Analysis and modeling of the thermal errors of carriage system of a precision machine tool driven by linear motor

The drive system with linear motor of precision machine tools can generate a lot of heat and part of it is conducted to machine tools structures. Therefore, it can lead to the thermal deformation of the structures and hence seriously influences the processing accuracy. In this paper, the finite element model (FEM) considering convection of the planes, the pipelines of the cooler system and thermal resistance is adopted to investigate the thermal distribution and thermal deformation of the carriage system of precision machine tools driven by linear motor. In addition, position-independent thermal errors models of the carriage system are proposed for the main heat source, the primary part of the linear motor, of the carriage system travels with the worktable;the feature genetic algorithm is used to procure the thermal key points of the carriage due to the great number of candidate points. At last, the experiment is conducted on the Y-axis carriage system of precision three-axis machine tool, which demonstrates the two geometric errors δx and Εz caused by the thermal deformation are significantly tiny. The mathematical models of three thermal errors are obtained through the temperatures of the key thermal points because the interferometer cannot measure the roll error Εy. Also, the comparison between the measurements and the thermal errors models indicates that the position-independent thermal models are capable of satisfactorily predicting the magnitude of the other three geometric errors of the carriage system caused by the thermal deformation and also being used in further study of compensation system.

Recently with the development of high-speed railways, the traditional train communication network (TCN) can barely meet the increasing demand of realtime and high data rate transmission requirements. In this study, a solution based on switched Ethernet is firstly proposed with reconstructed TCN topology and communication protocol stacks. Then, virtual link and flow shaping were introduced in order to realize a strictly real-time communication. By using the network calculus theory, the presented strategies were proven to admit a maximum delay constraint and simulation results also verify our analysis. Finally, a detailed analysis of the vehicle layer and backbone layer are given, where the results show that traditional TCN could be replaced by TCN based on switched Ethernet. © 2014 WIT Press.

Modern safety-critical systems(SCS) are becoming increasingly complicated to be analyzed and assessed, due to system scale and the functions they provide. These pose a huge challenge for the development of SCS. A number of studies have been done for system design and safety analysis of SCS but there is still no complete tool chain to support the whole development and analysis process. In this paper, we present a platform which develops a whole set of the tool chain to complete system design and safety analysis. The platform makes the modeling and safety assessment of high-speed railway operation control system easier by using failure logic modeling method. It also develops an algorithm which can automatically convert failure logic model to fault tree and minimal cut sets. These results will help system designers to gain more knowledge on how to maintain system safety.

This paper presents a new control strategy for three-level neutral point clamped (NPC) pulse width modulated (PWM) rectifier without power source voltage sensors. The relationship between instantaneous power and voltage vectors is derived mathematically. Virtual flux is estimated and used to calculate the phase of the power source voltage and instantaneous power. On these bases, a direct power control (DPC) scheme for three-level PWM rectifier is presented. An optimal switching table is established, vector switching scheme and balance strategy for the neutral point potential are discussed. Variable switching frequency and dynamic process of the startup are also analyzed. Experimental results have verified the theoretical approach and the three-level PWM rectifier with proposed DPC based on virtual flux exhibits several advantages, such as simple algorithm, low costs and excellent dynamic performance. © 2014 IEEE.

The CTCS-3 system adopted in high-speed railway is a safety-critical system. The security can be developed by establishing the simulation and testing platform to verify and evaluate the corresponding technical program. This paper proposed a test method based on fault injection technology to simulate some fault scenes in CTCS-3. In view of the fault-injection characteristics of distributed system, the trackside equipment testing unit is designed. We also introduced the design process of fault injection controller, fault injector (trackside equipment simulator), data collector and data analyzer. Finally, some examples are given to demonstrate that the fault injection can improve the completeness and reliability of the CTCS-3 trackside equipment function. © Sila Science. All rights reserved.

The Fully Automated Operation(FAO)system poses a challenge for urban rail transit system in China as it is difficult to determine fault property and process of revenue service,and it is lacking of operational experiences of new system and constraints of traditional *** this reason,the article attempts to explore the nature of changing mechanism happened in FAO system including human and organization as well as devices,which can be considered as a whole system called socio-technical *** order to control the risk of FAO system to vary in a range which can be controlled,we propose a set of dynamic archetypes of human and organizational factors to trace the evolution of system’s risk,and to seek the negative factors resulting in high risk in FAO *** failure models based on system dynamics will reveal the key dynamic characteristics of FAO system which can be managed in an effective *** archetypes also can help to predict the human and organizational risks of FAO system,to monitor the drifting safety boundary,and to analyze the boot cause in accident.

Communication Based Train control(CBTC)system is a kind of advanced train automatic control system that integrates radio communication and automation control *** happens frequently in CBTC train ground communication system,which may result in communication interrupt and long *** this paper,we propose a new handoff decision algorithm based on improved Grey Verhulst model for the Time Division-Long Term Evolution(TD-LTE)based train-ground communication *** proposed handoff decision algorithm can be used under free space and leaky coaxial cable equipped *** Grey Verhulst model is used to predict the Reference Signal Receiving Power(RSRP)values from two Radio Remote Units(RRU).Compared with traditional Verhulst model,improved Grey Verhulst model can optimize parameters to eliminate the inherent errors in data sequence *** handoff decision action is performed based on the predicted RSRP *** results show that the proposed handoff decision algorithm can decrease pingpong handoff and improve the handoff delay compared with the traditional A3 event based scheme in LTE systems.
