Fracture failure analysis of Fiber Reinforced Composites T-joints

This paper discusses staple FRP T-joints on the project based on the classical beam theory of Euler-Bernoulli and a theoretical model of energy release rate is set up to discuss fracture propagation of composite T-joints. The paper is further analysis on fracture failure affected by composite pane depth and joints chamfer dimension parameters and so on. The conclusion benefit for extensive use of projects is also summarized.

Electron Irradiation Effects of SrZrO 3 Ceramic for Radioactive Strontium Immobilization

The perovskite structure is widely considered ideal host phases for Sr immobilization. To investigate the radiation tolerance on ceramic waste forms, the as-prepared SrZrO 3 ceramics were irradiated by external electron beam. The results indicated that the electron irradiation had different influence on the surface and inside of the SrZrO 3 ceramic. The no-crystallizing can be produced on the surface of SrZrO 3 ceramic, and electron beam heating promoted grain growth in the inside of SrZrO 3 .

Preparation and Aqueous Durability of Sr Incorporation into Rutile TiO_2

TiO2 was employed as the waste form for disposal of simulated nuclide Sr. Preparation of Sr bearing rutile was explored under different sintering temperatures and Sr contents. The optimal treatment temperature was confirmed as 1300 ℃ for the incorporation of SrO in rutile Ti O2. Perovskite type Sr TiO3 was prepared as the resultant product. The limited containment capacity of SrO in rutile was speculated to be 56.5wt%. As the SrO content increases, the as-synthesized sample exhibits more porosity because Sr TiO3 phase demonstrates higher density than rutile and SrO. The 28 day normalized leaching rate（LRi） of Sr and Ti will decrease congruously as the SrO incorporation increases. The LRSr value is lower than 0.1g·m^-2·d^-1, which is about 3 orders of magnitude higher than the LR（Ti） value.

In recent years, erasure codes have become the de facto standard for data protection of large scale distributed cloud storage systems at the cost of an affordable storage overhead. While traditional erasure coding schemes, such as Reed-Solomon codes, suffer from high reconstruction cost and I/Os. The recent past has seen a plethora of efforts to optimize the tradeoff between the reconstruction cost, I/Os and storage overhead. Quietly different from all prior studies, in this paper, our erasure coding technology makes the first attempt to take advantage of the unequal failure rates across the disks/nodes to optimize the reconstruction performance and system reliability. Specifically, our proposed technology, the Unequal Failure Protection based Local Reconstruction Code (UFP-LRC) divides the data blocks into several unequal-sized groups with local parities, assigning the data blocks stored on more failure-prone disks/nodes into the smaller-sized group, so as to provide unequal failure protection for each group. In this way, by exploiting the nonuniform local parity degrees, the proposed UFP-LRC enables the data blocks that are stored on more failure-prone disks/nodes to tolerate a greater number of failures while suffer from less repair cost than others, leading to a substantial improvement of overall repair performance and reliability for cloud storage system. We perform numerical analysis and build a prototype storage system to verify our approach. The analytical results show that the UFPLRC technique gradually outperforms LRC along the increase of failure rate ratio. Also, extensive experiments show that, when compared to LRC, UFP-LRC is able to achieve a 10% to 13% improvement in throughput, and a 8% to 12% reduction in decoding latency, while retaining a comparable overall reliability.

Ab initio calculation is performed to investigate the uraniumsolubility in different sites of Gd2Zr2O7 pyrochlore. The Gd2Zr2O7 maintains its pyrochlore structure at low uraniumdopant levels, and the lattice constants of Gd2(Zr2?yUy)O7 and (Gd2?yUy)Zr2O7 are generally expressed as being linearly related to the uranium content y. Uranium is found to be a preferable substitute for the B-site gadolinium atoms in cation-disordered Gd2Zr2O7 (where gadolinium and zirconium atoms are swapped) over the A-site gadolinium atoms in ordered Gd2Zr2O7 due to the lower total energy of (Gd2?yZry)(Zr2?yUy)O7.

This paper presents a new algorithm to directly extract 3D road boundaries from mobile laser scanning (MLS) point clouds. The algorithm includes two stages: 1) non-ground point removal by a voxel-based elevation filter, and 2) 3D road surface extraction by curb-line detection based on energy minimization and graph cuts. The proposed algorithm was tested on a dataset acquired by a RIEGL VMX-450 MLS system. The results fully demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed algorithm.

With rapid development of light detection and ranging (LiDAR) technologies, three dimensional point clouds increasingly become a new approach to sense the world. In our previous work, light poles were detected from mobile LiDAR point clouds without using their locations. In this paper, we improve our previous work by considering location information between two neighboring light poles to reduce false alarm. In the proposed method, the potential light poles are first detected by the extended Hough Forest Framework. Then, a gaussian distribution is exploited to model the distance between two light poles by using locations of those detected light poles. Finally, inaccurately detected light poles are removed by considering the distance between two adjacent objects. We evaluate our proposed method on mobile LiDAR point clouds acquired by RIEGL VMX-450 system. On the basis of the experimental test instances, we demonstrate improved accuracy on light pole detection.

After more than half a century of intense efforts, the development of exoskeleton has seen major advances, and several remarkable achievements have been made. Reviews of developing history of exoskeleton are presented, both in active and passive categories. Major models are introduced, and typical technologies are commented on. Difficulties in control algorithm, driver system, power source, and man-machine interface are discussed. Current researching routes and major developing methods are mapped and critically analyzed, and in the process, some key problems are revealed. First, the exoskeleton is totally different from biped robot, and relative studies based on the robot technologies are considerably incorrect. Second, biomechanical studies are only used to track the motion of the human body, the interaction between human and machines are seldom studied. Third, the traditional developing ways which focused on servo-controlling have inborn deficiency from making portable systems. Research attention should be shifted to the human side of the coupling system, and the human ability to learn and adapt should play a more significant role in the control algorithms Having summarized the major difficulties, possible future works are discussed. It is argued that, since a distinct boundary cannot be drawn in such strong-coupling human-exoskeleton system, the more complex the control system gets, the more difficult it is for the user to learn to use. It is suggested that the exoskeleton should be treated as a simple wearable tool, and downgrading its automatic level may be a change toward a brighter research outlook. This effort at simplification is definitely not easy, as it necessitates theoretical supports from fields such as biomechanics, ergonomics, and bionics.
