Atomic transport dynamics in crossed optical dipole trap

We study the dynamical evolution of cold atoms in crossed optical dipole trap theoretically and experimentally. The atomic transport process is accompanied by two competitive kinds of physical mechanics, atomic loading and atomic *** loading process normally is negligible in the evaporative cooling experiment on the ground, while it is significant in preparation of ultra-cold atoms in the space station. Normally, the atomic loading process is much weaker than the atomic loss process, and the atomic number in the central region of the trap decreases monotonically, as reported in previous research. However, when the atomic loading process is comparable to the atomic loss process, the atomic number in the central region of the trap will initially increase to a maximum value and then slowly decrease, and we have observed the phenomenon first. The increase of atomic number in the central region of the trap shows the presence of the loading process, and this will be significant especially under microgravity conditions. We build a theoretical model to analyze the competitive relationship, which coincides with the experimental results well. Furthermore, we have also given the predicted evolutionary behaviors under different conditions. This research provides a solid foundation for further understanding of the atomic transport process in traps. The analysis of loading process is of significant importance for preparation of ultra-cold atoms in a crossed optical dipole trap under microgravity conditions.

optical Grid has been thought as a promising technology to support large-scale data-intensive distributed applications. For such a system with so many heterogeneous resources involved, faults seem to be inevitable. A fault in optical Grid may lead to the failure of the application. Therefore, fault-tolerant policies are necessary to improve the performance of optical Grid and satisfy the SLA requirements of the applications. In this paper, we propose several fault-tolerant policies for optical Grid. The performances of different polices are compared by simulation. © 2008 SPIE.

optical grid, the integrated computing environment based on optical network, is expected to be an efficient infrastructure to support advanced data-intensive grid applications. In optical grid, the faults of both computational and network resources are inevitable due to the large scale and high complexity of the system. With the optical network based distributed computing systems extensive applied in the processing of data, the requirement of the application failure probability have been an important indicator of the quality of application and an important aspect the operators consider. This paper will present a task-based analysis method of the application failure probability in optical grid. Then the failure probability of the entire application can be quantified, and the performance of reducing application failure probability in different backup strategies can be compared, so that the different requirements of different clients can be satisfied according to the application failure probability respectively. In optical grid, when the application based DAG (directed acyclic graph) is executed in different backup strategies, the application failure probability and the application complete time is different. This paper will propose new multi-objective differentiated services algorithm (MDSA). New application scheduling algorithm can guarantee the requirement of the failure probability and improve the network resource utilization, realize a compromise between the network operator and the application submission. Then differentiated services can be achieved in optical grid. © 2008 SPIE.

Moving objects continuously generate large amounts of spatio-temporal data. Maintaining and querying the location information of moving objects are a crucial problem. This paper focuses on the query problems of indexing structure for moving objects. The main focus of query processing is retrieval of approximate future movement information about moving objects that may be unavailable. First, a VPMR-tree is proposed for indexing the moving objects in road networks. Second, exponential smoothing method for predicting the result of queries that refer to the future is implemented. The experimental results have shown that VPMR-tree achieves a better performance for query evaluation than TPR-tree. © 2006 IEEE.

In this paper, we present the method proposed by our team for Track 2 of NLPCC 2023 Shared Task 7, which focuses on the extraction of paragraph-level and whole essay topic sentences in middle school student essays. This paper proposes a two-stage topic sentence extraction framework for each paragraph and the whole essay. In the first stage, we extract topic sentences for each paragraph, considering local semantic and contextual aspects. In the second stage, we derive the text topic sentence for the whole essay from the extracted paragraph-level topic sentences. Compared with the one-stage method, the two-stage method which can focus on the local semantic information of paragraphs related to the task has advantages in paragraph and full-text topic sentence extraction. Comparative experiments show that the extraction performance of the fine-tuned two-stage topic sentence extraction framework surpasses the few-shot large language models (GPT-3.5 et al.). The final comprehensive index also achieved the first-place result in this track. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Multi-task learning with Convolutional Neural network (CNN) has shown great success in many Natural Language Processing (NLP) tasks. This success can be largely attributed to the feature sharing by fusing some layers among tasks. However, most existing approaches just fully or proportionally share the features without distinguishing the helpfulness of them. By that the network would be confused by the helpless even harmful features, generating undesired interference between tasks. In this paper, we introduce gate mechanism into multi-task CNN and propose a new Gated Sharing Unit, which can filter the feature flows between tasks and greatly reduce the interference. Experiments on 9 text classification datasets shows that our approach can learn selection rules automatically and gain a great improvement over strong baselines. © 2018 Association for Computational Linguistics.

In Geographic Information system (GIS), fast and efficiently indexing moving objects are a crucial issue in several application domains, such as LBS, Intelligence Transportation and Digital Battle. In this paper, a new index structure, PQR-tree, is proposed to fast update and efficiently index the present or near future positions of constrained moving objects based on the characters of moving objects. PQR-tree is an integrated tree structure which combined PMR Quadtree, Quadtree and R*-tree together. Firstly, QR-tree which combined Quadtree and R*-tree is used to carry out rough level partition for index space based on range region. Next, an R*-tree is used to index quasi-static objects for each subspace. Then, using a splitting rule of PMR Quadtree to carry further level partition for index space based on road networks and all fast moving objects are related to the road networks. The experimental results show that PQR-tree achieves better performance for index updating and query evaluation than TPR-tree. © 2006 IEEE.
