Enhancing the green efficiency of fundamental sectors in China’s industrial system:A spatial-temporal analysis

Due to sectoral interactions in the economy,the overall green efficiency(GE)of China’s industrial system relies heavily on fundamental sectors that contribute substantial energy to the supply chain production of other sectors but shows low sectoral *** the three fundamental sectors in China’s industrial systems,namely the smelting and pressing of nonferrous metals(SPNFM),the processing of petroleum,coking,and nuclear fuel(PPCNF);and the manufacturing of nonmetallic mineral products(MNMMP),we employed a three-stage data envelopment analysis(DEA)model to measure GE in the fundamental sectors in 30 provinces from 2010 to *** then adopted a stochastic frontier analysis(SFA)model to evaluate the influence of technological innovation(TI),industrial agglomeration(IA),environmental regulation(ER),and intraindustry competition(IC).The results showed that GE in the three fundamental sectors varied ***,TI promoted GE in MNMMP,but the effect was not obvious in the SPNFM and PPCNF ***,ER had positive impacts on GE in the fundamental *** effects of IA and IC on GE in the fundamental sectors varied in direction and *** eliminating the impacts of environmental effects and statistical noise,the real GE in the three fundamental sectors varied significantly compared to the comprehensive *** opportunities for enhancing GE in the fundamental sectors mainly lie in region-specific policy and regulations that avoid a“one-size-fits-all”governance approach.

In order to better accommodate renewable energy sources (RESs), a general coordinated mechanism for modern power system has been proposed, which is simultaneously appropriate for economic dispatch and market clearing under the current structure of wholesale markets. In which, the system operator can achieve a global optimum under uncertainties by investing independent aggregators (IAs) with better autonomies on trade-offs between expected profits and risks. Meanwhile, IAs with RESs are free to model their internal uncertainty in a heterogeneous manner and integrate the local information into tailored bids without revealing privacy. Moreover, a parametric-programming-based distributed (PPD) algorithm is designed to support the once-daily communication mechanism. The case studies validated the performance of the proposed mechanism.

Electric buses play a vital role in future sustainable transportation and estimating the energy consumption of electric buses is important for reducing range anxiety and optimizing charging schedules. However, due to the numerous unobserved factors in real-world driving, there are naturally significant uncertainties in the energy consumption of electric vehicles. Therefore, besides focusing on improving model accuracy, the estimating probabilistic distribution of the uncertainties can also help to better characterize electric bus energy consumption and increase the confidence in the estimation results. In this paper, two probabilistic models, based on Bayesian regression and quantile regression, are proposed to estimate the probabilistic distribution of electric bus energy consumption; the probabilistic models are trained and validated using real-world driving data from 10 electric buses over a year. The results show that the proposed methods both capture the probabilistic characteristics well; however, the variations of uncertainties are better adapted in quantile regression.

Hydrogen energy, a type of green secondary energy, has attracted much attention in recent years. The production of hydrogen by water electrolysis is less harmful to the environment and makes it possible to obtain hydrogen with a high degree of purity. But it requires a lot of electricity and is expensive. Installed capacity and the share of electricity generation from new energy sources have increased recently. The "double high" trend in the power system is becoming apparent. The combination of new energy power generation and hydrogen production by water electrolysis can not only promote the absorption of new energy power generation, but also reduce the cost of hydrogen production. The conventional thyristor power supply system for hydrogen production has low power factor and poor harmonic performance, which cannot meet the requirements of the new power system. Hydrogen production power supply based on fully controlled devices is gradually becoming mainstream. In this paper, the low voltage ride through capability and the reactive power support function for the power grid of hydrogen production power supply based on fully controlled devices are verified by simulation. For both symmetrical and asymmetrical faults, the hydrogen production power supply can ride through the fault.

Recently, several power grids of China came across low frequency oscillations which are difficult to explain by the traditional negative damping mechanism. Some researchers suggest that those oscillations be caused by external periodic disturbances according to the forced oscillation mechanism. It takes no doubt that the oscillation source location (means locating the disturbances) is imperative and decisive to eliminate such a kind of oscillations. This paper proposes a location methodology based on Energy Supply on Port derived from the Port-controlled Hamiltonian theory. By calculating the energy injected to the network at corresponding ports, the oscillation sources can be effectively located, even in complicated systems containing various kinds of control devices such as governors and exciters. Different from the traditional methodology based on eigen-analysis, the proposed methodology is naturally decentralized without the dependency on global measurements. Case studies on the standard 4-machine 2-area system and the IEEE-118 bus system show the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed methodology.

Regenerative compressed air energy storage (RCAES) system is a practical and efficient solution to large-scale integration of renewable energy problems faced by power systems currently. Appropriately modeling of RCAES system is critical to its practical application, whereas research in this area has been very limited. According to the energy storage and transformation process, a concise model of RCAES system applicable to power scheduling field is proposed. Then, a unit commitment model with RCAES system is formulated as a MILP problem which can be accurately solved with high computation efficiency by CPLEX. A modified IEEE 39 bus system is used to study the impacts of parameters of RCAES system on unit commitment and the effectiveness of the proposed model is then validated. Furthermore, the proposed model can also be employed to optimize key parameters of RCAES system, e.g. efficiency and capacity of each part in an integrated way.

Marine aerosols over East China Seas are heavily polluted by continental sources. During the Chinese Comprehensive Ocean Experiment in November 2012, size and mass spectra of atmospheric individual particles in the size ranging from 0.2 to 2.0um were measured on board by single particle aerosol mass spectrometer(SPAMS). The average hourly particle number was around 4,560±3,240 in South Yellow Sea(SYS), 2,900±3,970 in North Yellow Sea(NYS), and 1,700±2,220 in Bohai Sea(BS). Particle number in NYS and BS varied greatly over 3 magnitudes from 80 to 19,800, while that in SYS showed a relatively even distribution. The size distributions were fitted with two log-normal modes. Accumulation mode was the dominant mode in NYS and BS especially during episodic periods. Coarse mode particles played an important role in SYS. Particles were classified using adaptive resonance theory based neural network algorithm(ART-2a). Six particle types were identified with secondary-containing, aged sea-salt, soot-like, biomass burning, fresh sea-salt, and lead-containing particles accounting for 32%, 21%, 18%, 16%, 4%, and 3% of total particle number, respectively. Aerosols in BS were relatively enriched in anthropogenic sources compared to SYS, probably due to emissions from moredeveloped upwind regions and indicating stronger influence of continental outflow on marine environment. Variation of source types depended mainly on the origin of transported air masses. This study examined rapid changes in particle number, size distribution and source types of fine particles in marine atmosphere. And it also demonstrated the effectiveness of high-time resolution source apportionment by ART-2a.

Novel active damping control scheme for a three-phase active rectifier with LCL-filter

A novel active damping control scheme is developed to eliminate stability problems arisen in the current control of a three-phase voltage source active rectifier (VSR) with LCL-filter. A converter side inductance voltage feedback loop is introduced in the traditional voltage oriented control to stabilize VSR. A simplified discrete model including the current control loop and LCL-filter is established with one sample delay, considering time delays induced by S/H (sampling and holding), processing and modulation. The amplification coefficient of the converter side inductance voltage feedback loop is tuned up to change the unstable poles of LCL-filter. Parameter estimate methods are used to remove unnecessary sensors. simulation and experiment of VSR with LCL-filter demonstrate the proposed active damping control scheme and the stability analyses.
