Flatness-based Feedforward and Feedback control for Fuel Rail System of Gasoline Direct Injection Engine

For gasoline direct injection (GDI) engines, obtaining desired rail pressure has become a key prerequisite of fuel injection quantity precise control. Since improved control performance and robustness will translate into better combustion stability, fuel economy and emissions. This paper develops a feedforward-feedback controller based on a nonlinear model of fuel rail system, where nominal feedforward control is derived by differential flatness and fuel rail pressure is selected as flat output. In feedback part, to simplify the design, the system is linearized on equilibrium point using Taylor series expansion, and Lyapunov method is used to ensure stability of closed-loop error system. Finally, the proposed controller is verified by fuel rail system simulation model established in AMESim software package, the simulation results in different pressure references demonstrate the effectiveness of the control system. © 2016

This paper describes a novel power management control strategy of battery and supercapacitor hybrid energy storage system to improve system efficiency and battery lifetime. In the presented research, the high and low frequency power demand in the load is separated by a Haar wavelet transform algorithm to overcome the problem of battery overload work and associated degeneration in battery lifetime resulting from an ineffective distribution between battery and supercapacitor. The purpose of frequency distribution is that the supercapacitor is used to share high frequency power components of load power demand to smooth the power demand applied to battery. However, the sole frequency control often fails to realize the optimal utilization of supercapacitor because of the uncertain variation in the driving cycle. Therefore, the power demand distributed to supercapacitor is designed to be changeable along with the variation of its voltage, which is another important advantage of the proposed control strategy. The idea is to utilize different decomposition levels of wavelet transform algorithm, which is adjusted by using a fuzzy-logic controller to reduce the adverse influence of both high frequency transition and peak power from the load power demand on battery system. Finally, simulation is conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed strategy. © Copyright 2016 SAE International.

To analyze the rollover safety,finite element models were established for the electric bus body frame,rollover simulation platform,living space,and bus *** strength and stiffness of the body frame were calculated under four typical work-ing conditions considering the main low-order elastic modal *** results indicate that the initial body frame of the electric bus satisfies the required structural strength,stiffness,modes,and rollover safety,and it has great potential for lightweight *** and structural contribution analyses were performed to determine the design variables for lightweight optimization of the body frame,and a mathematical model was established for multi-objective collaborative optimization design of the electric ***,the radial basis function neural network was used to approximate the optimiza-tion ***,the accuracy of the approximate model was verified,and the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II was employed to determine solutions for the lightweight *** with the initial model,the mass of the optimized model is reduced by 240 kg(9.0%)without any changes in the materials of the body frame.

The clutch-to-clutch gear-shift process of dual clutch transmission (DCT), which consists of the overlapping of the engagement of the incoming clutch and the disengagement of the outgoing clutch, is a vital stage for the shift quality improvement. The paper investigated an integrated control strategy for the gear-shift process that takes into account the influences of oil pressure of dual clutches and engine speed on shift quality. Firstly, the evaluation indices for the shift quality of DCT were summarized, and the factors affecting the shift quality were analyzed. Secondly, an integrated control strategy for dual clutches pressure and engine speed was proposed. Through analyzing the states of clutch in the gear-shift process and the desired traction torque for different gears, the strategies of variable oil pressure and invariable oil pressure were determined for every gear-shift process. Furthermore, a PID controller for engine speed and a fuzzy controller for clutch pressure were developed respectively. Finally, the simulation model for the gear-shift process of a wet-type DCT was built, and taking the shift jerk and the friction work as evaluation indices for the shift quality, the variable pressure strategy has been compared with the invariable pressure strategy via simulation experiments. simulation results show that the fuzzy controller can make the actual clutch pressure trace the target pressure precisely in the gear-shift process and both the shift jerk and the friction work produced with the variable pressure strategy are less than those produced with the invariable pressure strategy for all up- and downshift processes of DCT. A Nonlinear Observer Approach of SOC Estimation Based on Hysteresis Model for Lithium-ion Battery

In this paper, a state of charge U+0028 SOC U+0029 estimation approach for lithium-ion battery based on equivalent circuit model and the input-to-state stability U+0028 ISS U+0029 theory has been proposed. According to the electrochemical performance of lithiumion battery, the equivalent circuit model with two RC networks is established, which includes hysteresis characteristic in inner electrochemical response process. The nonlinear relation between open circuit voltage U+0028 OCV U+0029 and SOC is obtained from a rapid test. Exponential fitting method is used to identify the parameters of the model. A novel state observer based on ISS theory is designed for lithium-ion battery SOC estimation. The designed observer is tested on AMESim and Simulink co-simulation. The simulation results show that the proposed method has a high SOC estimation accuracy with an error of about 2 percent. © 2017 Chinese Association of Automation.

