A Variable Parameter Series Compensation Method Featuring Fast Dynamic Response for Dual Active Bridge Converter in Battery Charging/Discharging Applications

The extended-phase-shift (EPS) modulated dual-active-bridge (DAB) converter has become prevalent in battery charging/discharging systems, where low overshoot and short settling time are critically required. However, wide variations in battery voltage and current and abrupt operating mode transitions tend to challenge the dynamic performance of the converter. In this paper, a small-signal model is developed, the potential challenge due to the wide-range variations or abrupt mode transitions is evaluated, and a variable parameter series compensation (VPSC) method is proposed. The proposed method can adjust its parameters in real time according to the variations in battery voltage and current, making the dynamics of the EPS-DAB converter immune to the variations. For practical implementation, a polynomial-fit approximation is conducted to minimize the computational complexity. An execution-optimized flowchart is also provided. Experimental results on a 45-kW prototype demonstrate the effectiveness of the VPSC method. Even under the worst case when the battery voltage is 107 V and the battery current steps from 100 A to -100 A, no overshoot arises and the settling time is less than 6 ms. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

Thrombosis and infection are 2 major complications associated with central venous catheters(CVCs),resulting in substantial mortality and *** concurrent long-term administration of antibiotics and anticoagulants to address these complications have been demonstrated to cause severe side effects such as antibiotic resistance and *** mitigate these complications with minimal or no drug utilization,we developed a bioinspired zwitterionic block polymer-armored nitric oxide(NO)-generating functional coating for surface modification of *** armor was fabricated by precoating with a Cu-dopamine(DA)/selenocysteamine(SeCA)(Cu-DA/SeCA)network film capable of catalytically generating NO on the CVCs surface,followed by grafting of a zwitterionic p(DMA-b-MPC-b-DMA)polymer *** synergistic effects of active attack by NO and copper ions provided by Cu-DA/SeCA network and passive defense by zwitterionic polymer brush imparted the CVCs surface with durable antimicrobial properties and marked inhibition of platelets and *** in vivo studies confirmed that the surface-armored CVCs could effectively reduce inflammation and inhibit thrombosis,indicating a promising potential for clinical applications.

Minimum Steady-state Fault Current of GridForming Inverters With Virtual Impedance-Based Current Limiting Caused by Active Power Control

Fault current limiting based on virtual impedance (VI) has been widely utilized in grid-forming (GFM) inverters. The VI magnitude is generally designed to its maximum value under the worst case, which reduces the point of common coupling (PCC) voltage magnitude to limit the steady-state fault current. However, this letter reveals that due to the constraints imposed by the active power control during the steady state, as the PCC voltage magnitude decreases, its phase angle increases, which has been ignored. The opposite effects of VI on the PCC voltage magnitude and phase angle lead to a minimum steady-state fault current that is independent of VI. During severe grid voltage sags, this minimum steady-state fault current can exceed the current limit, making the effective fault current limiting impossible by using VI alone. This finding provides new insights into the steady-state analysis and control optimization of GFM inverters. Experimental results validate the theoretical findings. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

Modern engineering demands materials that combine mechanical robustness with effective electromagnetic wave absorption, driven by advancements in wireless communication, radar technologies, and smart infrastructure. Here, we construct a gradient cement paste by layering cement slurries with varying concentrations of carbon nanotubes. This gradient design enhances toughness and impact resistance by optimizing microstructural features and interfacial interactions, which facilitate efficient load transfer and stress delocalization. Additionally, the gradient structure improves electromagnetic wave absorption performance through optimized impedance matching and multiple electromagnetic loss mechanisms, including multiple reflections, scattering, and reabsorption of electromagnetic waves within the material. These synergistic properties position gradient cement pastes as promising high-performance, multifunctional materials for mitigating electromagnetic pollution and advancing next-generation infrastructure. © The Author(s) 2025.

Surrogate-Assisted Multiobjective Gene Selection for Cell Classification from Large-Scale Single-Cell RNA Sequencing Data

Accurate cell classification is crucial but expensive for large-scale single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) analysis. Gene selection (GS) emerges as a pivotal technique in identifying gene subsets of scRNA-seq for classification accuracy improvement and gene scale reduction. Nevertheless, the rising scale of scRNA-seq data presents challenges to existing GS methods regarding performance and computational time. Thus, we propose a surrogate-assisted evolutionary algorithm for multiobjective GS to address these deficiencies. An innovative two-phase initialization method is proposed to select sparse solutions to provide preliminary insights into gene contributions. Then, a binary competitive swarm optimizer is proposed for effective global search, where a local search method is embedded to eliminate irrelevant genes for efficiency consideration. Additionally, a surrogate model is adopted to forecast classification accuracy efficiently and substitutes part of the computationally expensive classification process. Experiments are conducted on eight large-scale scRNA-seq datasets with more than 20,000 genes. The effectiveness of the proposed GS method for scRNA-seq cell classification compared with eight state-of-the-art methods is validated. Gene expression analysis results of selected genes further validated the significance of the genes selected by the proposed method in the classification of scRNA-seq data. © 1997-2012 IEEE.

