ensuring the sub-optimal performance. Simulation example shows that the algorithm effectively saves the computing resources while ensuring the feasibility and sub-optimal performance.

Redundancy actuation systems are widely applied in the fields of aviation and aerospace. This paper establishes a nonlinear dynamic model of the dual-redundancy actuation system driven by electro-mechanical actuators, involving control constraints and unmatched bounded perturbation. We next focus on the reset control of the dual-redundancy actuation system and raise a robust control problem, which can be transformed into a specified optimal controller design problem theoretically. To acquire the optimal controller, we propose a modified robust adaptive dynamic programming approach. Using multiple critic neural networks, a simultaneous approximation of the value function and the controller are achieved, and all the weight parameters can be estimated through an optimization framework, which is feasible guaranteed via well-defined basis functions. Finally, a numerical example from the dual-redundancy actuation system is presented to illustrate the derived controller.

Clean air actions （CAAs） in China have been linked to considerable benefits in public ***,whether the beneficial effects of CAAs are equally distributed geographically is *** high-resolution maps of the distributions of major air pollutants (fine particulate matter[PM2.5]and ozone[O3]) and population,we aimed to track spatiotemporal changes in health impacts from,and geographic inequality embedded in,the reduced exposures to PM2.5and O3from 2013 to *** used a method established by the Global Burden of Diseases *** analyzing the changes in loss of life expectancy（LLE） attributable to PM2.5and O3,we calculated the gain of life expectancy （GLE） to quantify the health benefits of the air-quality ***,we assessed the geographic inequality embedded in the GLE using the Gini index （GI）.Based on risk assessments of PM2.5and O3,during the first stage of CAAs（2013 to 2017）,the mean GLE was 1.87 *** of the sum of the GLE was disproportionally distributed in about one quarter of the population exposed （GI 0.44）.During the second stage of CAAs（2017 to 2020）,the mean GLE increased to 3.94 months and geographic inequality decreased （GI 0.18）.According to our assessments,CAAs were enhanced,from the first to second stages,in terms of not only preventing premature mortality but also ameliorating health *** enhancements were related to increased sensitivity to the health effects of air pollution and synergic control of PM2.5and *** findings will contribute to optimizing future CAAs.

Data quality assessment for studies investigating microplastics and nanoplastics in food products: Are current data reliable?

Data on the occurrence of microplastics and nanoplastics(MP/NPs)in foods have been used to assess the human health risk caused by the consumption of MP/*** reliability of the data,however,remains unclear because of the lack of international standards for the analysis of MP/NPs in ***,the data quality needs to be assessed for accurate health risk *** study developed 10 criteria applicable to the quality assessment of data on MP/NPs in ***,the reliability of 71 data records(69 of them only focused on MPs)was assessed by assigning a score of 2(reliable without restrictions),1(reliable but with restrictions),or 0(unreliable)on each *** results showed that only three data records scored 2 or 1 on all criteria,and six data records scored 0 on as many as six criteria.A total of 58 data records did not include information on positive controls,and 12 data records did not conduct the polymer identification,which could result in the overestimation or underestimation of MP/*** results also indicated that the data quality of unprocessed foods was more reliable than that of processed ***,we proposed a quality assurance and quality control protocol to investigate MP/NPs in ***,the characteristics of MP/NPs used in toxicological studies and those existing in foods showed a remarkable discrepancy,causing the uncertainty of health risk ***,both the estimated exposure of MP/NPs and the claimed potential health risks should be treated with caution.

Cationic hydrogels have received great attention to control eutrophication and recycle *** this study,a type of La(OH)_(3) loaded magnetic MAPTAC-based cationic hydrogel(La(OH)_(3)@MMCH)was developed as a potential adsorbent for enhanced phosphate removal from aqueous ***(OH)_(3)@MMCH exhibited high adsorption capacity of 105.72±5.99 mg P/g,and reached equilibrium within 2 ***(OH)_(3)@MMCH could perform effectively in a wide pH range from 3.0 to 9.0 and in the presence of coexisting ions(including SO_(4)^(2-),Cl^(-),NO_(3)^(-),HCO_(3)^(-),SiO_(4)^(4-) and HA).The adsorption-desorption experiment indicated that La(OH)_(3)@MMCH could be easily regenerated by using NaOH-NaCl as the desorption agent,and 73.3%adsorption capacity remained after five ***,La(OH)_(3)@MMCH was employed to treat surface water with phosphate concentration of 1.90 mg/L and showed great removal efficiency of 95.21%.Actually,MMCH showed high surface charge density of 34.38-59.38 meq/kg in the pH range from 3.0 to 11.0 and great swelling ratio of 3014.57%within 24 h,indicating that MMCH could produce the enhanced Donnan membrane effect to pre-permeate ***,the bifunctional structure of La(OH)_(3)@MMCH enabled it to capture phosphate through electrostatic attraction and ligand *** the results prove that La(OH)_(3)@MMCH is a promising adsorbent for eutrophication control and phosphate recovery.