Car Fuel Economy simulation Forecast Method Based on CVT Efficiencies Measured from Bench Test

Researchers face di culties in studying the e ects of driveline e ciency on car fuel economy via bench and road tests because of long working periods, high costs, and heavy workloads. To simplify the study process and shorten test cycles, a car fuel economy simulation forecast method for combining computer simulation forecasting with bench tests is proposed. Taking a continuously variable transmission(CVT) as the research object, a transmission e ?ciency model based on a bench test is constructed. An optimal economic variogram based on the original CVT vari?ogram, the boundary conditions of vehicle performance, the road conditions and the driving behavior of the driver is generated in the Gear Shift Program(GSP)?Generation module in AVL Cruise. And on this basis a driveline simulation model that can calculate the fuel consumption based on the driveline data of a test car is built. The model is used to forecast fuel consumption and calculate real?time CVT e ciency under di erent conditions. Contrastive analyses on simulation results and real car drum test results are made. The largest error between simulation results and drum test results in driving cycles is 4.099%, which is 5.449% under constant velocity condition in driver control mode and 4.2% under constant velocity condition in automatic cruise mode. The results confirm the feasibility of the method and the good performance of the driveline simulation model in accurately forecasting fuel consumption. The method can e ciently investigate the e ects of driveline e ciency on car fuel economy. Moreover, this research provides instruc?tion for accurately forecasting fuel economy as well as references for studies on the e ects of drivelines on car fuel economy.

Linear Precoding Design for MIMO-PLC Systems

In this paper, we consider the design of linear precoding in Multiple Input Multiple Output （MIMO） Power Line Communication （PLC） systems with finite-alphabet input. First, we derive mutual information of MIMO-PLC systems with impulsive noise. Considering the non-concavity of the objective function and the low-cost requirement of PLC systems, we choose the lower bound of the mutual information as the objective function. Subsequently, we propose a novel approach to design the precoding scheme to reduce computational complexity. Specifically, our work primarily includes the following two contributions：（1） We design the right unitary matrix that is a product of two fixed unitary matrices, which only depends on the modulation mode. Hence, the results can be saved and require less computations. （2） For the power allocation matrix, we first reduce the space of power allocation using constraints of the optimal power allocation policy. Consequently, we propose a non-linear search method to obtain the optimal power allocation in small space. In regards to the computational complexity of the analysis, we conclude that the proposed precoding matrix design scheme has low complexity and is easy to implement. Moreover, the numerical results are proven to demonstrate the performance of the proposed precoding design scheme.

Equivalent Consumption Minimization Strategy Based on Dynamic Programming for Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle

Equivalence factor plays a key role in equivalent consumption minimization strategy and due to its strong relevance with driving cycle, the change of driving cycle can be reflected by the equivalence factor and at the same time different driving cycle has different equivalence factor. In this paper, the optimal equivalence factor as one of the control variables is calculated by dynamic programming. The three initial maps of the optimal equivalence factor concerning state of charge and power demand are formulated over NEDC, UDDS, 10-15 mode cycle respectively. These maps are fused together to obtain the final one for simulation analysis. Compared with the rule-based control strategy, the proposed method has a better fuel economy over NEDC, UDDS, 10-15 mode cycle. © 2018

Climatic features of wind field and their impact on local air quality in Taiyuan Basin

Taiyuan Basin has long been considered as one of the most air-polluted regions in China, closely related to its enclosed terrain and local climatic conditions. In this study, the wintertime climatic characteristics of the wind field and the corresponding boundary layer structure were investigated for their potential impact on local air quality in Taiyuan Basin, utilizing long-term Weather Research and Forecasting model simulations from 2015 to 2020. Prevailing southwesterly wind in this basin was revealed. It was demonstrated that the blocking effect of the mountains to the dominant airflow of winter monsoon, and the guidance of the basin orientation to the diverted wind, lead to this fundamental feature. Eight synoptic patterns were identified based on the obliquely rotated T-mode Principal Component Analysis (T-PCA) and further grouped into pollution-prone and relatively clean pattern types. Weak winds, low boundary layer height, higher temperature and higher relative humidity were associated with pollution-prone synoptic patterns, while the opposite conditions were related to the clean patterns. Lower and higher ventilation indexes (2 s−1 and > 4000 m2 s−1) were also distinct the former from the latter patterns. Two case studies revealed the detailed vertical structure of boundary layer wind and temperature, as well as their temporal variation during the pollution episode. The influence of upper layer southwest warm advection was emphasized. In contrast, for clean events in this basin, the removal of air pollutants heavily depended on the air-flushing process brought by the stronger weather system, which occurred in frequency approximately 36 % in the winter season. © 2025

Constrained control of free piston engine generator based on implicit reference governor

The free piston engine generator(FPEG) is a novel power plant concept for series hybrid electric vehicles(HEV) that requires reliable control to regulate piston motion and guarantee safe operation during load transitions. This paper focuses on the control and constraint enforcement in a FPEG using a reference governor. A discrete, implicit, control oriented model describing the piston motion in a two-stroke twocylinder FPEG at the turnaround point is derived based on energy balance and a feedback controller is designed to track the desired turnaround position by regulating fuel. An implicit reference governor is developed to guarantee safe piston motion by managing the load transitions. The reference governor utilizes Newton's method applied to an implicit nonlinear model for response prediction and a bisection search algorithm to enforce the constraints for all the future time instants by adjusting the reference ***, the error in applying one iteration of Newton's method in predicting the response of the implicit nonlinear system is estimated and accounted for in constraint tightening to guarantee that constraints are robustly enforced. The simulation results show that the feedback control scheme incorporating the developed implicit reference governor can effectively enforce the prescribed constraints during load transition.
