The power system is experiencing a higher penetration of renewable energy generations(REGs).The short circuit ratio(SCR)and the grid impedance ratio(GIR)are two indices to quantify the system strength of the power system with *** this paper,the critical short circuit ratio(CSCR)is defined as the corresponding SCR when the system voltage is in the critical stable *** static voltage stability analysis,the mathematical expression of the CSCR considering the impact of GIR is *** maximum value of CSCR is adopted as the critical value to distinguish the weak power *** on the static equivalent circuit analysis,it is proved that the CSCR is still effective to evaluate critical system strength considering the interactive impact among ***,we find that the GIR can be neglected and the SCR can be used individually to evaluate the system strength when SCR>2 or GIR>*** correctness and rationality of the CSCR and its critical value are validated on ADPSS.

Dynamic Interaction and Stability Analysis of grid-following Converter Integrated Into Weak grid

The grid-connected converter with grid-following control (GCC-GFL) for renewable energy sources has a risk of instability when integrated into the weak grid. This paper aims to investigate the dynamic interactions and stability characteristics of the GCC-GFL system. From a control system perspective, the mechanism of small-signal instability in the system is revealed through dynamic interaction analysis between the GCC-GFL and the weak grid. Meanwhile, a novel stability evaluation index is proposed based on the real and imaginary parts of the equivalent loop gain in a multi-loop control system. On this basis, the dominant loop of the control system leading to system instability is identified. Furthermore, quantitative analyses are conducted to investigate the stability region of the GCC-GFL, considering the influence of AC grid strength, steady-state operating points, and converter control parameters. Finally, the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed methods are verified by the impedance analysis method, the time-domain simulations, and the experiments, respectively.

Failure mechanism of metallized film capacitors under DC field superimposed AC harmonic:From equipment to material

This study focuses on the degradation behaviour of metallised film capacitors,which are the essential components for the stability of converter valves in flexible ultra-high voltage direct current(HVDC)transmission *** systematic experimentation,we investigated the failure mechanisms of MFCs under HVDC fields with superimposed harmonics,considering both equipment and material *** experiments subjected capacitors to 500 h of ageing under two conditions:a DC/AC-superimposed field with a constant DC component of 290 kV/mm and an AC ripple rate varying from 12%to 28%,and a control group aged solely under a DC *** findings indicate that capacitors aged under the DC/AC-superimposed field exhibited shorter lifespans and more significant capacitance loss than those aged under only the DC *** difference in performance is primarily attributed to the distinct electrode loss behaviours observed under each ageing condition,which are key factors in the capacitors'capacitance ***,the biaxially oriented polypropylene films in the DC-aged samples showed more severe deterioration,characterised by more noticeable molecular chain scission and reduced breakdown strength,compared to those aged under the DC/AC superimposed *** difference is partly due to the moderate temperature increase caused by harmonics,which benefits the aggregation structure,and partly to the reduced molecular structure damage from the AC field.

Shape optimisation of basin insulator for DC gas insulated switchgear/gas insulated transmission lines based on artificial bee colony algorithm

The surface charge accumulation on the basin insulator is a particular problem in high-voltage direct current(HVDC)gas insulated switchgears(GIS)and gas insulated trans-mission lines(GIL),which restricts the development and application of extra/ultra high-voltage(EHV/UHV)*** surface charge distribution and anti-flashover performance are closely related to the insulator *** obtain the optimal basin insulator,a shape optimisation model based on artificial bee colony algorithm was established,and the minimisation objective functions based on capacitive(initial)electric field distribution and resistive(steady-state)electric field distribution were respectively *** optimisation results of the two objective functions were calculated,and the electric field and charge distribution on the surface of the insulator before and after optimisation were evaluated and compared using the simulation *** results indicated that the optimisation based on the capacitive electric field can significantly inhibit the surface charge accumulation,and the optimised insulator can significantly reduce the surface normal electric field and make the distribution of the tangential electric field more uniform,and the maximum tangential electric field can be reduced by 10%;the optimisation based on resistive electric field can achieve similar results,but requires more computational *** on the results,the‘anti-charge’basin insulator structure suitable for the DC field was given.