The challenge of the complex oxygen evolution reaction (OER) currently impedes the efficient production of hydrogen via electrolytic water splitting. To address this issue, the development and improvement of effective electrocatalysts are required. LiCoO2, a key material in lithium-ion batteries, has shown promising potential as an electrocatalyst for electrochemical energy conversion. However, OER catalysts derived from LiCoO2 have faced obstacles such as high overpotential and a complicated preparation process. In this study, the preparation method is adjusted to optimize the synthesis of Li1-xCoO2 with a defective structure, resulting in an impressive overpotential of only 290 mV at a current density of 100 mA cm−2 and a remarkable Tafel slope of 15.2 mV dec−1. The exceptional catalytic activity of Li1-xCoO2 can be attributed to the absence of Li, which triggers oxidative alterations in the electronic structure of Co. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that Li defects can influence the d-band center of active Co sites, enhancing the adsorption capabilities of Co sites towards *OOH intermediates and increasing the conductivity of the electrocatalyst during the OER process. These alterations improve the velocity of the crucial step in the reaction, ultimately boosting the catalyst's overall performance and efficiency. © 2024 The Authors

Expanded heterohelicenes composed of alternating linearly and angularly fused multi-resonance (MR) skeletons have gained wide interest owing to their promising narrowband emissions. Herein, a pair of sym- and asym-expanded heterohelicene isomers was obtained by merging boron/oxygen (B/O)-embedded MR triangulene and indolo[3,2,1-jk]carbazole units via one-pot synthesis. Owing to their fully resonating extended helical skeleton, the target heterohelicenes exhibit a significantly narrowed spectra bandwidth while emission red-shifting, thus affording deep-blue narrowband emission with a peak at approximately 460 nm, full-width-at-half-maximum (FWHM) of only 18 nm, and near-unity photoluminescence quantum yields. In comparison to the symmetrical structure, the asym-expanded heterohelicene displays suppressed aggregation within doped films, thereby showing superior narrowband electroluminescence in devices with CIE coordinates of (0.12, 0.18) and a high external quantum efficiency of up to 25 %, which retains 18.1 % even at a high luminance of 10,000 cd m−1. Overall, this work provides a novel paradigm for the development of narrowband expanded heterohelicenes. © 2025 Wiley-VCH GmbH.

Minimizing transformer inference overhead using controlling element on Shenwei AI accelerator

Transformer models have become a cornerstone of various natural language processing (NLP) tasks. However, the substantial computational overhead during the inference remains a significant challenge, limiting their deployment in practical applications. In this study, we address this challenge by minimizing the inference overhead in transformer models using the controlling element on artificial intelligence (AI) accelerators. Our work is anchored by four key contributions. First, we conduct a comprehensive analysis of the overhead composition within the transformer inference process, identifying the primary bottlenecks. Second, we leverage the management processing element (MPE) of the Shenwei AI (SWAI) accelerator, implementing a three-tier scheduling framework that significantly reduces the number of host-device launches to approximately 1/10 000 of the original PyTorch-GPU setup. Third, we introduce a zero-copy memory management technique using segment-page fusion, which significantly reduces memory access latency and improves overall inference efficiency. Finally, we develop a fast model loading method that eliminates redundant computations during model verification and initialization, reducing the total loading time for large models from 22 128.31 ms to 1041.72 ms. Our contributions significantly enhance the optimization of transformer models, enabling more efficient and expedited inference processes on AI accelerators.

Design of the high voltage isolation transmission module with low delay for ECRH system on J-TEXT

As a flexible auxiliary heating method,the electron cyclotron resonance heating（ECRH） has been widely used in many tokamaks and also will be applied for the J-TEXT *** meet requirements of protection and fault analysis for the ECRH system on J-TEXT,signals of gyrotrons such as the cathode voltage and current,the anode voltage and current,etc should be transmitted to the control and data acquisition *** the high voltage environment of gyrotrons,isolation transmission module based on FPGA and optical fiber communication has been designed and *** test results indicate that the designed module has strong anti-noise ability,low error rate and high transmission *** delay of the module is no more than 5 μs which can fulfill the requirements.

Equilibrium Reconstruction and Integration of EFIT with Diagnoses in J-TEXT Tokamak

The EFIT program is integrated with the high resolution laser polarimeter interferometer system（POLARIS）, the soft X-ray imaging diagnostic system（SXR） and the electron cyclotron emission radiometer（ECE） in the J-TEXT tokamak. Then some internal information about Faraday angle and the position of safety factor q=1 can be obtained as a constraint to EFIT. The modified EFIT code is used to calculate the internal parameters such as flux function, safety factor q, pressure and current density.
