Regarding the power transmission mode from energy base to load center as the heart of the matter, a joint optimal operating model for both sending- and receiving- end power grids is established. In this model, the carbon emission is taken into the total system operation cost in the form of economic costs and taking the minimized total system operation cost as the objective the operation of the tie line and the generating unit in the receiving end power grid is scheduled. Based on the planning parameters for the power transmission from XilinGol League to Shandong, the case study on the application of the proposed model is performed and the results show that through reasonable power transmission mode the wind power accommodation space of the receiving end power grid can be fully utilized to accommodate the wind power generated in the sending power grid, thus the system operating cost is reduced while the low carbon development of power grid can be promoted effectively. ©, 2015, power system Technology Press. In order to better accommodate renewable energy sources (RESs), a general coordinated mechanism for modern power system has been proposed, which is simultaneously appropriate for economic dispatch and market clearing under the current structure of wholesale markets. In which, the system operator can achieve a global optimum under uncertainties by investing independent aggregators (IAs) with better autonomies on trade-offs between expected profits and risks. Meanwhile, IAs with RESs are free to model their internal uncertainty in a heterogeneous manner and integrate the local information into tailored bids without revealing privacy. Moreover, a parametric-programming-based distributed (PPD) algorithm is designed to support the once-daily communication mechanism. The case studies validated the performance of the proposed mechanism.

To achieve a fast approach to the dynamic reactive power optimization model, a mixed integer nonlinear programming model was set up, with consideration of the discrete reactive power equipment operation limit and power grid security constraints, to minimize the transmission losses. Furthermore, a method called heuristic search and variable correction was proposed that for the first stage, the discrete variables are relaxed into continuous ones, which leads to an optimization model with equilibrium constraints. According to the optimal value of relaxed model, a mixed integer quadratic programming model is formulated to minimize the objective of approximation variance, satisfied the discrete switching operation constraints in primary model. For the second stage, the continuous variables are redressed with respect to the determined discrete variables. The impact of adjustment step and operation limit on the optimal solution was fully studied in IEEE 14-bus test system. Besides, the result of IEEE 30, 57, 118 test systems show that an optimal solution can fast be obtained by proposed method, and the precision satisfies the actual engineering, which can also employ the parallel technology. © 2014 Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering.

As an important performance index of the UAV Ad hoc network, network reliability is a great significance for the performance evaluation of the UAV network system, and provides a direction for the selection of the UAVs formations. In this paper, based on the 3D Gauss Markov moving model, we modeled the motion mode of the UAV group. By using the Weibull distribution to sample the failure of the fleet, and through the correlation matrix which characterizes the connectivity state of network nodes in the time domain, we studied and compare the reliability of the self-organizing network of the UAV group with different formations. It provides a basis for selecting the formations of the UAVs for different network requirements.

The power-loss models for different switching states of IGCTs and diodes in MV (medium voltage) three-level NPC (neutral point clamped) inverters are presented in this paper. The models, simulation implementation and the revisional experiments on IGCT test platform are described in details. The relation between the power losses and the other elements of the inverter is analyzed and discussed.

The GaN HEMT offers fast switching and low on-state resistance which makes it ideal for applications such as high efficiency and high power density power supplies. Unfortunately, the low threshold voltage makes GaN HEMT extremely vulnerable to false turn-on, which compromises the performance and potentially causes shoot-through. In the half-bridge circuit topology, the resonant circuit formed by the parasitic inductance and capacitance can trigger false turn-on with a fast commutation. A practical method to avoid this phenomenon is to apply a negative bias voltage during the commutation by either using a separate power supply or using a capacitor charge pump to produce the negative turn-off bias. The first method necessitates many extra components and the second method cannot provide a fixed negative voltage. This paper rectifies these issues by proposing a negative turn-off bias generator with a new charge pump based approach which offers a stable negative turn-off voltage under different switching frequencies and duty cycles. The proposed circuit has been practically implemented during experimental testing. These results demonstrate that false turn-on events are eliminated without compromising the high-frequency and highspeed characteristics of the GaN HEMT.

Non Conventional Instrument Transformer (NCIT) and IEC 61850 are crucial technologies in digital substations. But they bring some new uncertainties to protection IEDs, especially the time synchronization issue in current differential protection. The paper analyzes the time delay of transferring sampled values from NCIT to current differential relay in NCIT and IEC61850 based digital substation, then finds out the delay-non-deterministic problem, at last presents a novel current differential protection scheme by using Phase-Locked Loops (PLL ) technology.

The series connection of insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) allows the operation at voltage levels higher than the rated voltage of one IGBT. However, the technology has not been widely applied due to transient voltage unbalance. Asynchronous gate drive signals, which cause series-connected IGBTs not to turn-on and turn-off at the same time, result in serious unbalanced voltage sharing. This paper presents an active voltage balancing control for multi series connected HV-IGBTs including the active voltage balancing control (AVBC) circuit integrated in the gate driver and the control for multi series connected IGBTs. The effectiveness of the control has been experimentally validated in a 10 kV dc-link voltage converter using four 4.5 kV HV-IGBTs in series connection.