Accumulation characteristics of precipitation static on rotating wind turbine blades and its influence on the lightning attachment characteristics

The linear velocity at the tip of large wind turbine blades can reach 100 m/s,generating static electricity through friction with airborne ***,the accumulation characteristics of precipitation static on the blade surface and its impact on the lightning attachment characteristics are rarely *** authors constructed a platform for measuring charges on rotating wind turbine blades and employed the electrostatic probe method to obtain the accumulation characteristics of surface charges under different environmental *** experimental results show that positive charges accumu-late on the blade surfaces,peaking at 0.69μC/m2 under experimental *** charge density is positively correlated with airborne particle concentration and blade rotation speed,while it is negatively correlated with relative air ***,the authors developed a model of the electric field distribution on wind turbine blades considering the effects of precipitation *** results indicate that the elec-trostatic field induced by precipitation static weakens the field strength in the vicinity of receptors,reaching a minimum of only 38%of the original strength,thereby increasing the probability of lightning protection *** findings provide an effective supple-ment to the lightning attachment mechanism of rotating wind turbine blades.

Synchronization Stability Analysis of PLL-based grid-connected VSC System by Voltage Space Vectors

This paper focuses on synchronization stability analysis of the power system,in which power electronics are synchronized by the phase-locked loop(PLL).It provides new insight into the synchronization stability of power electronics from the voltage *** synchronization stability analysis based on space vector is carried out by establishing a simplified model of the grid-connected voltage source converter(VSC)*** complex mathematical calculation,the existence criterion of equilibrium points and the criterion of transient instability dominated by the unstable equilibrium point(UEP)are derived,*** the proposed method,synchronization stability can be determined by the voltage space vectors,which are more observable in potential engineering *** the end of this study,the steps of the synchronization stability determination by voltage space vectors are summarized,and the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed method are demonstrated by numerical simulations performed on the PSCAD/EMTDC platform.

Experimental Study on Energy Storage Characteristics of Sintered Ore Particle Packed Beds

The particle packed bed energy storage system has advantages such as low costs and wide temperature ranges,which can be combined with solar thermal power generation systems to solve the inherent volatility and discontinuity of renewable *** new materials with low costs and excellent storage performances is one of the eternal research hotspots in the field of energy *** paper innovatively uses sintered ore particles as energy storage material and studies the effect of particle size on the airflow resistance characteristics,energy storage characteristics,and thermocline evolution characteristics of the packed bed through thermal energy storage *** results indicate that for the particles in the macro scale,the smaller the particle,the lower the absolute permeability of the bed and the greater the airflow *** packed bed with smaller particles has a larger specific surface area,larger bulk mass,and smaller bed ***,the packed beds with smaller particles have better thermocline characteristics,less irreversible loss,and can achieve higher thermal efficiency and higher exergy efficiency in the heat storage *** cycle thermal efficiency in packed beds with 25-40 mm,16-25 mm,and 10-16 mm particles is 53.58%,56.27%,and 57.60%,respectively,and the cycle exergy efficiency is 61.81%,69.25%,and 74.13%,***,this paper also studies the effect of discharging airflow rates on thermal storage *** experimental results indicate that suitable discharging strategies should be selected based on different heat demands.

Renewable energy dominated future power grids require enhanced system flexibility,in particular,activating the participation from various distributed en-ergy resources(DERs).A coordinated two-stage flexibility trading framework for distribution system with mi-crogrids(MGs)is proposed in this *** day-ahead stage,a peer to peer(P2P)trading mechanism and the associate leasing strategy of shared energy storage system are performed to solve the power variations caused by the wide spread integration of renewable resources,where asymmetric Nash bargaining is used to realize the fair revenue allocation according to the contribution of each MG in P2P *** intra-day stage,given the power imbalances from unexpected uncertainties,MGs exploit the adjustability of the DERs in responding to rapid flexibility requirements issued by distribution system *** particular,the average consensus based de-centralized Newton method with super linear convergence is utilized to meet the requirements of flexibility while maintaining the information *** feasibility,effectiveness and equity of the proposed trading strategies are verified through various simulation studies.
