Poly(glycerol-dodecanoate)(PGD)has aroused increasing attention in biomedical engineering for its degradability,shape memory and rubber-like mechanical properties,giving it potential to fabricate intelligent implants for soft *** degradation is important for biodegradable implants and is affected by various *** mechanical load has been shown to play an important role in regulating polymer degradation in *** in-depth investigation of PGD degradation under mechanical load is essential for adjusting its degradation behavior after implantation,further guiding to regulate degradation behavior of soft tissue implants made by *** vitro degradation of PGD under different compressive and tensile load has proceeded in this study and describes the relationships by empirical *** on the equations,a continuum damage model is designed to simulate surface erosion degradation of PGD under stress through finite element analysis,which provides a protocol for PGD implants with different geometric structures at varied mechanical conditions and provides solutions for predicting in vivo degradation processes,stress distribution during degradation and optimization of the loaded drug release.

Personality recognition is of great significance in deepening the understanding of social relations. While personality recognition methods have made significant strides in recent years, the challenge of heterogeneity between modalities during feature fusion still needs to be solved. This paper introduces an adaptive multi-modal information fusion network (AMIF-Net) capable of concurrently processing video, audio, and text data. First, utilizing the AMIF-Net encoder, we process the extracted audio and video features separately, effectively capturing long-term data relationships. Then, adding adaptive elements in the fusion network can alleviate the problem of heterogeneity between modes. Lastly, we concatenate audio-video and text features into a regression network to obtain Big Five personality trait scores. Furthermore, we introduce a novel loss function to address the problem of training inaccuracies, taking advantage of its unique property of exhibiting a peak at the critical mean. Our tests on the ChaLearn First Impressions V2 multi-modal dataset show partial performance surpassing state-of-the-art networks. © 2024 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

The intelligent segmentation of periodontitis regions plays a crucial role in the field of dental medicine, significantly aiding in the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. In the domain of medical image segmentation, the UNet architecture, composed of convolutional networks (CNNs), has shown outstanding performance, yielding favorable results in many segmentation tasks. However, when dealing with periodontitis segmentation images that feature both complex overall structures and intricate details with numerous focal points, a UNet based on CNNs suffers from insufficient receptive fields and inadequate capability to capture global feature relationships. Therefore, in this paper, we propose GC-UNet, which designs a GCN-based global feature receptor. This receptor embeds the feature map information obtained by the UNet encoder into graph data and employs a method to calculate edge weights based on spatial distance. By cleverly converting the original spatial positional relationships into an adjacency matrix, our network can capture the associations of global information. To this end, we design a series of experiments to compare the performance of our method with existing methods on the periodontitis segmentation task and to investigate the impact of various key parameter variables on network performance. The experiments demonstrate that GC-UNet exhibits superiority over existing methods in the periodontitis segmentation task. © 2024 IEEE.

virtual reality (VR) demonstration is safe, convenient, low-cost, and has easy access to learning data. keyframes have been extensively used in learning from demonstration (LfD) to teach robots skills, especially when the skills need to be further updated and adapted. However, few works use keyframe-based methods in VR demonstrations to combine the advantages of both. Besides, human annotations and multiple demonstrations are always required to generate keyframe models, which causes problems of large demonstration workload, poor interpretability, and low generalization performance. To tackle the issues mentioned above, we propose VRCK: a VR teaching system based on generation and editing of constrained keyframes. In this system, only one demonstration is needed to generate the skill keyframes, path keyframes and additional keyframes. Constraints can be generated automatically using object detection and binocular localization algorithms. During the VR teaching process, users can visualize keyframes and constraints, and use UI to bind and edit them at any time. Finally, three task cases and a physical experiment are provided to validate our system and illustrate how it enables intratask generalization. © 2023 IEEE.

