In this paper a neural network-based approximate dynamic programming method, namely direct heuristic dynamic programming (direct HDP), is applied to power system stability control. Direct HDP is a learning and approximation based approach to address nonlinear system control under uncertainty. In the present paper, real-time system responses provided by wide area measurement system (WAMS) are used to construct such controllers which are uniquely tailored for the problems under consideration. In addition, the controller learning objective is formulated as a reward function that reflects global characteristics of the power system low frequency oscillation under the consideration of coupling effect among system components. The contribution of the paper includes a convergence proof of the direct HDP algorithm using an LQR framework, as well as case study to illustrate the proposed learning control algorithm. The case study aims at providing a new solution to a difficult large scale system coordination problem where the China Southern Power Grid is used for. © 2014 American Automatic control Council.

The present article describes the spring end process technology. The spring end plasma cutting has been reasonably chosen as the Robotic system (RS) most time saving and production cost value technology. The mentioned above method is RS implemented and has been used at the modern spring manufacturing enterprise over the period of two years. In the course of the industrial use the operation problems were identified. The quality and output rate threat was investigated. To eliminate the negative influences from the process of the RS operation and increase the output and production quality by the Robotics operating system (demonstrated further as a chart) enhancement, the goals were defined and the solution system was developed.

To investigate the genetic basis of type 2 diabetes (T2D) to high resolution, the GoT2D and T2D-GENES consortia catalogued variation from whole-genome sequencing of 2,657 European individuals and exome sequencing of 12,940 individuals of multiple ancestries. Over 27M SNPs, indels, and structural variants were identified, including 99% of low-frequency (minor allele frequency [MAF] 0.1-5%) non-coding variants in the whole-genome sequenced individuals and 99.7% of low-frequency coding variants in the whole-exome sequenced individuals. Each variant was tested for association with T2D in the sequenced individuals, and, to increase power, most were tested in larger numbers of individuals (>80% of low-frequency coding variants in ~82 K Europeans via the exome chip, and ~90% of low-frequency non-coding variants in ~44 K Europeans via genotype imputation). The variants, genotypes, and association statistics from these analyses provide the largest reference to date of human genetic information relevant to T2D, for use in activities such as T2D-focused genotype imputation, functional characterization of variants or genes, and other novel analyses to detect associations between sequence variation and T2D.

Three-dimensional surface topography simulation of ultra- precision milling based on point cloud

A three-dimensional surface topography simulation algorithm for ultra-precision milling was proposed. In order to illustrate the formation of surface topography, blade point clouds which were consisted by a serial of blade points according to calculating the instantaneous locations of static discrete blade points in machining process, was introduced as the research object. Meanwhile the servo bounding boxes which were constructed by meshing simulation surface were utilized to selecting sampling points. The comparison between simulation results and measurement pictures shows that the algorithm can clearly illustrate the distribution of scallop in different directions, as well as the influence on the topography caused by initial cutter phrase. Hence, it provides a method to the research the surface topography composition in the range of ultra-precision milling machining.

Post-processing algorithm based on total differential method for multi-axis machine tools with arbitrary configuration

Due to existing post-processing algorithm, which is only suitable for a specific type of multi-axis NC machine tool, a generalized method that fits arbitrary configuration is presented. It derives a general kinematic model from multi-body kinematics, and describes the spatial relationship between adjacent CL-data as total differential. The complicated reverse kinematics problem is transformed into solving linear equations. The initial machine control data is solved with the combination of numerical method and total differential method to ensure solving accuracy of subsequent CL-data. In comparison with conventional methods, experiments on a specific machine tool show that the total differential method has attributes of being better generalized, more accurate, and with faster computing speed. © 2012 Journal of Mechanical engineering.

It is noteworthy that bipolar block emergencies of the ±800kV UHVDC system in China happened twice within two years caused by lightning strokes. To recur and investigate the mechanism of such emergencies, lightning transient performance and relative electromagnetic interference (EMI) in the UHVDC system are investigated. Wide-band circuit models of major UHVDC equipments are set for calculation, while the lightning stroke shielding failure process and transmission corona loss are also considered during the simulation. By combining the fault records in the converter station and simulation results , possible ways of EMI into the secondary system produced by primary circuit lightning transient are analyzed. The results would help explain the cause of such bipolar block emergency and provide reference for protection methods of lightning caused EMI in UHVDC system. © 2012 IEEE.