Short-term load forecasting of buildings plays a key role in demand management, however, when dealing with massive data, the prevalent practice of training and testing the system as a whole overlooks pattern variations inside data and potentially limits predictive performance. To address this issue, this paper proposes an ensemble deep random vector functional link (edRVFL) model that combines adaptive ensemble clustering and dynamic weighting strategy for load forecasting of an industrial building. Firstly, the adaptive ensemble clustering that combines ordering points to identify the clustering structure and K nearest neighbor is employed to determine the electricity load usage patterns. Subsequently, the improved particle swarm optimization algorithm is applied to adjust the weights of load curves in different typical day scenarios. Finally, a dynamic weighting strategy is designed to dynamically assign model weights to two clusters, where one matches the type of predicted load pattern for the day being forecasted and another for the cluster of the previous day. The experiment in a real building verifies the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, which has higher prediction accuracy than other comparison algorithms including one-week interval and different ensemble clustering. © 2024 IEEE.

Herein,we use an oxidation flow reactor,Gothenburg:Potential Aerosol Mass(Go:PAM)reactor,to investigate the secondary organic aerosol(SOA)formation from wheat straw *** burning emissions are exposed to high concentrations of hydroxyl radicals(OH)to simulate processes equivalent to atmospheric oxidation of 0-2.55 *** volatile organic compounds(VOCs)were investigated,and particles were measured before and after the Go:PAM *** influence of water content(i.e.5%and 11%)in wheat straw was also *** burning stages,the flaming stage,and non-flaming stages,were *** particle emission factors(EFs)at a water content of 11%(~3.89 g/kg-fuel)are significantly higher than those at a water content of 5%(~2.26 g/kg-fuel)during the flaming ***,the water content showed no significant influence at the non-flaming *** of aromatics at a non-flaming stage(321.8±46.2 mg/kg-fuel)are larger than that at a flaming stage(130.9±37.1 mg/kg-fuel).The OA enhancement ratios increased with the increase in OH exposure at first and decreased with the additional increment of OH *** maximum OA enhancement ratio is~12 during the non-flaming stages,which is much higher than~1.7 during the flaming *** mass spectrum of the primary wheat burning organic aerosols closely resembles that of resolved biomass burning organic aerosols(BBOA)based on measurements in ambient *** results show that large gap(0%-90%)still remains to estimate biomass burning SOA if only the oxidation of VOCs were included.

Application of functional near-infrared spectroscopy(fNIRS) for studying the influence of capsaicin stimulation on brain perception

Spicy taste have been utilized in the food industry as appetizers， stomachics， and beverages and in the health sector to alleviate high cholesterol and hypertension. However， an understanding of neural mechanisms and cognitive processes associated with spicy diets remains limited due to the lack of instruments that directly monitoring the brain’s reaction to spicy sensations. This study aimed to examine the neural responses of participants to oral capsaicin solutions through functional near-infrared spectroscopy and reveal distinct neural activation patterns associated with spiciness induction and relief phases. Results showed that the perception of spiciness is a dynamic process， and significant differences in sensory intensity and emotion were observed between the phases. The prefrontal regions of the brain were activated during spicy flavor perception and presented clear lateralization effects. Further spatial localization results indicated that the orbitofrontal， dorsolateral prefrontal， and ventral lateral prefrontal cortices were the main causes of difference in activation among the phases. In addition， correlational analyses indicated that spicy flavor perception activated cortical areas related to emotion and reward processing. Overall， this research enhances our understanding of the neural mechanisms underlying addiction to spicy food and may be useful in the development of food on the basis of consumers’ preferences and behavioral responses.