Immersive virtual sculpting focuses primarily on geometric adjustments and ignores material properties and haptic feedback. This study enhances the sculpting experience by integrating physics-based elastoplastic materials and real-time haptic feedback. The key innovations include an advanced Material Point Method (MPM) for stable and accurate large-scale deformations, integrating material elasticity and plasticity. An improved haptic rendering algorithm calculates forces exerted by clay on the virtual tool and transmits them to the user, enhancing realism. An improved marching cubes algorithm enhances particle-mesh compatibility for better surface reconstruction. A controlled experiment with 52 participants demonstrated that our system increased task efficiency and performance compared to the control group, indicating a more immersive, tactile, and accurate sculpting experience.

The current robotic arm assembly mainly relies on vision to provide behavioral guidance. However, there are a large number of assembly tasks that cannot be completed by vision alone or have insufficient precision, such as the snap-fit of the Flexible Printed Cable and the insertion and removal of multi-pin plugs. These tasks require the guidance of force information, which we call haptics, generated during assembly. However, the current force simulation tools are difficult to achieve real-time accurate simulation, and usually occupy a lot of computational cost. In this paper, a method is proposed, which uses the collision system of Unity to model the local force on the contact surface, designs the collider array according to the contour structure of the surface. To verify the effectiveness of this representation, we train a simple network to estimate the attitude of irregular surface contact. we use the collected local force information as a feature. The position and pose of the head are used as the output, and a nonlinear neural network is trained, which can estimate the position and pose of the male head based on the collected features. It has been verified that the estimation accuracy of most of the outputs exceeds 95%. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The "Dongba Script Character Construction Space"is an interactive science VR experience based on the Dongba script of the Naxi people in Yunnan Province, China, which provides an immersive virtual reality experience based on the traditional Yiyin script theory. [Selmanović et al., 2020] Specifically, this work combines the character construction characteristics of "pictogram", "simple ideographs"and "compound ideographs"to explore the meaning and visual symbolic characteristics of Naxi pictograms through three interesting forms of interaction, and provides more possibilities for the inheritance and development of Dongba in the future by using various forms of interaction. © 2023 Owner/Author.

Cervical spondylosis is a common disease that is often caused by long-term abnormal cervical curvature due to activities such as reading books and using computers or *** paper explores building an untethered and skin-integrated device in an e-skin form factor to monitor and haptically correct neck *** proposed design features a multilayered structure that integrates all flexible electronic circuits and components into a compact skin space while being untethered and skin *** accelerometer in the e-skin attaches to the neck for posture sensing,while four vibration actuators closely touch the neck skin to provide localized vibrotactile stimuli that encode four-direction correction cues of neck flexion±αand lateral bending±β.To ensure the reliability of posture sensing and vibrotactile rendering during neck movement,it is necessary to prevent the e-skin device from shifting ***,a hollow structure-based method is implemented for stably attaching the e-skin to the neck *** validated the e-skin device's sensing precision,skin-conformal compliance,stickiness,stability and effectiveness during the motion of neck postures,including its discrimination of localized four-direction vibrotactile cues.A user study verified the device's performance for sensing and correcting different abnormal neck postures during activities such as using smartphones,reading books,and processing computer *** proposed e-skin device may create opportunities for more convenient cervical spondylosis prevention and rehabilitation.

The shallow sea biological fishing robot is mainly used for the detection and fishing of marine products, with a wide and urgent application prospect. Due to the defects of spiral propulsion, a propulsion scheme of bionic fin propelling underwater robot for biological fishing in the shallow sea is introduced in this paper. Bionic fin propelling can also be used as a supplementary propulsion mode in the case of propeller damage. In this paper, a control algorithm based on central pattern generator (CPG) is presented on the basis of dynamic analysis. The simulation analysis is carried out for the vibration parameters of the fin, the force generated by the fin and the speed of the robot. Further, the swimming gait of the robot is planned. Finally, through experimental verification, the underwater robot can realize the movement function of each degree of freedom, and the propulsive force and movement speed are proven to be consistent with the theoretical and simulation analysis results. © 2023 IEEE.
