In order to investigate the thermal behaviour of radiation induced point defects in nuclear graphite, ETU10 graphite was implanted with 350 keV C+ ion to doses of 1015 and 1016 cm-2. The point defects introduced by the implantation were characterized by Positron Annihilation Doppler Broadening (PADB) and their thermal behaviour was studied during 'in situ' annealing at Delft Variable Energy Positron beam (VEP). The annealing was performed for 5 minutes at temperatures ranging from 300 K (as implanted) to 1500 K in steps of 100 K. For both doses, an annealing stage at around 450 K is observed followed by a second stage around 700 K. For the high dose implantation vacancy complexes are found which are stable up to a temperature around 1400K.

The effects of amplitude-dependent coupling on oscillator death (OD) are investigated for two repulsively coupled Lorenz oscillators. Based on numerical simulations, it is shown that as constraint strengths on the amplitude-dependent coupling change, an oscillatory state may undergo a transition to an OD state. The parameter regimes of the OD domain are theoretically determined, which coincide well with the numerical results. An electronic circuit is set up to exhibit the transition process to the OD state with an amplitude-dependent coupling. These findings may have practical importance on chaos control and oscillation depression.

In this paper, a discrete mathematical approach to solve scheduling of multi-pipeline systems for petroleum products under demand uncertainty is presented. To deal with the uncertainty, the conditional value-at-risk(CVAR) analysis is adopted as a risk measure. Firstly an improved scheduling approach is proposed to model the multi-pipeline system with the consideration of different pipeline segment sizes. The improved formulation is computationally intractable when pipeline segments have distinct capacities. Then the model takes a scenario-based approach to cope with uncertainty in a CVAR framework. Computational results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. All the instances are implemented using CPLEX.

In this study, guide sleeves are brought into 3D weaving composite preforms. The process vacuum assisted resin infusion (VARI) was used to fabricate the 3D weaving composite with guide sleeves. The load-deflection curves and shear behaviors of the 3D weaving composites with guide sleeves were obtained by means of the 3-point bending test. The fracture micrographs of the materials were studied by SEM. The effects of guide sleeves' diameter and interval on the shear behavior and fracture mechanisms of the 3D weaving composites were analyzed. The results showed that the guide sleeves could prevent delamination effectively by bridging fiber layer and pinning crack extending along the fiber layer. Fracture toughness of the composite parts increase because of deformation, fracture of guide sleeves and debonding of interface. The diameter and interval of guide sleeves is smaller, which means the volume fraction of guide sleeves is higher, the interlaminar shear strength higher for the bridging is stronger.

Aiming at the existing IP geolocation approaches does not consider the errors of landmarks, a new geolocation approach utilized landmark calibration is proposed in this paper. At first, by assigning a deviation, the location of the landmark with low reliability is regarded as a possible area, then geolocating the target IP can be converted into a constrained optimization problem, finding the location estimation of target IP by solving this problem, as well as the real deviation of landmark. The algorithm analysis and experimental results show that, when a landmark is not located in its claimed position, our geolocation approach can still give a location for the target IP.
